I went inside Guitar Center for the first time. I have driven by them many times in North Arlington. I never stopped before because I do not play any instruments. We stopped by to get a gift card for Christmas. I am glad I went inside the store was fun just to look around. Guitar Center has much more than guitars. If you want a guitar, they have new or used guitars electric or acoustic. All price range and name brands. Plus, they have different rooms with drums, synthesizer, speakers, and part and accessories. Service was good store was big plenty of stuff. This is a fun store to look around maybe it will inspire you to learn to play. read more

This team of musicians that teach and guide customers is phenomenal. My son is taught by Mr. Zach Protono, and he is a very gifted instructor. Within a year my son was playing music by Rush. Mark Tenorio is an awesome coordinator and does a great job of setting up showcases for the students to share their progress. All of the staff has been extremely kind and they are all super humble. I've just started guitar lessons and I couldn't be happier. They offer a wide range of instruction for multiple instruments and vocal lessons. New instructors and new lessons have just been added. The staff is always friendly, both out on the floor and in the learning center. The store carries a lot of gear and has plenty of helpful services. I live in the country and have a very sweet and accommodating music shop I usually go to but when I'm in DFW, Arlington Guitar Center is my best bet. WOW is there a difference in the way they treat their customers. The employees here have a real attitude problem. I've been laughed at for asking some reasonable questions and responded to with sarcasm. They'll watch you circle through the isles looking for something and refuse to offer help. Not sure where they hire these people... the ego mania job fair? They seem to be living in some fantasy land where they'll one day be big shot rock stars and that energy just fills the store. That old cliche of guitar center employees still rings true at this location. Two stars because it is convenient if you're in a pinch. But overall it's incredibly overpriced, and the service is downright repulsive. Music deserves better. read more

I ordered three song books (PVG, easy guitar, and guitar tablature) on their website. The PVG one came in damaged condition and had clearly been used. Corner crushed in, bends/creases in cover, pages torn, and even portions of the book HIGHLIGHTED. The other two books were in immaculate condition. I came and asked for a refund. The employee at the front said they didn't give refunds on books and deferred to the manager Austin. He reiterated this and explained it was because of potential copyright issues. I confirmed this on their website so I dropped it and proceeded to ask for an exchange at least since the book was so damaged. He spends the next 20 minutes trying to arrange for a new book to be ordered and verifying my address. Then he tells me that the book is no longer in stock and there aren't any in the distribution centers either. He said I literally purchased the last book in existence at guitar center and told me there was nothing else he could do. I asked for store credit and he told me absolutely not. At this point I started to complain. No refunds. No exchanges. No store credit. Nothing for the damaged book. He argues with me and tells me that the book is only "lightly" damaged, everything is still there, and "you can still read it". After arguing further, he tells me he can give me a discount of 25%. After denying this, he tells me I can either have 25% off or 0% off instead. This should go without being said but you should never sell damaged/used products as new to a customer and refuse to resolve the problem when they unsurprisingly have an issue with it. I know he himself did not sell me the damaged product but his blatant refusal to resolve the matter with multiple obvious solutions .. Ridiculous. I seldom leave reviews and I couldn't care less about a song book but it's a must when I experience terrible customer service of this magnitude. Will be filing a dispute with my credit card company and contacting guitar center too. One way or another, I will be getting my money back anyway. I absolutely love this location. The staff is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I went in today to get the action on my acoustic guitar adjusted. The tech who worked on it was named Donnie. He was a very nice older gentleman who was clearly an expert with guitars. I was originally leery of having anyone touch my very sentimental instrument, but his expertise was assuring. He made quick work of it, and I was out of there in just a few minutes. If I ever need anything else done on any of my instruments, I can trust that he will do it right! read more

