Gulliver's has an amazing staff, and facility. I am a very satisfied customer. I have never had any issues.

My dog has been there once for 4 days. Would not recommend for a long haired dog. She came home full of dirt and sand and mats. She was filthy! She had a bath immediately when she got home and will need a couple more to get her cleaned up. Had to cut off a lot of hair. It also seems like she is not her happy self and quite moppy. I was told they would email pictures. They didn't. The staff didn't have much to report besides she did well. I'm sure it works well for some dogs, just not great for ours unfortunately. read more

We bring our three rescue months to Gullivers on a regular basis. For a ridiculously low fee they bathe the dogs, trim their nails, clean their ears, and just generally love them. They know us and our dogs by name, and have forged personal relationships with our dogs. They always show an incredibly positive attitude and seemed genuinely pleased to see the dogs. This is an update to a previous post. We still can only comment on the drop-off dog washing service they provide. We still love the way Gulliver's treats our dogs. However, it appears their service of $10/dog for washing the dog/trimming the nails/checking the ears was a victim of its own success. They have had to up their rates considerably. They now charge $20 for a bath and an additional $10/dog for trimming the nails. We still drop them off occasionally, but not nearly as often, and they always do a great job. So if you want to spend the money, they will give you great service. read more

been using Gulliver's for 8 years, sadly that will be coming to an end. After 8 years of taking our pup to Gulliver's for Baths and grooming, and even having her stay there with them before, we have decided that will be coming to an end. We have always done walk in appointments but when my partner brought our pup in today, she was asked Abruptly "Who is this" and when she told her name, the person said, "what do you want." She replied she was there for grooming and the girl said, "MAKE a reservation!" as if it was something we should have known to do after 8 years of NOT having to make reservations in the past. She was given nothing but bad attitude and eye rolls by the woman working the front desk so we will just take our business elsewhere if they don't want to do it. I hope the owners realize that, given the number of 1star reviews I see here, they will not have a business much longer and they should be very careful about hiring people who drive their long-time loyal customers away. Not a winning strategy for long term business sucess but good luck we will find a new Groomer for our pet. read more

All three times our dog has gone for day care she has come home injured. In August she had a huge cut on her paw pad that required two vet visits. Today I picked her up and she had a bite under her eye. Very frustrating when you expect a safe place for a pet to be cared for. read more

I have been using Gulliver's for years and have never had a problem. Kennel cough vaccine is a must for any kennel that is a responsible kennel. So is having the canine influenza vaccine. For those complaining of the dog being dirty when you come to get him/her, just ask to have the dog to be hosed off. I have used more expensive boarding facilities in the past and the dogs come home just as smelly snd dirty. My dogs come home happy and tired. When we arrive they go in eagerly. Can't say that has been the case with other places i have used which is why I keep,coming back to Gulliver's. read more

My wife and I live in Williston and adopted a puppy. We started using day care in the late summer to socialize him with other dogs. We decided on Gulliver's because of the value. (Gulliver's is $8/day cheaper than Pet Lodge.) We were happy at first - our puppy would come home happy and exhausted. But filthy. Very filthy. Which made sense - seemed like the dogs spent most of the day outside in Gullivers' large outdoor play area which is all dirt. From what we could tell, there wasn't much of an indoor area. (You can't view the inside unless you go to one of their few open houses.) We became concerned that the dogs would either play outside in the winter or be cooped up inside. The last time we brought our dog, he came home whining, filthy, and had a wound on his paw which we only found out after he came home. Pros: $17/day is a great value, hands down. We live in Williston so it's very conveniently located. Dropping off our dog is as easy as coming in and handing them a leash. Our dog is exhausted when he comes home so he is (hopefully) getting a lot of play. There is a woman whose name I'm forgetting but she trains the puppies and she was very good with the animals. Cons: They do not allow you to inspect the facility unless you go to an open house. The last one was October 16th. That said, it appears the only large play area for the dogs is outdoors, meaning dogs are either outside during cold or bad weather, or inside which appears to be very small. The outdoor area is all dirt and my dog would be filthy every time he came home. Possibly too many dogs to supervise all at once, because our dog came home with a wound on his upper paw and we were not told. Overall: I wish I could continue using Gulliver's. The value is great. But we can't see their facilities being good for our dog in the winter or bad weather and he is very dirty when he comes home, and we do not like that he was hurt. read more

