One of the worst merchant I have ever come across, Charges out of the this world. You would be better of going to Guitar Center for a simple tune up. Michael is a genius. I agree with the other review - my guitars have played so much better and have felt more comfortable and much easier to play and sound so much better. Michael is a master and a rarity. He truly knows how to bring the best out of an instrument - I've had others work on my guitars from WPB to Lauderdale and Michael is the best bar none. He's also a super nice guy and a gas to chat with. If you need a repair by tomorrow, go somewhere else. Here is a situation where a so-called repairman has no clue as to what he's doing. Guessing about how to fix electric guitars worth thousands of dollars just doesn't cut it. He talked a good game, but the results were the pits. After screwing up a simple set up, he actually tried to convince me I had bought a lemon! I wound up at Guitar Center...$75 dollars and 30 minutes later...PERFECT. This place should be called scam city. read more

I took a brand new Suhr guitar in for a basic set up. The guitar that I purchased was buzzing and all I was looking for was a simple set up . After looking at the guitar for a couple of minutes Michael proclaimed that my frets are uneven. that I need to send my guitar back to the manufacturer or retailer. I was honestly shocked to hear this and I politely explained that they were stainless steel frets an all Suhr guitars are plekked. I grab my guitar as quickly as possible realizing this guy does not know what he's talking about. I grab my guitar as quickly as possible realizing this guy does not know what he's talking about. I went over to guitar center five minutes away and then 65 seconds later after two turns of the truss rod, The buzz was completely gone. The guitar still needed to be set up. But I couldn't believe in one minute Guitar Tech solve the problem and no the guitar did not need to be sent back to Suhr. I normally never write negative reviews . but this guy just does not know what he's doing and I hope I saved somebody else from wasting their time going to the guitar Hospital. i've been a professional performing musician for over 30 years. Dishonest Hustler Brought my Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul in for a cracked neck repair. The out dated website for this business told of many years of experience. I decided to trust the guy I met there, who only reveals himself as "Michael", in person and on his business card. Went in with my guitar on October 11, 2022 and he said it would be repaired and look like it was never damaged. He quoted the price at $500.00 for the repair. I agreed and left my guitar there for repair. He said it would be done before Christmas. Michael never contacted me before Christmas. I remained patient, and then called him on January 12, 2023. I reminded him that he told me it would be done before Christmas and he did not acknowledge this. He told me to call back in 4-6 weeks. I called him again on February 13, 2023 and he said it still wasn't ready and that he would call me when it is done. Two days later he called me to tell me it was done so I went right down to get it. The guitar repair looks great....so far. However, instead of the original price of $500.00 we agreed on, he charged me $675.00! I reminded him of the original quote he gave and he said that he usually says the cost could be higher, which I told him he NEVER said to me on the day I dropped off the guitar. This is clear evidence that this guy is a dishonest business man. It seems like a hustle, plain and simple. Do not trust this guy to be a man of his word. Only time will tell if the repair is as good as it appears. I should've checked the reviews! read more

YOU WILL BE SORRY...the good reviews must be his relatives because my experience with this guy was a nightmare. In addition to zero ability, he's a outright liar. I went in for a fret job on my Martin D-28. The results were the worst ever and I've had several fret jobs on this guitar. The workmanship was sooo bad I could hardly play it. To make matters worse...this fool argued with me and actually told me it was my style of play that was the problem. That's when I lost it. He finally acquiesced and redid the entire job....although it did take him 2 1/2 WEEKS! Do not trust this guy....he'll dance and sing but the work SUCKS. read more

I called up there to describe a minor issue with a new, very inexpensive bass (Squire) that I wanted to learn to play. It was "buzzzing" so badly that I could not even begin to learn on it. FIFTEEN MINUTES after entering the shop I was on my way with a perfectly set-up bass that no longer "buzzes" at all. The charge was $10.00!!! He made a number of adjustments to the neck, bridge, strings, etc. using a gauge and other tools. I can tell you that I purchased an American Strat and amp from a local LARGE music store chain and they charged me 50.00 for them to "set-up" the new instrument that cost a bunch over 1000.00! Evidently, if you are a true professional you can do simple (not to me!) set-ups quickly and accurately for a more-than-fair price. From the looks of the shop, LOTS of real musicians trust this shop with their instruments. This is clearly the shop to patronize. 'Nuff said, right? read more

Michel took a Taylor Mini that was a huge disappointment and turned it into a fantastic guitar. Before I brought it to him, I found it impossible to tune. Its action was so bad, I couldn't play barre chords. It was horribly out of tune when I used a capo with it. Just a really disappointing guitar, especially for a Taylor. I brought it to Michel at Guitar Hospital and he immediately recognized its problems. He contacted the company and convinced them that it had problems they should cover and they did. When I got it back from Michel only a few days later, it was like a completely different guitar. It's easy to tune and it keeps a tune very well. The action is fantastic and barre chords are easy to play. I love playing this guitar now! I'm so grateful to this place. read more

When I brought my Washburn 12 string guitar to Michel for an initial setup, it was a good guitar. When I picked it up, it was a GREAT guitar. Michel took the time to thoroughly inspect the guitar and to discuss his thoughts and recommendations, and with a tweak here and there it now plays, feels, and sounds exactly the way I had hoped it would. I bought a Gibson les paul and it got a short. Much to my horror when I opened it up everything was connected to a cheap circuit board! I bought it to the Guitar hospital and Mike totally rewired it and it came out perfect. Great service and I would highly recommend it. Also shame on Gibson for putting such cheap material in the guitar, That is not right! Open yours up before you buy it, as its impossible to fix a short without replacing the entire circuit board or having it totally rewired. read more

Michel is a guitar guru and a person of true ethics. I was there and a visiting musician brought in a LP Custom with cutting out. Mike could have just replaced the jack as the guy requested and charged him $20-50, but he spent 20 minutes check the pickups, and all related wiring and refused to do unnecessary work to pad the bill and he refused to charge this guy. I had my guitar in for a setup and had gotten the job. Mike took my acoustic apart taught me how to remove the electronic, adjusted the neck and saddle, and refused to take any money. He has charged me before and the price was half the fee i paid at the guitar center to a novice tech who had no time for my. I do not want any bad surprises so I go to Michel. Trust me, I have been to many bad techs who have ruined my guitar, over charged me, or held the guitar for years before repairing. Meeting Michel was my good fortune and I have learned a lot about guitars, tuning, string gauge, necks, nuts and saddles, e- repairs and people. read more