Not coming back to the Arlington TX location again! I've been a customer for decades and had bought so many different items in my musical quest. Now that I own high-end instruments it turns out that they aren't worth anything. so, I'm only cool when I'm buying a 3k guitar but not very cool when I'm trying to trade it. I asked to speak to a manager and see if he could assist me with the trade, but he seemed more interested in helping people calling the store or those who were in line next to me while talking down on my instrument (that by the way took me so much effort to acquire). I wanted to get a decent trade price so I could add another 6 to 800 dollars and buy a guitar that was listed for much less than mine. but all the manager did was talk down on my instrument (funny how the previous person rated my instrument as great almost mint condition and the manager could only talk bad about it). I've been shopping here since the 1st day it opened(maybe '91..I was 11)Was in the bass department tonight for 20 minutes, right in view of the front desk, trying out amps and got zero help. 3 stars... Because there is always that one jaded employee working for commission that doesn't care about you. That being said, not all of the employees at Guitar Center are hawks. For the past decade this location has been my go-to for musical gear. I've purchased amps, guitars, strings, picks, pedals, straps etc. Never once have I really been disappointed. Usually the employees are dudes in bands who actually kind of give a crap about their craft. They WANT to help you, especially if you're somewhat knowledgable and know what you're looking for. Of course, they get paid when you buy stuff. That can translate into shoving stuff down your throat, sure. My experience is that they really want you to get something that will make you happy. Once, after a purchase, the employee that checked me out sent an email a few days later to check up on me. That's follow through. The selection is good. Some things are only online but they will ship to the store. There is a drum room, live audio room, an acoustic room, and the large room that houses mostly guitars and amps. Prices are reliable... Just pick up a musicians friend magazine and that's pretty much what you'll find at Guitar Center (same company). read more

Just wow. If you want to sell a drum kit go with Craig's list. I have been sitting here for hours while the employee who is supposed to be pricing and helping us keeps interrupting himself to help just about any other customer. I get it buying our crappy used drum kit doesn't make him any money but wasting my time so he can help four other customers probably boosted his commission average pretty well. I'm sure when he completely stopped everything to fall over the guy that just dropped 1100 dollars on a new drum kit made his commission for the day. This place really blows, when you get down to the meat and bones. Sure you can try out everything, but the workers represent every musical cliche to man kind. it's rather funny. My favorite is the"I got one of these." sales clerk. No matter what it is he wanted it for him self, or owns it already. The prices are way too high for some items, however you can haggle for about $15 - $20 off the price. I remember a time at this store when the guitars were always in tune, and you would always get a nice set of strings with your guitar purchase for free. read more

Amazing how when I cam in a few months back to drop $6k on a Custom Shop Les Paul, everyone here was super helpful. Fast forward to today Im looking at a new Strat, which i am not well-versed in at all. . Ive been into Gibsons all my life and was hoping to chart some new territory here, but obviously dont know what the deal is. The guitar they handed me had locking tuners on it. Never seen anything like it on an LP or any of my personal guitars. They were unlocked by the previous user and the strings broke on me trying to tune it, which apparently is common if they arent locked. The employee I gave it to gave me attitude with "these are really pretty good" like I did this on purpose. After waiting at the unattended sales counter for a few minutes, (literally empty store) another employee came up and i asked him what the deal was with said tuners. He got very defensive and sarcastic with me. Said that "the locking tuners are the best, they dont come out of tune." When I challenged that with "well if it doesnt come out of tune, why was it out of tune when you handed it to me?" He proceeded to roll his eyes and spout off some more sarcasm. I just walked out the door with $2600 cash that IS GOING towards a new rig, just wont be here. Im disgusted that I spent my hard earned money on any gear here before today, and I wont be back after. Farmers Branch and N Fort Worth are two MUCH better options to shop with. Or just order online til these kinds of stores die off. Anything would be better. read more

I haven't been to this location in a decade. I was amazed by the fresh new look, however was not impressed by the service. In fact I received none, nada, zilch. With the wife and two kids demoing gear in every department with our two kids, how could they not notice? Ourselves and our kids love music. Owning Drums, Keys, Guitar, Bass, DJ and recording gear, we are a musical family and have a bad habit of impulse buys. We went to check out a new DJ rig we've been thinking about and started there. We spent the last hour of this store being open on a Friday night with the workers looking directly at me many times, as well as my kids. We were making tons of noise! Why must employees always hide behind the counter? A simple welcome and "can I help you find anything" would have gone a long way! After touring the store, our last stop was in the drum department. This is where I got the most eye contact, but not once was some demo sticks offered, even though both youngsters and us adult musicians were attempting to try out kits with our bare hands. The last call closing page was made and instead of offering to help those in the store (potentially there to buy), it was more important to gather the trash and clean up. By this time, I was feeling pretty awkward about it all and left, forgetting to buy at least a few packs of new strings for my guitars that desperately need changing! I gave a three star because the store looked awesome and selection was ok (wish more synths were on display) and the store manager that's still here has always been amazing! My suggestion: if you visit the store, do so during the day before the night shift takes over. A nicely merchandised store is great, but pointless if the people walking through the doors feel invisible. read more