Let me just say my puppy (7 mo), Hunter LOVES Gulliver's! He gets all excited when he see's where we are going and cry's in the car when leaving...until he falls asleep!!! Gulliver's is friendly, they pay attention to your needs and know special quirks about your pup. Good cost! Love that you can get a night and keep them there the whole next day. We can only comment on their dog washing service - we have never boarded our dogs with them. But the dog washes are great. For $10 they will wash the dog, trim their nails and check their ears and clean them if needed. You can't find anyplace in town that will even trim nails for $10. We have three dogs and have dropped them off there many times for baths. After the first time, all we have to do is drop them off and at most tell them their names. They tell you to give them two hours - they said that's mostly to allow them time to dry off. We have gone back in an hour and a half at times and they have always been done and ready to go. We've never had any issues at all, and the dogs do come home clean and fresh. It's well worth it to us to pay them $10 rather than have to bathe them ourselves, and the nail trim and ear check make it a steal, in our opinion. read more

Terrible!!! Don't board your dog here! My boxer would go here once a week on average for doggie daycare . I let him board over night to get him use to staying over night. I boarded him for 2 Weeks and he lost 10 lbs, ate 45 lbs of dog food with in that time!? I had a back up plan and left the name and number of my relative who could pick him up if he wasn't doing well. Not once did I get a call informing me he was loosing weight a choice to get him out of this terrible facility !! He is a boxer with very short hair so how no one there couldn't see he was a walking Skeleton is beyond me! We were in shock when we picked him up, we were able to bring him to our vet and he had wounds he developed due to being malnourished ! Gullivers chose to ignore the whole situation. Stay Away from this place ! Positive reviews must be written by staff? There are a lot of FB posts how they clipped dogs nails to the point of bleeding ! read more

Be wary of this service... I loved Gulliver's up until my most recent experience with them. I brought my dog there for daycare several times a week for months and always had a great experience, great front desk staff and my dog always had a great time. I finally brought him to board for a weekend and had three requests about him sleeping with his blanket, getting a bone I brought for him, and getting walks before going in his crate for the night. Long story short, I pick him up, discover he had not gotten his bone, nor his blanket, nor his walks. It was also 20 degrees out, snowy and he was not wearing the jacket I brought. I pointed this out to the manager on duty and wrote an email to the general manager. A few days later I get am email from the general manager admitting that no, my dog did not get his bone, blanket, or walks (ignored the whole, freezing no-jacket thing), that mistakes do happen and that my dog is not welcome back again. Not sure why my dog wasn't given any of his belongings, or why no one told me the policies when I dropped him off, and am certainly confused as to why pointing out their error ended up in a ban. I had often wondered before as to why Gulliver's is so much cheaper than the other doggie daycares in the area, and I guess it's because you get what you pay for. :-/ read more

Taken my dogs here many times for multiple night boarding and never had a problem. The prices are reasonable, pick up/drop off times are good, and most importantly my dogs always come back very tired which is nice. I guess one thing to keep in mind from different reviews I've read here on Yelp and on other places is that this place is for DOGS. This may not be the boarding place you want to use for your 10 pound little dog that sleeps in your bed and wears a jacket in the winter. This place is for dogs who want to run around outside and play with other dogs and sleep in a crate. And of course your dog is going to smell a bit coming home, he's around 50 other dogs in a confined space, what do you expect, it's the same with any kennel. read more

I was referred to this daycare by a fellow nurse; needless to say DO NOT bring your precious baby to this facility. My pet was attacked and had his ear bitten along with a puncture hole on the back of his neck. I telephoned the facility and asked if anything happened that I need to be aware of. They said "no". I had to inform them of this incident. They tried to make it sound as if it just happened when I picked him up; the blood was dried in his ear, down the ear canal and also on the back of his neck. My dog came home from three days here miserable and reeking of urine. Didn't like the way we were treated when we dropped her off - couldn't even give her a small pillow for her bad hips because the staff said the crate was too small. That should've tipped us off but we gave it a try. Overcrowded and obviously poorly sanitized. Will never go back. read more

I don't actually live in Vermont, but I am there A LOT. And any time I am, I drop my dog at Gullivers. He is so happy to go there and always comes back tuckered out. The staff are real animal people. I never worry when he's there and you can't beat the price. I love this place. read more

My dog loved it here. They make it hard for me to like them though. Dog got kennel cough here. They are also the only place I've ever been to that REQUIRES dog flu shots (traveling for work in NE means I visit a ton of doggy day care joints). What's up with that?? This policy was put in place earlier in 2013. They let me keep the dog there the first time after the policy was put in place but they won't let him stay now unless he gets the shot. Since I travel to Burlington for work only once in a while it isn't worth my time/money to take the dog to the vet for a stupid unnecessary flu shot. DO NOT take your dog here. My dog was bit there and the staff and owner said it was a "nip" and a "small tear." I arrived to pick him up and I was mortified to see his ear was mangled. He needed emergency surgery and the vet bills ended up costing $590!! Gulliver's NEVER called to see how he was or if they could do anything for us. They just took down all reviews on their Facebook page because they're receiving so many negative ones; most recently a girl who boarded her dog there and when she picked him up he was emaciated! The owner is classless and unprofessional. I've talked many people around my apartment complex out of taking their dogs there. I worked at a doggie daycare before and believe me, Gulliver's is NO place to bring your pet. read more

