Dr Suzuki needs to take responsibility for discussing sedation options with extraction patients well before they make it to his chair. I drove a long way to have a molar extraction done and left knowing that I am not viewed as an individual with individual needs. In the first stages of having a fixed bridge created, I was expected to be awake for a molar extraction that turned out not only to be loud but also difficult; three roots had calcified to the bone, and they were pried back and forth, back and forth out of my head. I heard Every. Awful. Cracking sound and felt wave after wave of nausea from the intense pressure across my upper jaw. There was zero conversation about nitrous oxide prior to his just getting 'er done via local numbing -- only a curt ultimatum: I could drive all the way back to Berkeley and return another day if I wanted anaesthesia, or I could lay back and take it. He didn't hesitate to tell me the post-mauling details afterward while I sat there stunned. Why would I want to hear the gory details after I'd expected to have them mercifully blunted by lack of consciousness? No. This is not the 1800s.

He went in and they took X-rays and told him he needed to have root planing and scaling done. Price: $1000. Decided to call my own family dentist and it was only $160 out of pocket (with insurance). Horrible business.

Not sure if it the ADHD or just in general I'm a figgety person but also don't like my mouth being worth on. Very sensitive teeth. Anyways that out of the way, the front desk was super nice. The lobby was decent size not cramped, just right and some photos on the way. I had a slight wait from my appointment time. It wasn't much, but a staff member kept me up to date on time frame. Like 15 or 10 mins. I mean it wasn't bad. Now let's get to the dentist, * Pratik Makadia* , super nice guy, laid back, not to judgemental , just enough to help me get motivated to take care of my teeth better, but a super nice easy way of doing it. Highly recommend him if you do go. Now the visit itself, scared and crawling out of my skin. But the staff was super nice and friendly, and quick about things. They had a lot of cool tech stuff the when I was a kid well, never was around , and the tech just wasn't there. I'm in my 40s just fyi. The lady at the end of my visit went over all my bad teeth and costs, ouch. lol. But I knew I haven't been to the dentist in soooo long. But anyways, I really recommend you trying this place out. Not sure why it has a 3 ish star rating. So far I think they are very friendly, quick with their work but not crazy fast there in a hurry. Try them out, get that exam done. I go back next week for a cleaning.

I feel Lodi Family Dentistry was a very disappointing experience for me…read more On Thursday, April 11, 2024, I went to Lodi family dentistry, hoping to get some relief from an excruciating pain coming from my lower jaw. I was taking a shot with them because I'm new in the area and just took the first dental office who could take me. I was happy with the initial customer service as they accommodated me by seeing me a day earlier than my scheduled appointment. The initial exam with Xrays and assessment went well. However, when the dentist couldn't find where my pain was coming from, I was given a referral and antibiotics and told they would call for me. Once I got up from the chair, I was given the number to call myself and the door. No one helped me with the follow-up. I was in so much pain, and no one bothered to help me with the next steps. I left work with extreme pain, hoping to get help. Instead, I got a routine exam that used up my insurance visit for nothing. Feeling dejected and still in pain, I walked into the clinic next door and asked if they could see me and they said they could offer only similar services as Lodi Dental and recommended I seek the specialist they provided. The receptionist there called around and tried to see when was the soonest I could be seen at a few local specialists in the area and apologized that Lodi Dentistry did not help me further. I feel Lodi Dentistry left a patient unattended. Why was this? I'm not sure, but as a Black man, new to the area, in extreme pain, and a person who holds a doctorate in education, I feel my judgment in situations are pretty accurate. I'm a director of diversity, equity, and inclusion and sit on the legislative board for the state. I called back before I walked next door, but they apparently went to lunch right after I walked out of the door. Was there lunch more important than my pain? Whatever the reason, I feel this was a missed moment. I was looking at getting braces through them, but seeing how they couldn't care for me when I needed them most felt very uncomfortable, allowing them to have long-term care for me. No one called to check on me, and this was truly disappointing. I ended up going to Kaiser and received some pain medication to help me until the specialist could see me. There are literally over a dozen offices on the same block as Lodi Dentistry, and I will definitely never return there and recommend that any person of color find someone else to do business with. Look at their website. There are no people of color there. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.