Waste Of Time..... I live 7 minutes away from this location, however I'll spend the 30 minutes to go to the Ft. Worth location. Arlington staff is pathetic. Last week I went into the store about a half hour before close to purchase some sticks and couldn't get any help. Mind you there were more people on staff than actual customers, so one would think getting assisted would be no problem. After 5 minutes in the drum room, I left. From there, I went to the keyboard room to check out some stands. Same story as before, no one in sight. I simply left. I was left a bad taste in my mouth when I went to the store a few months ago to price a part for a DW snare. The guy who was working with me said he would call me once he got a price from DW. Haven't heard anything. You try giving people the benefit of the doubt, but it doesn't pay. With that being said, I'll spend my money elsewhere because GC is not the only pebble on the beach read more

great place to go for convenience needs. quality of instruments can be pretty inconsistent, you can find some guitars that are in perfect condition or some that are slowly falling apart sitting right next to each other. most the employees are friendly, some more than others. workers can be pretty shallow when trying to help meet your needs, there have been many times where i've felt that i could've some costumers more than the workers did with specifics of what the costumer was looking for (and im at least 5 years younger than all of them). again though, it's great for convenience. most of the time they are pretty well kept with stock, great for if you need something then and there and don't have time to wait to order something online (perfect for last minute gig related things). also, there are about only 2 employees who really succeed at there job, i dont know what there names are and i wish i did but excluding them two everyone is super bland. read more

This place is a musician's heaven. I prefer it to other GC locations. The staff is actually really great! I usually see the same faces for the past 10 or so years I've been frequenting this location. The one in Dallas off Interstate 635 comparatively seems to have more unwilling-to-help employees. So come here instead. They'll take GREAT care of you! I remember once one of the guys who work at this location gave me the deal of the century on a wah pedal because I didn't like the original one I bought. So basically I got a sweet new model I wanted at a fraction of the price. Reason being? I guess because the guy working their had seen me there plenty of times so he knew I was a loyal customer who's dropped some bills before. See? THAT is customer! AWESOME! SO GO! read more

Horrible service! I drove 40 miles to get an item I was told was in stock. I asked if they could hold it at the front or let pay by phone. I was told that they didn't have cash registers, but I could just ask for this guy ( I won't put his name), and he would have everything ready. I told him I needed it at 6 pm. He assured me they had plenty. I was there within an hour. The guy was at lunch ( it was 5:30 pm). The behind the cash register (yep...of course they had cash registers) called the guy on the phone. He said that they were unable to locate the item. He handed me another item that was more expensive and said I would have to buy it with additional accessories (so it would work). I declined and left. Unfortunately, I'm told that is pretty typical of Guitar Center stores everywhere. read more

I called one morning asking about the different acoustic guitar strings they have. I've been playing guitar for probably 10 years and all I've ever used is Martin marquis green label phosphorus strings nothing else. Only those there's nothing wrong with them they work great I play all the time I change them out probably 4 to 5 times a year just because I love fresh strings on a guitar. Anyway... getting to the point I called and talked to a rep. His name was Justin, shout out to Justin if you read this. He introduced me to dadario I have no clue if I spelled that right or not. He walked me threw the different kinds they have from coated to non coated the different types of strings said he really liked them said he used them personally. I took him for his word they weren't all that much more money than what I'm used to do that wasn't a problem. My shopping experience was good. Honestly I hated the strings not for any in particular reason I just like the martins better but his personal opinion was taken greatfully read more

