I came in for a simple chain repair, and not only did they fix it perfectly, but they also did it at no cost. Other places were quoting me anywhere from $50-$100, so this really stood out. On top of that, the chain looked brand new when I got it back. While waiting, I had the chance to browse some of their custom pieces, and I was really impressed by the craftsmanship and creativity. I had a ring resized. The price was good and Mr Thompson was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

My experience started off good until I called to ask if I could keep the gold they cut when sizing down my ring. They said they would charge $50 to the gold & after some digging I found out that mom and pop jewelry shops do that. I decided to cancel my repair with them and go to Jared Jewelers (to keep the gold free of charge). While at Jared I learned a lot. #1 the person from Thompson lied to me about what type of jewels were on my ring. He said they were glass when in fact they are white Sapphire! #2 that the ring in its self needs a lot of work done. I wasn't told that at Thompson which is a shame. I'm so glad I didn't end up letting them repair my ring and to be frank I don't trust the fact I was told my Sapphires were called glass. Do what you want with that statement but that's sketchy in its self. Jared costs the same & you get a PROFESSIONAL option. You can always take the offers on what they say should be worked on or decline. That's up to you but I'll never go back to Thompson. Nor will I ever recommend it. read more

This is the only place I trust with my jewelry! I've had several rings worked on here, most recently, I needed a middle bar attached in my ring to prevent shifting. I also had a stone replaced in a ring that was damaged, and my gold band polished. The replacement stone is STUNNING. They did and excellent job picking a stone that was exactly the same shape and size but even more sparkly than before. My bridged ring also came out perfect and was the cleanest I'd ever seen it. Everything was super Fairly priced and did not take very long. I'm so happy with my jewelry every time I leave their shop. They always greet you with a smile, the whole staff is so kind and friendly. I have a bp and stomach condition that randomly flared up while I was in there and they were so kind and helped me outside for air and to rest in my car. It was so embarrassing but they were super understanding and kind about it. They are great people, if you are going to trust anyone to take care of your special jewelry, go to Thompson's. I was so nervous to go anywhere with stories about jewelers taking stones to replace them with lower quality versions. I stopped into this small business (shop small, shop local!) in hopes of 1) avoiding Macy's right after Christmas, and 2) what I hoped would be a quick repair to a Christmas gift. I am so glad that I did! Snugly fitting into the corner of a small strip of storefronts on Nieman, Thompson's is offering quality jewelry and expert repair. The owner, John, quickly diagnosed my need as just a simple solder job in order to repair a fine white gold chain. That chain was holding a diamond pendant, had broken soon after it had been put around its recipient's neck, and I was very much wanting to return it to my intended love. John made that process super fast and super easy. He was fair in pricing (there was a bit of labor to correct the flaw) and did not overpromise. John agreed to get it as soon as he could and by the next morning, he called and had repaired the chain just as he had assured! I was so happy with the service and the pricing, and especially for something that I did not buy from him! Outstanding experience! Thompson's does have some beautiful pieces, and I will be sure to consult them when I take a next step and pick out another gem with which to give to my beautiful love. I wanted to purchase some simple gold earrings for my wife for Christmas. I went to Thompsons and they recommended some options within my budget. They were very friendly and provided great support. The earrings arrived quickly and I gave them to my wife for Christmas. Unfortunately the earrings style weren't the best fit for her so we took them back for return. Thompsons was very supportive and provided other options for her to choose from. She selected a pair and they exchanged them. She absolutely loves them. Special comment is that my wife is very sensitive to most metal alloys and cannot wear them. But the earrings Thompsons provided have been fantastic. Truly AMAZING! Bruce and his son are so good and service is TOP! I had a custom 17K ruby ring made for my 40th birthday present. From start to finish they helped me with the custom band design and end product. This is a custom-mold shop so they can literally make anything you can dream up. They hand carve wax molds and then pour the gold into the mold for an exact replica. I gave them some design ideas and then they hand-carved a mold based on what I was thinking. My ring is perfect and exactly what I wanted. Price was very reasonable and turn-around time was also very fast considering the from-scratch design work. It only took 2 weeks to have my ring. I needed to get my wedding ring resized and my prongs built up. I noticed a jewelry repair post on Next Door that was filled with accolades for Thompson's Jewelry.....a Shawnee store I had never heard of. I thought I would give it a try with so many positive comments. The shop had molds from custom rings lining the wall & a bit of machinery here and there. I will say the outside "We Buy Gold" sign and stuffed rattlesnakes in the display counter about had me feeling like turning right around and heading out the door. I had decided to just get an estimate and then leave. While standing there for a few minutes to get waited on I noticed an exchange between the owner (son), an elderly woman who was in a wheelchair and a young gal who was with her. The gentleman was very genuine and so polite to the elderly woman. It really impressed me. After chatting with him and his father a bit; I left my ring. They did an excellent job and it was done right on time. We will definitely go back! read more

From the outside, it's a simple small shop at the end of a row of stores. To be honest, I have driven by this place tons of times and never realized it was a jewelry store. In fact, the neon sign in the window made me think of a pawn shop. That could be father from the truth. This is a small family owned shop, and the guys that run it are extremely friendly and accommodating. They do a ton of customized design requests, and have a ton of past molds used in customer orders out on display showing what they are able to do (I even saw a skull ring that was designed to hold guitar picks, a custom design for a guitar player). I took a ring in to get it sized, they quoted me about 5 days, then called me a couple hours later to let me know it was done! If you're jewelry shopping, absolutely inquire with these guys before making a jeweler decision. You won't be disappointed. read more

While the staff was very nice, their estimate was much higher than Helzberg and another credible independent. I tried to replace the battery on my treasured watch but did not count on not being able to get the back replaced. John took it aside and used a tool in his arsenal to get it back on and the watch running just fine. Lesson learned. Next time I will just take it to Thompsons and get it done right. Great, family-owned store for jewelry repair and custom jewelry. Excellent service, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I had my wedding ring repaired (prongs were bent, the bands cracked, etc.) Thompsons repaired everything I requested and beyond, it looks brand new. I am so happy with my "new" ring. They also buy silver and gold; we took in some old items which we thought were probably not worth anything and they paid us much more than expected. John and his son were so helpful and took the time to explain everything to us. In the future, I hope to have some jewelry custom made and I know I will use Thompsons. These guys are so awesome! I was driving through KC and got stuck in a traffic jam. I decided to get off the interstate and see about getting my necklace fixed (I had just got it as a present & was so sad I messed up the clasp!) I Googled to see if there were any repair shops with good reputations close by that could do it asap. I found Thompson's. The reviews were right! I stopped in and told/showed them what I did. They said it could be done tomorrow, but when I said I was passing through on the way back to OK they said give them an hour. They are AMAZING! Excellent customer service! I called to inquire about a watch battery replacement and the gentleman was very nice and made sure he knew exactly what kind of watch it was before he said he could replace it - the watch is a Victorinox and many jewelers say they can replace the battery, only to tell me they can't/won't change it once I have made the trip there. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and the man quickly changed the battery and set the date and time, which is a nice touch because some places haven't done that in the past. My wife's wedding ring had a small diamond fall out of it. For Christmas she wanted me to get it fixed. Obviously I decided to wait until Christmas Eve to try to get this fixed. Luckily, I called these guys and they said come on in and they'll see what they can do.
