If you have a workers' compensation injury, do not go to Gulf Orthopedic, and do not see Dr…read more Clayton Lane. My experience with this practice proved that insurance timelines and corporate interests take absolute priority over patient health, objective medical facts, and safety.
I underwent two major surgeries: a complex left shoulder procedure on November 19, 2025 (for a Type V AC dislocation, coracoclavicular ligament tear, and a Bankart tear with severe synovitis and chondromalacia requiring extensive debridement), followed by a left arm ulnar nerve decompression and transposition surgery on June 2, 2026.
Dr. Lane's practice completely failed me in accuracy, pain management, and basic clinical oversight. On July 13, 2026, my medical documentation explicitly stated I had a strict 5-pound weight-bearing restriction on my left shoulder, with an FCE and Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) discussion set for August 24, 2026. Yet, during that August 24 appointment, I was abruptly released to full duty with absolutely zero restrictions or weight limitations.
How does a patient progress from a 5-pound lifting limit to unlimited full duty in just six weeks after consecutive, highly invasive surgeries? It is medically absurd. Dr. Lane ignored my clear reports of inadequate range of motion, severe diminished strength in my left arm, and an alarming catching and grinding sensation deep inside my shoulder joint. Furthermore, he completely disregarded ongoing nerve symptoms, including continued numbness in my right hand and diminished strength in my right arm.
The medical reports generated by this office are inaccurate and rushed to prematurely force an MMI status due to workers' compensation involvement. I felt entirely dismissed, ignored, and discriminated against as a minority patient. This practice did not heal me; they simply cleared their paperwork at the expense of my physical well-being.
