I also learned a few more things as well. I enjoyed that we were given demonstrations on how to hold, aim, shoot, and how to breakdown our weapon. Jamie was also very patient and took his time to make sure we understood what we were doing. I left the training feeling more comfortable and confident and not nervous anymore which is a great help.

The Women's class teaches everything you need to know to feel comfortable handling your gun even if you haven't had experience. He takes the time to answer questions. He keep class professional but comfortable enough that you don't feel embarrassed to ask questions. He also has examples of items specific to female shooters and tips that make shooting more comfortable for women. For the LTC class John provides all the information you need to pass your exam while keeping class interesting. He uses a lot of scenarios to demonstrate his points and make you think situations you may not have considered. He is very safety oriented and make sure everyone is properly handling their firearms. I definitely plan to take more classes at BlackStar!

Eventually, I did discuss it with the owner, Rex, who assured me that I would be treated better. He even put me in direct contact with a manager there to deal with... so I gave it a second chance and purchased the rifle. As a 'thank you' and a 'sorry you were treated that way', they gave me and my friend (who also bought a rifle) some give cards for range time. Each card was supposed to have two trips. When I went in and tried to use my card, they rang up the range etc, and then kept the card. So I tried to explain that it was for two range visits and explained to the manager what happened previously. He even remembered what happened, and acknowledged that I was given the extras, but doubled down and said "no, you're only getting one trip to range time" and basically dared me to report to Rex. So I tried. I notified Rex via text message that I was again treated terribly,. He was away on vacation and told me that he would address it when he got back. I never heard from him. The other reviews are right. It is a nice place and clean ranges.... BUT... the customer service can be the worst you've ever seen, and the prices are high. Now I can see paying higher prices for a nice place with excellent customer service... but customer service can be as important as the product you buy... and if you're getting service as bad as this place gives... then you're paying way too high a price. I've seen Rex respond to reviews, and in those responses he states that he wishes they would reach out to mgmnt first before posting bad reviews.... but what about when you reach out to the owner (Rex) directly and he doesn't respond? Well, then, the review is warranted. I tried to give it a second chance, but when you're treated badly... and then the second chance is just as bad or worse... what then?

But sadly, this place is a shadow of what it once was. All the employees I've grown to like: Attila, Donovan, Rob, John, Mike, Paul, they have gone from the company citing issues with management. The quality has gone down to far since then, and I don't see myself ever returning. While I was there, the gunsmith did take good care of my guns. The range was relatively clean both in archery and firearms. The membership was expensive. For nearly $100/mo for a family plan, you get access to a 17-yard firearm range. Most other places have 25-300 yards, with even one having 100 yards indoors for the same monthly price! Overpriced to say the least. For what the price is, you can go elsewhere and have been amenities. Look elsewhere unless you are just coming in for a day or two.

This is a school/store that works with glass cutting, stained glass making, and kilning flat glass works. They sell all the glass and glass supplies. They even have books and newsletters where you can copy someone's design. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They took us around and showed us all the workshops, kilns, and supplies that they offer. We were stunned to see the colorful displays of the students' works shining in the windows. The staff is so friendly, and obviously passionate about their art! They're happy to help and answer any questions. It's a wonderful community resource! I can't wait to take a class here!