I would never recommend this business! Our son brought his dog to be groomed and left with one of his nails bleeding and their explanation was that he must have hurt it on the door of the holding kennel. After a closer examination, it was without question, a nail cut too short. They also got lazy and decided to only wash his lower half and neglect to wash his head. If I could give Gulliver's a zero star rating, I would. They allowed my dog to be covered in her own urine from a seizure for over 10 hours after I had specifically asked her to have a bath when I dropped her off. She seized in the back of my car on the way there. She is a white dog so you can SEE the yellow pee all down her side. When I picked her up that evening, she was still covered in it. The weekend before that, she was boarded for the weekend so I could go to drill, and when I picked her up she was limping, her nose and pads were bright pink and swollen, and she had marks on the inside of her back leg. They said she "may have" been rough housing with a larger dog. When I got home she physically could not get out of the car. I had to pick her up and carry her inside. She began to shake and that is how she fell asleep that night and spend the next two days. Shaking, swollen, and scared. I called back and asked what had happened and again their response was, "She must have been playing rough with a larger dog." They clearly do not supervise the dogs that are there because I was not given a real answer as to why my dog was so obviously in pain and traumatized. The first day we were there, their way of introducing a shy, timid, on the smaller size dog to 30 others is bringing her out on a leash, allowing 10 other dogs to do as they please while she cowers up against the fence, and the staff just stands there and sprays the dogs with a water bottle if they get too rough. I am utterly disgusted with the staff and their obvious neglect to care for my dog. She will not be returning to Gullivers. I don't believe that I should be paying, or have paid, for horrible service, no love or care for my animal, and complete disregard for her health and safety. I whole heartedly believe that anyone who reads this should seriously reconsider bringing their light and joy to a place like this. read more

My Dog Tanner goes a bit Wacko if I ask Him if he wants to go to Day Care Tomorrow. Wont stop bothering me from the time I get out of bed until we leave. As we get close to the place He KNOWS EXACTLY!!!!! Ask them to give Him a bath and cut his nails and clean his ears. 95 % of the time his nails are clipped. Some times they miss One Or Two, Oh well Hes a 87# 5 year old Pit and they do the better than I could do!!! Tanner comes home EXHAUSTED!! Curls up on his Bed next to my Chair and I don't hear him till bed time. Just they were open later... I work 7am until 7pm (you know where) so unless I can get someone to pick him up I have to schedule Vacation time in advance.. SO HE CAN HAVE FUN. All in all a Great place. read more

We went on vacation for almost a week and left our pup here. They post pictures daily of the dogs playing on Facebook so it was nice seeing our dog having fun--for the first day. Then two days went by and our dog was not seen in any of the over 100 pictures they took. I got worried and called three days into our trip and was told that it was because there are so many dogs it's impossible to get a picture of them all! That didn't sit well with me because our dog could not be seen day after day in any pictures. Finally, it was pickup day and I asked what happened, why wasn't he in any pictures? Well, supposedly, our dog and another dog had a "scuffle" so he was secluded from the rest of the pack the entire time!! I want to know why I wasn't told this when I called on day 3? The manager then came out and tried to assure me that the scuffle WASN'T MY DOG'S FAULT. Whattt?!?!? Then why was HE the one secluded and not the other dog? Never again. There's a reason why it's cheap. read more

We boarded our dog here for an overnight and he came home with his nose and paws rubbed raw and bleeding. He was also absolutely FILTHY. Clearly they do not watch the dogs, they just keave them to their own devices. Also, do not pay in cash. They will send you bills saying you didn't pay 6 months after a horrible experience. We boarded our dog here on the recommendation from a family member. I called and asked lots of questions, including where my fur baby would sleep. They told me about the different cages and pens. I explained that he did not like cages and I/he would prefer he be housed in a pen. I was told no problem. Got there to drop him off and it was a bit crazy with pick ups going on and they couldn't take the time to great me or my fur baby let alone allow us to see the facility. This should have been a big clue not to leave him. I reminded the girl about him being in a pen versus a crate and was told they were too busy and that wasn't going to happen. I told her about my conversation the previous week and she told me I had been told wrong. She went out back and came back out and told us they would rearrange some dogs to make it work. Called on day 1, 3 & 5 and was told he was doing great. Called about an hour and a half before we were planning to pick up to make sure he would have a BATH as we were told yet when we picked him up and he had just been hosed off, NOT a bath. He was filthy and extremely smelly. He was hoarse and couldn't really bark. This told us, that most likely he was crated and therefore barked all week. 2 1/2 weeks of being home and he still has EXTREME separation anxiety. I had to take him to the vet and they believe he was traumatized at Gulliver's and is now having to take anti-anxiety meds in hopes of correcting his behavior. This place may be ok for big dogs, but DO NOT bring your small, well behaved dog there because your baby will not come back the same sweet dog he has been for 10 years. They also did not return his favorite toy or blanket in their haste to get us out. Pay the extra money and take your beloved pet to someone that will assure you that your dog is well taken care of, as the saying goes you get what you pay for. read more

