Dury's Guns - San Antonio, TX I stopped into Dury's while on a business trip in San Antonio after spending some time at the Lone Star Gun Range. I was looking for cleaning supplies for my firearms, and this shop definitely impressed me. The store is large, clean, and extremely well-organized, with handguns displayed by manufacturer and thousands of new and used firearms to choose from. The layout and number of display cases made it easy to browse, and the selection included many guns I had never seen in person before. There was plenty of staff available to assist, and they were more than willing to show and explain different firearms. Even though I wasn't in the market for a new gun that day, if I had been, I would have purchased one on the spot. For my original purpose, I came in looking for a specific Slip 2000 solvent, and they had it in stock at a great price--no need to order online. Overall, this is one of the most impressive gun shops I've visited. The staff was friendly and helpful, the selection was outstanding, and the prices were very reasonable. Came in for the first time with my boyfriend. We had questions on different size firearms for my smaller sized hand. Mr. Luis help us with our question. In the process of gripping a couple of handguns. well it turns out I had no idea how to hold a handgun properly. I was originally taught the wrong way. Took BAR 7mm that had already taken elsewhere twice for cleaning, it did not eject shells. For a surprisingly reasonable price these guys stripped it down, cleaned and replaced what was needed. Took a while, however it was during hunting season. Very satisfied. read more

Let me tell you about my experience trying to buy my first gun. Let me preface this with saying Im a veteran but to be honest I am only an expert and proficient with an M-4 I really know nothing about small personal guns. Ok so the first time I tried to buy one was at Academy summer of '24. To keep it short I chose them because it felt comfortable because it's also a regular store. Well I was ignored and almost like I was a bother. I asked for recommendations because I wasn't too sure of what I needed. I picked a random NICE one but my approval was delayed. They NEVER called me back. Today I decided to try again but I went to Dury's instead cause they might be more knowledgeable. Boy I was not expecting what happened. I walk in with my daughter (special needs, this is important),everyone acknowledges us, we walk around looking aimlessly. Luis asks me what he can help with and I just said "im here to buy a gun for personal protection but I have no idea what im looking at." You can tell his teacher brain was excited. He pulled out 3 that he thought might be perfect and explained each one THOROUGHLY, and then when I was between two gave me pros and cons for both. I picked the perfect one for me. YOU THINK IT ENDS HERE AND HE JUST RINGS ME UP? No he went step by step on how to load it, hold it and literally be one with it. You think it ends there, no! We went over practice and what the perfect way to carry it would be for my needs. By this time my daughter starts with her behavior but Ms Betty (i hope that's the right name) came out and spent time with her so I can get all the information I could. (So thankful) It didnt end there but just know if you go here to buy it will feel like someone who cares about you and your safety is recommending something they would recommend to their own family. read more

Some of their employees are quite polite and courteous, some are not. I left a weapon for an appraisal of the cost for repair--after quite a few days they decided that they could not work on this particular item because the manufacturer was no longer in business and that therefore there would be no parts available for it--??? Parts are still available for it, but I don't have any idea why parts would be needed if the person responsible for working on these items is a qualified gunsmith; no indication was given of what parts they might have been considering for replacement. I didn't take this to them for a parts changeout, I could do that myself--I took i to them for diagnostic and an estimate--I received neither, just a waste of time and the unpleasant experience of being treated as if I was a total novice by their representative at the counter. read more

Won an auction for a win model 12 in 20 gauge and went to pick it up, pay cash and provide FFL/C&R-guys at the store took quite a while to go find it and eventually brought out the gun and said C&R not accepted because the gun was a Japanese knock off model 12 made in the 80s/90s and not C&R eligible. They also advised that since the listing did not include the fact it was a "Made in Japan" knock off, if I didn't want it they would relist with the correct info, cancel the purchase and NO NEGATIVE RESULT would occur for me. Advised via Gunbroker of this and shortly after received a notice the account was locked for non payment. Textbook clown act, unfit and not trustworthy. Steer clear. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly and personable. I also like the fact that they have a lifetime guarantee and an in house gunsmith if anything goes wrong with your firearm. Places like Academy will tell you you're screwed and that you have to send it to the Manufacturer which can take months. Not the case with Dury's. read more

My husband and I came into Dury's on 410 for the first time looking for a new hunting rifle for me and had literally the best experience ever. I'm a short stature lady and they got me into a rifle that was sized perfectly, which I've struggled with everywhere else I've gone. At other shops they typically ignore me and focus on my husband, even though I am the one shopping. At Dury's I was the focus; they spoke to me directly and asked what *I* wanted. They went to great efforts and ticked every box. While they installed a scope on my new Browning I was given a tour of their facility and met multiple members of the Dury family. Everyone was so gracious. This is a true family owned and operated business and it shows. I got to talking with Johnny Dury and explained that I am left handed but I've always shot right handed because that's how I was taught but he instructed me on how to do it left handed and it was an absolute game changer. All in all, I could not be more pleased with the level of service I received. Dropped off a Model 1897 12ga in Sept 22 to Gun Smith Mike Whalen. Expected 3mo working in the area before & after while using Dury's for FFL transfer. Great group from bottom to the Top. Mike's peridotitic updates under delivered what I picked up after 6 months. The shotgun looks brand new, re-blued, with metal smithing the barrel on past history dents for a manufacturer date if 1910. This gun is better than brand new now. Mike Rocks!!!! He was anxious to ask me if I was making a purchase for the guy that was with me then he asked can he purchase a weapon I told him to ask him. BEWARE!!! A staff member tried to sell me a used DDMV47 rifle as new! The rifle had been fired, cleaned and over oiled! The oil was leaking onto the lower/trigger assembly. After the staff member continued to convince me that the rifle was new and that the price was firm, I began to point out the friction point of the purchase. I point out the oil leakage, broke the rifle down and used my finger to show him that there was sludge on the bolt carrier group, as well inside the BCG housing, not to mention that there were scuff/scratch marks on the rifle. Don't try to sell a used rifle for full price when clearly its used. That's bad business. read more

Didn't realize the Hot Wells location had re-opened, but visited the NE Loop 410 during Christmas and it is a great little shop. Nice selection overall and I think a younger fella named RJ or JR not sure sold me a Ruger Security Six .357 for a great price. The fact he worked with me on price was awesome. Rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. Keep in mind this was literally the Saturday before Christmas even and they were pretty busy. I'll definitely be going back. I went by to get a revolver appraised that I wanted to sell. They quoted me a fair price. I didn't have the gun with me at the time because I decided to stop by after my Dr appt. The owner was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. Didn't try to take advantage of me being a woman. Another place did try to do that. The handgun was worth almost $900, but the other shop owner was only offering $100. C'mon dude, I knew what it was worth. I've had a couple pistols in storage for a long time and when I got them back, the movers had lost the keys to the locks :-/ I called Dury's and explained I had a couple locked guns - one with a barrel lock so even bolt cutters wouldn't take it off and they were like "just bring them in and we'll get it taken care of for you". So I went in the next day and, in less than 15 minutes they were all done and back with me ready to shoot. I think it was about $10 per lock, which is a great deal, and the staff was super polite and friendly. They take care to make sure everyone is safe as well with guns being checked as soon as you arrive (they're then banded with zip ties to make sure they're cleared) and the staff all wear masks and customers are required to as well. All in all, I don't know of anything more I could ask for in this case. Fast and polite customer service and they did exactly what I needed to get everything fixed. I'll definitely be back. (Spoiler alert though - they're almost out of all kinds of ammo for some reason; I think everywhere is lately) read more
