So I needed new strings for a baritone ukulele. Guitar center doesn't actually stock baritone ukulele, strings, but that of course makes sense because they maybe get a request for that a couple times a year. I was, however, able to get the exact cable that I needed for my amp and they had a good selection. But the real pleasure was just going into the store, seeing the rows and rows of guitars along the wall, and hearing different customers try them out. read more

After waiting an hour to be helped I tried to sell them a midi keyboard with weighted keys and the manager said "we cannot take this without a power chord". I went to walmart, bought the correct $20 power chord, and came back. The same guy tells me "we don't buy midi keyboards". Location was in a quiet Plaza. Clean inside. Had the entire place to our selves. Came in for guitar picks, met some guitar guys, heard some jams, loved the setup. Service was so kind. Guy working told us his own views and gave us suggestions on what we needed. Also was a discount for the weekend so he applied it to us, even though we didn't ask. Super kind. I thought thats impossible so I spoke to AJ who set up the appointment to ask him if he checked his instructors credentials to determine if he was qualified to give piano lessons. He had no answer. This is by far my favorite guitar center. The staff is great and knowledgeable (right on their name tags, they have their area of expertise - guitar, piano etc) but they don't hover while you look around. They let you do what you do, even encouraging you to try all the guitars (and other instruments) you want. They only pop in from time to time to ask if you have any questions or need any help. They do have a luthier there so you can get your guitar fixed/set up. They also have lessons you can sign up for (i haven't done this... but I've been considering it) They are constantly stocking up with new guitars... I'm like a kid in a candy store! We come here often enough just play around with the ones we can't afford...yet :-p (yes you Taylor 312ce .. I'm looking at you. ) read more

How can I leave zero stars? I dropped off a guitar to be restrung on Saturday and was told it would be finished no problem. I came to pick it up on TUESDAY and no one had even touched the guitar. In fact, it was sitting in the exact same spot it had been placed when it was originally dropped off. I even reached out to them via phone before picking it up to make sure it was ready. Surprise, it wasn't. The person we spoke to said he would make sure to tell the tech that it needed to be finished ASAP, as we needed the guitar that night for a WEDDING. I eventually arrived to pick it up a few hours later, and IT STILL WASN'T DONE. The tech was clearly never informed and had left for the day by the time I got there. I asked who of the 3 front desk staff I had spoken to on the phone earlier. They all denied ever having spoken to anyone and did not take any responsibility for the situation. This really fucked us over. They had 4 days to restring ONE guitar. It takes like 20 minutes to do. The staff doubling down and claiming it wasn't their fault was the cherry on top. read more

I went in to purchase a JBL ION on Saturday 11/7/2020 that was supposed to be a nice and easy buy and I even had a Fender Squire Strat to trade which retails at $219.00 new with the amp that I brought in as well. Mack and his coworker I didn't catch the other store representative name but he had long Justin Bieber like hair, had quoted me $99.99 for just the guitar because the amp was too small the night before close and stated because it was an hour before close that there were no more trade ins allowed. NO PROBLEM, I stated I will be back in the morning and will exchange and buy the speaker then. When I got to the store this morning I guess Mack decided to change his mind about the trade in and low balled me at $40 for a $220 mint condition guitar as he smirked and grinned, disappointed but not surprised I did not take the deal because I believe it's worth more and decided to just pay for the speaker and call it a day. I didn't bring my credit cards with me, I rarely do since most of these days I'm terrified of getting sick and APPLE PAY IS ACCEPTED EVERYWHERE. I asked the rep Mack to pay with Apple Pay, he stated that it wasn't accepted but that I can and qoute " buy and e-gift cart it take ABSOLUTELY NO TIME AT ALL and we will get you out of here" you can put up to 2000:"Appreciative of the solution I quickly bought the gift cart at approx. 11:31am mind you I got to the store on 11/08 at 11:02am, thinking this would only take 5-10 mins I waited it was around 11:48 that I was frustrated still not to receive the funds for my purchase I call customer service where the Rep on the phone made a muck of the process even more. In all my gift card of 700.00 got cancelled and my 700.00 won't be available for over 5 Days which puts me out of money and a product that I've been looking to purchase now with a local store vs Amazon. I had gigs booked for this week as well that I'm losing out on money as well what a shame. It's a day later and I am still really angry and upset at the sales tactic in this store. When you go in and define that you are on a budget, you expect them to listen to you. But no, not here. Pushing to sell the warranty, pushing to sell me items I didn't need right now at this time (but could have come back to purchase at a later date), all I felt was PUSH PUSH PUSH once I got to the register. It got to the point where I snapped and felt pressured and just walked out. I won't be back. I may give another location a chance but not in Delray. The customer may not always be right but you have to listen and work with the customer to gain their respect and trust. This store has lost mine. read more