if you want your dog sprayed in the face with a water bottle when it gets near humans for affection then this is the place for you! workers there abuse the power, I have worked there I know this for a fact. Also most of the managers are NOT passionate about the animals!! they talk about them like they are stupid and talk to the workers who actually care like they are stupid. The place is tiny if they all had to be inside and if your dog is too hyper it will just be crated all day inside or outside and is probably learning bad habits. I would have loved this place if it were ok to actually engage with the dogs instead of abuse them. read more

It's not terrible, but not a good fit for my dog. The first time I picked my dog up from boarding, the staff member went into the back and was yelling at the dogs to be quiet. Which granted, dogs are loud and it can be annoying, but it made me uneasy, as did their refusal to let me see the facilities. After a few days of daycare, when I would bring my dog in, he would try to run back out the door with me. Nothing bad happened that I know of, and my dog was certainly tired at the end of the day, but I decided to go elsewhere. read more

This place is fine for well behaved big dogs who go for daycare. If you have a small dog who is sensitive to the cold DO NOT BRING HIM/HER HERE! I used to work here and even inside it is way too cold for small dogs. They are outside all day, even in winter, regardless of conditions and often without a coat. Even if I brought them inside it isn't much better because there isn't a real door between inside and outside, the crates are metal and far too cold for small dogs. If you have a dog that is not very well behaved or does not get along extremely well with other dogs, they will just be left inside in their kennel. I know they advertise socializing dogs, but often there would be one dog who would cause the other dogs to get riled up and so would just be left in the kennel most of the day. As for boarding, again do not bring a small dog here, way too cold. If you have a big dog, it is ok but it is still cold, they sleep in kennels in a garage room, and the place is overall disgusting. Even while working there inside I would have to wear numerous layers and boots because it was too cold for me, so I am sure it is for most dogs too. It isn't all bad though, like I said, if you have a big well behaved dog it is a great deal. As for not well behaved big dogs, you are pretty much paying 15 bucks to have someone take them out for potty breaks a few times a day, which might be worth it and be better than leaving the dog alone at home. I loved the convenience of bringing my dog here, I could drop him off without an appointment and all the girls were so sweet and loving towards him, always remembered his name and he soaked up the attention. After awhile I noticed he became anxious when we drove in the direction of the kennel, I thought it was normal anxiety (although he usually loved the kennel and playing with all the dogs). Then I noticed he had become pathologically frightened of the 'manager' of the kennel. He loved everyone there but would be terrified whenever she entered the area and try frantically to run and hide. I continued in denial until last year. The last time he refused to come to me because he would have had to pass by her. He normally is frantically thrilled to see me. For him to be so terrified indicates something is wrong. The owners are not available and never there, they do not allow customers to see the facility, there is no way to talk to anyone else in charge or issue a complaint. I go on business trips often and have begun using another facility, it's not as convenient but I no longer feel like I'm leaving my dog in the care of nurse ratchet. And my dog no longer trembles and cries when we go to the kennel. I don't know what's happened to this place, but I would not leave any pet there. read more

We boarded our 12 year old Australian Shepard for the first time ever at Gulliver's while we were on vacation. The folks at Gulliver's posted pictures of her every day and even emailed some directly to me. We knew she was having a great time and we we told she was doing very well when we called in to check on her. I picked her up when we returned home and noticed immediately that she had a terrible barky cough. I took her to the emergency vet and she was diagnosed with kennel cough. She is now on antibiotics. I called Gulliver's to notify them, in case others had a problem. was told someone would call me to follow up. I never did get a follow up call. While I understand that kennel cough is common, I am really concerned that no one mentioned this cough to me when I picked her up. I find it curious that no one would notice it. Bottom line, mixed review. Sweet Pea clearly had fun playing with the other dogs, but I am disappointed that when I picked her up, she was sick and no one mentioned it to me and that there was no follow up. We will have someone stay with her at home in the future read more
