Unfortunately, I had a good experience in the beginning of my trip to GUN WORLD but a horrible experience at the end of my sale.  I'm giving you guys 5 starts because of Chris and the other guy at the counter when I was checking out.  Both were super helpful and knowledgeable for someone as much of a novice as my self.   The guy that was a real jerk was a latino man wearing a hat and glasses today checking me out.  I'm describing him so management can have a chat with him about how he treated me today.  At first he was actually pretty cool.  I was asking him questions and he was cordially answering them.  Then it went south when a woman came and cleared the register he was on by mistake. I used to work in retail so I know a bit of how this stuff works.  She cleared the register and instead of reprinting my store receipt he only gave me a CC receipt and then walked off.  FYI a store will not exchange anything for you if they don't have the official store receipt.   I followed him and asked if this was the only receipt I was supposed to get and he said "oh no I can print you the official receipt, just wait for me at the other counter."  He had already started helping another customer though.   His first mistake was not just reprinting me my receipt when he was standing right in front of me.  Instead he just chose to be lazy or he was felling rushed IDK.  Then instead of telling the new customer that he was helping to wait a minute so he could take care of me he made me wait for about 5 minutes.  That was mistake number two. So after 5 minutes I went and found him again and he was still helping the other customer so I had to track him down to get the heck out of there.  Finally he gives me the official store receipt and the cc receipt and when I asked him to staple them together he hands me a stapler and puts both receipts on the counter.  So of course at that point we had some words and he tried to gaslight me and tells me "If you want respect you've got to give respect". What about the respect he should've given me in the first place when I paid and he didn't give me the proper receipts?  He actually chose to disrespect me even more after that by then making me wait.  Then to add insult to injury he says to me in the most sarcastic unapologetic tone you can imagine, "Oh you mean I made a mistake, I'm soooooorrrryyyy". I mean like I said I've worked in retail and I have the utmost respect for retail employees because I know the type of stuff that I've had to put up with.  This was not that.   He messed, up not me, and then he punished me for being somewhat impatient after 5 minutes of waiting, when I never should've had to wait in the first place!  His behavior was just unacceptable.  I didn't deserve to be treated that way after I just spent money at your store.  What's worse is he didn't even have the humility to say to me "ya know what I messed up and I'm sorry" and really see the error of his ways.  Instead he was just sarcastic, rude and tried to blame me for HIS mistake.  He had too large of an ego to admit he was in the wrong.  I will not ever stand for being treated that way in my life. read more

Disappointing Experience at Gun World: Unhelpful Employee Named Logan My recent visit to Gun World left me with a sour taste in my mouth, mainly due to the unhelpful and rude behavior of one of their employees, Logan. As someone who values quality customer service, I found my interaction with Logan to be quite frustrating and off-putting. Upon entering the store, I had hoped to receive some guidance and expert advice regarding firearms. Unfortunately, my experience with Logan was far from that. Every question I posed was met with an attitude that exuded cockiness and condescension. Instead of patiently addressing my inquiries, he seemed more interested in showcasing his own expertise rather than assisting a customer in need. The level of condescension displayed by Logan made it clear that he had little interest in helping customers. It felt as if my genuine curiosity was dismissed, leaving me with the impression that my concerns were insignificant in his eyes. Such behavior is not only unprofessional but also undermines the overall atmosphere of a store that should prioritize customer satisfaction and safety. A gun store should ideally foster an environment where customers feel comfortable and supported, especially when dealing with potentially dangerous items. Regrettably, Logan's approach lacked the courtesy and respect that should be expected in a customer service role. In addition to the poor customer service, I found the absence of helpful guidance and genuine assistance disheartening. Logan's lack of willingness to provide relevant and detailed information left me feeling uninformed and frustrated. As a result, I was unable to make an informed decision regarding my firearm purchase. While I understand that individuals have varying levels of expertise, it is imperative for employees to maintain professionalism, patience, and a customer-oriented approach. Unfortunately, Logan failed to exhibit these qualities, resulting in a disappointing experience at Gun World. I sincerely hope that Gun World takes this feedback into consideration and works towards improving their customer service. A store of their nature should prioritize training their employees to offer genuine assistance, without compromising on professionalism. As a potential customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of my level of knowledge. due to the unhelpful and disrespectful attitude displayed by the employee Logan, my experience at Gun World was far from satisfactory. As a 1st time buyers I can't speak of competitive pricing, or price gouging, since I like a dump ass waited until December 20th the last day to order an AR-15 and they were one of the few stores in LA that still had a selection of new rifles left. There were 50+ people running around the store looking to get a rifle and the phones were ringing off the hook. I asked the first person I saw if they had any new AR-15's left and he said go see Joe (Joe's the owner). Joe told me to hold on a second he was helping someone else, after he finished it was my turn. I told him I was interested in a new AR-15 rifle and he told me he had 4 or 5 left and he recommended the Troy QBC A3, told me about some of the upgrades that came on the Troy over 4 hundred dollars worth and how Troy had a reputation for quality parts. He filled out the paper work for me and I paid for the rifle. Next I was given a number and the California Firearms Safety Certificate test to take while I waited to register the rifle (I only missed 1 question, not bad for not knowing there was a test and not studying). Soon it was my turn to fill out the DROS form and the guy (The biggest in the store) who helped me was really helpful and nice, I don't think I would have been with all the people in the store, and having to complete all of the registrations one after another. He told me to be back on the 30th after 1:30pm to pickup the rifle, I asked about the 31st and he said I could but that was the absolute last day to pick it up and with a smile mentioned he would be pissed with me messing with his New Years Eve. The whole process from arriving at Gun World to completing the transaction took about 2 1/2 hours. I picked up the rifle on the 30th, and there were about 10-15 people picking theres up so I got in line. The line moved quickly and soon it was my turn, the gentleman that helped me (Buzz hair cut, side arm and a grey Gun World t-shirt) was super nice, very friendly, showed me the Troy rifle, completed the transaction in a few minutes and asked me if I had any questions or needed anything else, which I didn't. I gave Gun World, Joe and everyone who helped me 5 Stars. read more