People are often more motivated to post reviews when something goes wrong, which is understandable, but incredible service also deserves to be recognized. I cannot say enough good things about the Delray Beach Guitar Center. Even though GC is the largest music store in the world, Cory Haksel and his team made me feel as though I was dealing with a family-owned store. I ordered a digital piano in July, and was told that it was back-ordered until early September, because of the world-wide chip shortage and the huge demand for this new model. When I called last week to check on what was happening, I learned that the manufacturer had pushed back delivery until October. I didn't want to wait that long, especially since I suspected it might be pushed back again. Cory helped me find another piano that was an even better fit for my wants and needs, and was still within my budget, and would reach me in a few days. He is a natural problem-solver, which makes all the difference. I also needed to arrange to have the piano delivered to GC and then brought to my house and assembled, because I couldn't possibly do that myself. GC doesn't provide this type of service, but Cory put together the right people from his team to do the job for me as a private service. The piano arrived at GC this morning and was assembled for me only a couple of hours later. The whole process was seamless. Props to Travis and Anthony for an incredibly job installing my new piano, and to Bryan, who is the person I worked with on my initial calls. The culture of an organization is established by the person at the top. Cory has built a wonderful team of dedicated, positive, customer-focused people who all go above and beyond to find ways to say "yes" to the customer even in challenging situations. read more

I have seen this done at numerous stores, they put the wrong price on the shelf of some of their items to get you to take it, then when you bring it to the cashier they obviously tell you the price was wrong and it's always higher. However, that is against the law and falls under false advertising. A number of places will honor the lower price but not Guitar Center. In fact, the manager was so rude that if I didn't need the item at the time there is no way I would have paid that price. However, because of his greed they lost a lifetime customer because in general, I do like guitar center but will never return. Obviously they don't get the penny wise pound foolish thing. read more

Had a frustrating and miserable buying experience at this Delray Beach store on the 4th of July. I felt like I was in a Three Stooges episode, with a bunch of young, obviously not-well-trained, knuckleheads trying to complete the sale and get me out of the store. I was waiting to hear a "Woo woo woo woo," from Curly in the crowd. Before I get into the gory details it's worth noting Adam, the guitar tech, was the only one who finally stepped up, found a workaround, and got me out of the store, merchandise in hand. He did, however, have to run my AMEX card again, so at the moment, I've paid for the $200 amp, twice. Now, I'll need to waste more of my time speaking with AMEX. I left an older Yamaha electric guitar to have it tuned up by Adam and went on to do some errands. He called about an hour and a half later to tell me he couldn't do it because there was a crack in the body and if he tried to restring it, the guitar might crack, violently, at some point in the future. I said it made sense and will come by to pick it up later in the day. When I returned I thought I'd look around (kid in a candy store) to see if there was anything I need. I decided to buy a Line 6 30-watt amp; retail $199. Now. here's where it all fell apart. It took a few minutes to find it in stock, and that was fine. I made it up to the register and when Adam scanned it, I learned it was on sale for $169. Cool. He rang it up, I inserted my AMEX card, approved, signed, done. He could not print my receipt, however. He moved to another computer monitor, nope, no success. Another stooge tried to assist; nothing. The "system" kept asking for a SKU number which, evidently, was not on the box. They went on to check the other three amps in stock, including the floor model, and not one had a SKU number. After about 15-20 minutes of this, I was getting impatient. I asked if an authorized person could just write a note that I paid for it and took the merchandise, but was told: "we cannot do that." As COO of the institutional services division of one of the largest RIAs in the state of Florida, my Operations DNA kicked in and I wondered.., "why am I, the customer, involved with system issues at Guitar Center?" Shouldn't they take care of the customer and work it out, internally, after the fact?" Of course, they should. After nearly 25 minutes of the Three Stooges show, I just couldn't take it anymore and asked for a credit so I could get the hell outta there! One salesperson said they already deleted it from the system, but I said the credit did not appear on my AMEX app, like the charge did. I said just because it's not on your system doesn't mean any credit was communicated to AMEX. As I write this today, I don't believe it was. So now I can't leave with the merchandise and proof of purchase, and they can't give me a credit because they said it's not in the system. You can't make this stuff up. There's more... Now, another Stooge, perhaps "Larry," said he'll have to call the manager "who's been there for over 10 years," to find out how to handle this. Alright. But every time he tried to leave the register bullpen to, I guess, get the number and make the call, HE CONTINUED TO RING UP NEW CUSTOMERS TRYING TO CHECK OUT AS I STOOD THERE IN DISBELIEF. Finally, another attempt to leave when two new guys came up to the register and the salesperson asked, 'how can I help you?" I jumped in and said, "HEY, you gotta take care of my situation first!" The two customers agreed and told him to take care of me first. Now, we're at least 30 minutes in, and I think I'm being kind. Finally, after getting my fill of curt answers from the staff and still being unable to leave the store, I said, "you're not going to like my online review." Then one younger jerk sarcastically responded, "no one reads those reviews, anyway. Type away!" In my field, this would have resulted in a minimum two-week suspension IF it were the first offense. You just don't speak to clients/customers that way. Adam, the guitar tech, finally chimed in, did something with a gift card, I think, and I was able to leave with the merchandise and a receipt. I did have to run through my AMEX card again. He asked me to wait a few days to see if the credit in their system appears on my AMEX card. I don't believe it will, but I'll give it a few business days. I will not be going back to this store. Hello Amazon; an easy, customer-friendly place to shop. read more

