Great service and excellent workmanship, Michael really knows his stuff. I had a vintage Astra 22 that was locked up for no explainable reason. I dropped it off and he said "Next Friday". I knew he was going out of town to pick up his new car, so I wasn't going to hold him to it. Thursday afternoon he calls and says I can pick it up tomorrow. I was excited, and rightfully so, it functions perfectly! While I was picking it up, a young man came in with an old black powder barrel and needed the primer that had been there forever removed. I have a Remington shotgun that I broke the charging handle. there are no replacement parts I had the broken piece and Mike welded and filed a new notch on it for a reasonable cost and 4 weeks time. Another local and well known gunsmith (Olathe) worked on another issue with this same shotgun (a broken firing pin) and I did not see the gun for 6 months at 4 times the cost of Mike. I had all the dems so the smith only had to copy them to produce a new pin. Needless to say I am very happy with Mike's work and I recommend him to any of my friends that need gun work. read more

Over time, a yelper is going to reveal who they are. The sort of food they like, the restaurants they prefer, the type of service they expect. Today, I "come out" as a gun owner. Now, before you howl, remember this is about the quality of a small business rather than your opinions (which I'd love to talk about sometime over a drink) about gun ownership. These guys are extremely busy, are open odd hours, and are running about a month lead time on most repairs. I had an issue with a catch on my Glock-19 and he pulled it apart, made a small adjustment, and slipped it back on and handed it back to me, all in about 45 seconds. How much? Nothing, he said. I have been using Mike for my gunsmith on many projects for almost eight years. If it is a simple thing Mike will complete the job while you wait and charge you a minimum fee. The bigger jobs may take six weeks but all his work is Guaranteed and if you should ever have an issue Mike will put your work to the front of the line. I have an old rifle in great condition and want to add a scope. Didn't know if this gun was adaptable but after a short discussion with Mike I not only knew it was adaptable but knew what mounts and scope I wanted to put on this particular rifle. I also had an old 1880, 10 gauge shot gun and 1905 S& W 38 special that Mike educated me on during the visit. I was cleaning my 1891 Argentine Mauser. I put the bolt in upside down. Wow I am dumb. So i drove up the street to see if I could get Gunsmithing Only to help me out. He took about five minutes to fix the problem, told me it would be $5. I didn't have cash , only card. He took my word that I would be back with the money and I was. I couldn't have been more happy with the service I got. A lot of gun related business can make you feel stupid about things like this. Top notch. Dropped of a pistol to have a new set of sights and a trigger job done. They quoted me three weeks. After one week they called and said it was ready. I was pumped!! Upon getting to the shop, Mike stated he just wasn't happy with the job and that I needed a different part. No charge for the trigger job and he's already got the part coming. Never again will I go Gunsmithing Only. I recently took a Browning Buckmark to Mike the owner about a stuck barrel take down screw. I gave specific instructions that if he couldn't remove screw without Drilling it out, call me and I would pick up and have the pistol shipped to Browning. After a month and half, I called to see if pistol was repaired, I was told it was done. When I arrived, I discovered that Mike had indeed drilled the screw out and replaced with a larger screw that also extended out of the frame. Not the way Browning had designed the Buckmark. This is a complete disregard of instructions and disrepectful. The pistol is now pretty much worthless. If you want quality gunsmithing look elsewhere, there are plenty of other gunsmiths in the KC area! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO GUNSMITHING ONLY. read more