BOOOO! I believe a good business has to have good customer service. It is essential. Businesses who try to squeeze out every penny from customers, just won't get repeat business. Ok, here's my story. I bought a rifle a couple of weeks back from a local person, who wanted to do the Private Party Transfer at Gunworld. (I suggested Aegis Gun Shop down the street where I have bought a few items before and they were really helpful), but the seller said he was already set up with Gunworld. The Rifle came with a NEW (CA Dept. of Justice approved) lock. But they still charged me $20 for a $5 lock!! I explained to them that on their own website, under FAQ's; Ques. #7 states: 7. What if the gun I am purchasing comes with a gunlock, trigger lock or other safety device? (a). If the device that comes with your gun is on the "approved" list than you will not need to purchase another gunlock or cable. They said, "The state requires you to buy a gun lock/cable, because we have to be sure we are selling you one for this rifle." I said I didn't understand; the rifle I was buying does come with a brand new lock, it's not one that I have at home. It's a lock for this rifle. Why should I buy another one that is exactly the same (same color and model). The gentleman then spent a few minutes telling me this long story of how the police dept. will fine the store if they don't sell me a lock. It just didn't make sense. I was not argumentative with him. Just puzzled. Maybe they are trying to get every penny they can in this tight economy. But some gun shops/FFL dealers even give away locks. I know Aegis down the street sells the locks for 1/2 price ($10). Anyhow, I know $20 is not going to break the bank, but it's the principle of the matter. From now on, if I ever do another Private Party Transfer, I'll go to Aegis, or another store. read more

First off, let me start by saying that I do not like leaving negative remarks about a business. However, when something is this outrageous, I feel that I need to share my experience so others are at least given a "heads up". I decided to go back to check out the "new ownership" to see if they had changed for the better. I have been going to Gun World on and off since they came to Burbank way back in the day. To my surprise, it was the same old service and the same old people. You would think that with all the negative remarks this place gets that they would learn and make some changes in the way they handle business (check other sites such as Calguns.net). For example, $150 for a FFL to FFL transfer? That's a slap in the face when other stores charge half that. I know why they charge it....they don't want to do them. It gets in the way of making money on sales. The problem is.....it's part of the business of having a Firearms License. Yes, they are allowed to charge what they want.....but it's painfully obvious why they overcharge. While I was standing there looking at the STILL overpriced handguns, I overheard a couple say that they had been waiting for 35 minutes to just do a private party transfer. We were the only three people in the store!! Once again, this store is only good for one thing.....overpriced eye candy. It amazes me that some businesses just don't learn. read more

I walked in this store to buy an expensive Browning shotgun for skeet shooting. I was lucky enough to run into a salesman named Joe, who expertly advised me that for my needs I would be overpaying by opting for the Browning. Mind you, he had the Browning in stock. But he introduced me to a Winchester shotgun that not only came with all the accessories I needed, but was half the price of the Browning. Not to mention he had to special order the Winchester for me. Rather than dumping the more expensive Browning on me that he had in stock, he educated me on the differences between the two shotguns and why I was much better off going with the Winchester. The details he gave went all the way down to very specific differences in manufacturing processes of both guns. I was impressed. I have never met a more honest salesman that would take the time to educate a customer in such a detailed fashion.....while saving them a boatload of money in the process. I was so happy with how I was treated by Joe I soon after purchased a high-end long rifle and two pistols from him. I've been to the shop a few times since, and I have to say, most of the employees there can learn a thing or two from Joe. If I ever buy another gun it's definitely from Gun World. read more