This place is ridiculous. I went in to trade up a Martin backpacker guitar for an electric traveler guitar. They guy at the register was nice and helped me get the process going. Turned out guitar center would only offer me $77 dollars for my $200+ Martin guitar. They offered an additional 10% off the new guitar so I said what the heck. 15 minutes later after collecting all of my data, the manager comes over and tells the employee who was helping me to do a bridge check. At first everything checks out, then he tells the guy to get a finer paper which they are able to slightly insert in one corner of the bridge. The manager then tells me there is no way he could accept my guitar and insinuates that it is worthless. What a waste of time. Offer me peanuts for my perfectly good guitar and then insult my instrument which is barely used. read more

i went in with brand new aux to aux convertor and on my cords and asked the associate to watch my cords- (when i grabbed another cord to purchase max 20seconds) in my bin on the counter, the aux to aux convertor was taken off of my cords/ or taken away from my belongings by the time I left. as i was checking out the other guy said, "look what this lady donated to the store earlier" and it was a guitar clip; after getting home and seeing my brand new aux to aux convertor was detached or at least removed from my bin/ pile- i realized oh no they must of thought asking to watch my stuff means take some donations! i called and asked to speak with the associate who checked me out using his first name. i explained my convertor must of been left on the counter and to hold it for my as it was NOT A DONATION to the store; he told me to hold on and he will check for it; he said he found it... I am better off going to the boutique shop where I got the aux convertor in the first place... Customers are not donating convertors and clips just because employees are... read more

Horrible service - very rude on the phone and they lost my guitar when I dropped it off for a restring - would not recommend

I went on a Friday and arrived about 10 minutes before closing, the employee did not let me choose the guitar, even one of the salespeople wanting to attend and show me, but one of the salespeople (I think it was even the manager because of the way he imposed himself and did not allow me the salesman attend me by the time). I explained that I was not from the region and had just gone to choose the guitar and buy at the time, but I had caught traffic, and even that, he was extremely rude and didn't allow it, even before closing time. read more

Let me begin by stating that I have spent thousands of dollars at Guitar Centers over the past decade...I am a part time professional musician My experience at the Delray store was beyond anything I'd ever seen. On August 9 2018 I purchases a PA speaker and an XLR cable. One month later the cable proved to be defective. I returned it to the store expecting, as any regular customer, to simply swap out the defective cable for another equal cable. At the time I purchased it, I was pressured to purchase an extended warranty on the $150 purchase I made. I don't believe in buying insurance at a GUITAR store. I declined: was pressured further, and when it was apparent I was not going to buy insurance, i was permitted to pay for my merchandise and leave. One month later...speaking to the Guitar Center "insurance salesman" about my defective cable, I was told that the Livewire cable was not their brand so they would not replace it I was expected to buy a new cable.. I responded "I don't care...I bought it here" His snarky response was "I don't care either......you should have bought the extended warranty." Are you going to buy this new cable?" My response was .."not from you." Nothing they sell is "their brand" ...maybe plectrums with their logo on it. Don't waste your time posting any complaints on this company's website...they really don't care..received no response from the company. Anything I need from now on, I will check with my local mom and pop music store...a little more expensive ...but at least they are honest. If I need something they can't get for me, I will be sending my business to Sam Axe. If I were you, whoever you are...stay away from these guys. read more
