This shop is has an awesome selection and super friendly staff. They have a great inventory with good variety, and everything felt easy to look through without being overwhelming. My girlfriend and I went to this store for an FFL transfer of a couple of firearms and found out a couple of things. First, the transfer went smoothly and quickly and without hassle. Which was a relief and quite refreshing. And secondly, the entire staff was wonderful and very friendly and helpful. This was our first time at the Gun Shack and we had a great all around experience. They carry a solidly large inventory of firearms as well as many gun related accessories. The store is easy to locate with plenty of parking too. I had the pleasure of purchasing a suppressor at the Gun Shack. Lee was very helpful and assisted in completing the required application form, fingerprints, and photograph. The entire process, and electronically filing was completed in about an hour. Two days later, Lee telephoned me and informed me I could pick up the suppressor as I had been approved by ATF. Upon arrival at the gun store, Lee greeted me with a smile and a handshake. In addition, Lee installed a muzzle device and the suppressor on my rifle before I left the store. Lee was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable and made my purchasing experience a positive one. In today's world, it is rare to encounter friendly customer service. Wow!...what a great gun shop! I went in today to trade in a few pistols for a new Sig. I received amazing service from the minute I walked in the door. Hunter took great care of me! He showed me the different options I was interested in and gave me great information and advice on the different choices. This was my first time purchasing a firearm of any kind. I am 18 years old and I was looking for a specific shotgun, any place I would call to inquire would just answer with a "no" and simply hang up the phone. I tired three different local gun stores. Two out of the three would just be rude and not take me seriously at all. But when I called the Gun Shack. Alex took my call and I told him what I was looking for and within five minutes of my call he gave a me a quote and an estimate of how long it will take to arrive. If you are looking for a place that will take their time and allow you to ask whatever question you may have WITHOUT making you feel inferior, then The Gun Shack is where you want to go! I had a good idea of what I wanted and had done some research prior to coming into The Gun Shack, but still had some questions. I wanted an AR style pistol in .300 BLK to put my first suppressor on. When I went in I was met by a staff that truly has a passion for firearms AND customer satisfaction. They never tried to push any products on me that I didn't want or need, but they would take the time to help me weigh the pros and cons of items when I was unsure. Also, they took me through the whole process of the Form 4 for the suppressor start to finish and made that extremely painless! Great bunch of people at this place! Knowledgeable and friendly with an excellent selection of firearms. I ended buying a new mka 1923 and a used m&p shield. Love both guns and it makes it even better when you have a great experience at a gun shop. These guys will be my first stop for any gun purchases going forward. Quick review on the MKA 1923: ONLY heavy loads can be fired through this gun. I tried every load from 7.5 to 00. Once I got to #2 and below it completely stopped jamming. Anything else jams on just about every shell. An absolute blast to shoot and highly recommend it for anybody that enjoys shooting shotguns and looking for a great home defense weapon. The verdict is still out. I've brought in an AR, in parts (most of them) I asked for help identifying the parts needed to complete it so I could build it and buy whatever else I need to complete. The gentleman working were not very nice at all, condescending like I should know how to build it. I asked if they could just complete it, and I would buy the parts etc. they said yes, 75$ an hour which is great! Because it would take me months to build "not a gunsmith by any means" he said, ok "I have zero timeline for you" I said, alright assuming it would take a couple weeks. As I filled out the paperwork to have it done, I asked for a general time line, they said "nope" and walked away. I had to come back another day to drop off more parts as I forgot some at home. I asked again, any timeline? He responds "not a good one" I get a call later asking my middle name, I give it to them. There is one gentleman there that is from Portland oregon, he is very nice. The other ones are not nice unless your a female which got plenty of service from 2 employees who were just rambling about what she uses etc. I had already purchased 700$ worth of goods previously. Unless things change I won't be back and I'll give it one star.. read more

These guys are really great. They're welcoming to new gun owners and don't try to make you feel like an idiot when you ask questions. I came in on a Friday afternoon for a repair and knew I'd have to leave it a couple days. But while I was there the gunsmith graciously offered to fix it while I waited. Don't expect this, it's a rarity in the gunsmithing business, but I really appreciated it as I was able to get some shooting time in before I had to leave town on a business trip. I've not been a gun enthusiast for long, but I have been one long enough to have been to each store in the area, only to discover something pretty simple. All are filled with some great folks, but one stands out as the best in terms of friendliness, patience with what might seem silly questions, and knowledge/practical know-how on the various guns and their pros/cons. While I might look at around at some of the other places, I now know I will only purchase at one. Even if they don't have what you were looking for, they'll have it within a couple days. Best gun shop in the San Antonio area! There, I've said it! They may not have the biggest selection in town, but they are competitive in price and more so honest when dealing with customers (something not always experienced at the other gun stores in SA!). I actually stopped by there once to see if they could come close to matching the price of an online sale, and while they couldn't I was impressed that they encouraged me to buy it from the online vendor! The nice folks at the Gun Shack won't steer you wrong, and they take great care of their customers. It is the first place I go to when looking for a new firearm and even if the price is a little higher (which it rarely is), I'd rather spend my hard-earned cash here where I know I am appreciated and treated well. Plus, any gun store that put spent ammo casings into the foundation of their building ranks high in my book. They are a family-run business that treats their customers like family, you can't get any better than that! p.s. They are also holding a brisket taco fundraiser this Saturday with all proceeds going to Disabled American Veterans, a non profit charity that provides support to Veterans and their families! Earlier this year I went into Gun Shack looking for a stainless Taurus Model 66. I was concerned with the cost and as I was pondering the purchase, the salesman brought to my attention a used revolver, same model. It was hundreds less and I appreciated him alerting me to this. They weren't out to make a big sale, but to make a happy and loyal customer. Later when I had some trouble with it, they kindly offered to send it back to Taurus for service at no cost to me. Not many gun stores would offer this service. I have since bought another revolver at Gun Shack, the Ruger SP101. Wolf was very helpful, professional, and respectful in helping me make a decision. I like that the employees are shooters, gun advocates and have so much knowledge and experience. I am a veteran and I owned firearms all my life. You can't go wrong with Gun Shack. The Gun Shack has become my only gun store. Bought a suppressor from them at a great price. They did everything they could to help me get it as quickly as possible. The turn around from receiving the product to getting to me was outstanding. Within hours I was called to come pick up my suppressor. The prices on new and used guns I've found is pretty good. I won a rifle on line and they worked with the seller to make sure that there wasn't going to be any trouble for me. So doing transfers is yet another service that I will rely on them to do for me. After the sell has been great also. The manager and his staff members have shown me great customer service before and after the sale.