You know, I read the above reviews and I understand where some of you are coming from. But as I far as I am concerned, I am a loyal customer.. Having been to the few gun shops we have in CA, I was put off by the insiders club feel. I felt the selection was limited at other places, and particularly at the "Venice" shop, I saw that nobody really felt the need to sell to me. I went to gun world on saturday with my wife and was impressed greatly with the selection of rifles, handguns and shotguns. They had all of the pistols I was interested in buying. The salesman (Mark) was knowledgeable and friendly. Unlike some other places, I didn't feel embarrassed to have my wife there. Very professional. Very clean.. no overly-jokey doofis posters (as I call 'em, maybe y'all like those) or crayzed political signage. Just great gun selection and a pro staff. Now, let me say... I know I overpaid for my weapon.. I wound up getting the 9mm USP. But it was in stock, and I was really paying for the advice, and for the environment in which the weapon was sold. I am now, and will be a loyal customer, even though the price point was high. Simply because the experience was what I needed it to be. read more

They were all so friendly and extremely knowledgeable. This store is HUGE and they are very well staffed. I was greeted and taken care of as soon as I walked in the door even though it seemed to be pretty busy. This place should be the first stop for the first time gun buyer. How this place gets slammed in the review is beyond me. The have the friendliest most knowledgeable staff of any gun store that I have been to. Gun World great selection of firearms. All of my favorite brand Kimber, Glock, Colt, Smith Wesson, Kahr, LWRC, POF, Stag Arms they have them all. Update went back 5/18/2014: What a selection of hard to get AR's They had LaRue's, Noveskes, LWRC's, LMT's, the new Carbon fiber Sig Sauer 516, I originally went in for a Sig 716 3-Gun .308 AR but instead went with a La Rue PreditOBR in.556. A super hard to get gun. They take over two years to get. I could not believe my luck! How this place can have so many models while the other shops down the street have almost nothing i will never understand. Defently the gun shop to go to. Ok I read all the reviews about this place and wondered if I should even go in there, cause some were pretty bad. I figured I would see for myself. I wanted to buy a gun for my business and walked in and told the sales guy (George) that I knew nothing about guns but needed one. He smiled and said great that it was his job to help me pick one and then helped me for 35 minutes showing me 5 guns in different prices and how they worked and everything. He never pressured me or told me I had to have some 1000 dollar gun, and never talked down to me like I was a ditsy broad or an idiot. I will be buying my gun from him in the next week after I take a safety class which he suggested. This place is great and George even asked the owner if I could get a discount on the gun. The owner Damion said he would work with me on the price when I was ready to buy it. How cool is that? I don't know who Sam L. talked to when he walked in there but his review was nothing like what I experienced. read more

There is a reason this so called "business" barely has any stars on Yelp. Gun World should NOT be in business and the fact that it is still afloat is a testament to all the uninformed people out there still buying their overpriced product. Regardless of the current price gouging occurring there, I have experienced many dishonorable acts in my visits there. If you plan on doing a PPT (Private Party Transfer) there, be prepared to be forced to purchase a safety lock for $20 (generally sold for $5 at other stores). Not only is this illegal (if the gun already comes with one), when I called them out on it, they lied directly to my face and continued to come up with false reasons of why I needed to purchase the lock. This is only one issue I have ran into with them, but I'll keep my rant short. Don't deal with these crooks. Go to Guns Direct and Aegis just down the street, two much friendlier, honest, and fair businesses. read more

Seem like Gun World may not be closing after all if what the manager told me was true. The manager said they would be staying open during the owner ship transition. While they will not be selling gun during the transition they will continue to sell ammo and accessories. I really like this place the people are friendly and super know legible. A great place for first time buyer or the collector to go I hope what they say is true because it would be a shame to lose one more gun store in the Los Angeles area. I was told one of the managers they should be reopening in November or December with a similar inventory of firearms. Currently they seem to just be selling Ammo and accessories. They had some great prices on FMJ 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP and .223. You had to buy it by the case to get the good price. I did find some coupons on their web site for .308 win by the box. read more

There are a few gun shops left in L.A. This one is the best. The best inventory, the best staff, the best prices. It's deceptive, though. The shop is small - and appears even smaller from outside, or even from inside, the front door. The back room is solid guns - floor to ceiling - of every type and description. The staff, while friendly, are very professional and can seem a little stand-offish. They aren't. They are amazingly helpful and friendly once you start a relationship with them. I've even called them from the range with a question and they found the time to help me out. I see bad reviews here and I am certain it is for one reason only - these guys don't suffer fools gladly. If you are interested in guns, whether you're an expert or a novice, these guys and this shop will become your go-to dealers. read more

I'm going to bet the majority of the reviews about Gun World are from several of the other gun stores on the same street. My friend and I traveled down from Edwards and were amazed by the selection and service. Upon walking into the showroom all the employees greeted us and helped us with any questions we had and were very courteous and personable. My friend was looking for a Kriss Vector and behold Gun World had several in stock whereas every other dealer only stated they "couldn't get it" or "could order it." The associates were military friendly and this is something we are appreciative of. As for the prices, they were competitive for the same weapons as the other stores. I purchased some Saiga magazines which were $20 cheaper than other stores in the area. We will continue to be regular customers. read more