This was easily the worst customer service I have ever received. I ordered a vintage Dobro resonator from these guys online. The price was listed at $1,000 which is fair for a guitar like the the one that was advertised in the post. It was the only Dobro I could find in my price range listed as "excellent condition". I payed extra to have it rushed to my house. The manager, Bruce called me the day after to tell me that the guitar had a snapped neck and that they just finished repairing it. He claimed they did a "pretty" good job. Frustrating, but not why I am writing this review. Upon talking to him It was evident that I was frustrated. He assured me to "please call back if I ever needed anything" he claimed that I was a priority and that he was hoping he could help me out in the future. I thought okay, he sounds like a reasonable guy maybe he can help me find another new/used guitar. After 3 days of calling the store and leaving my number along with a slew of excuses from the other employees (he was out to lunch, at a guitar show, etc.) I never got a call back. On top of that, the description online was edited but the original price that I had payed for the guitar never changed. Pay $1000 for a vintage Dobro in EXCELLENT condition? or Pay $1,000 for a guitar that was thrashed and repaired by a store that seems to not pay any attention to customer service? I have been a guitar center customer since day 1. They have become more and more corporate. They are a huge company, situations like this show why they have grown too big for their own good. This guitar center drum department sucks, iv been shopping here for years and now this is the worst drum team I have ever seen, i will no longer do business here. I call over the phone a few time and hoped that I would get help so I left my name and number with the associate to please help me track down conga drum heads and lugs, said they would get back to me ASAP, a week went buy I figured I'd give them the benefit that they were busy or may have just forgot. So I then drove to this location cause this was my home store and again asked the drum associate to please find out info for me and still no luck on my special ordered stuff called two days later to follow up and still nothing. It's sad that I finally called LP found out all the info my self and placed the order online through another store in lewisville close to where I work. Great job to the lewisville guitar center for knowing and doing their job right. Sorry that guitar center in Arlington can't get their stuff together. At first, some of the younger guys in the guitar area did not take care of me. (BTW, all this happened in the last 2 months and I've spent $2k+ in the store so far.) I bought an awesome Schecter and was a little upset since it was scratched so bad. A Manager told me to bring it in and he buffed it right up for me! We also noticed some springs were missing from the back and they gave us those too. I hope I do not forget anyone but Management personnel Kevin, Tex, Joel, and employees Donnie and James are awesome! I have high expectations when it comes to service, and if I'm on here posting a review...then they've done pretty well! The other instance was that their prices were higher than some really good deals I found online. They price matched and gave me the difference back! Then, as I was purchasing another item, they took care of me on that too! You can tell they really value my business and want to do the right thing. I am a "Deal Queen" so I often find better deals that no one else can...and they take care of me every time! Definetly give this place a shot when you need any music gear or the like. Thanks again guys! Here's to hopefully more great service in the future. P.S. Be careful with purchasing their Pro Coverage, which is an extra cost on top of what you already buy. It seems there's some fine print there, because I bought an awesome (no comparison) used mic and I REALLY wanted them to repair and return it to me. They opted to trade me one out instead, and I got a crazy deal on the new mic, but you can tell it's not the one I originally wanted. Also, most manufacturers have a warranty, which means you may be covered anyway before adding Pro Coverage. I think this is really too big of just a "selling" point with their items, and they should take care of customers regardless of if they "bought extra coverage" or not. Just my 5 cents. :) read more

I play percussion with the Fort Worth Symphonic Band. I bought a complete drum set, as well as other misc. items. I've found the employee's to be helpful and ready to answer my questions. They didn't try to "force" me into buying anything I didn't want, and they actually told me what I could do with now, and what could wait for another time since I'm on SSDI. They were knowledgeable from the store manager on down. How they manage to not pull their hair out with every percussionist wannabe in there pounding on the drums all day, is beyond me...I wouldn't have that much patience. They have a good selection and I have found everything I need from this store. I don't know what experiences you have in other stores, but I am really glad to have these guys in my neighborhood. Took my Bass guitar to get fixed at this guitar center. It was fixed quickly and when I went to go pick it up and then went home to inspect it to see if there was anything wrong with it, and there was. When I dropped off my bass, it had no fret buzz and sounded great, but when i played a few notes on the strings not only did I notice fret buzz but one of the strings was touching one of the pick ups! I thought that maybe if i tuned it it would sound better, and when I did, i saw that my bass had no E string, and in its place was another A string. My bass had an A string where the E string should go! But luckily the other strings were the right ones. I had to buy a single E string and readjust the truss bar and bridge to get rid of the fret buzz. If you bring your instrument to get fixed here, beware of the sloppy work that might happen. read more

Their repair guy PJ put together a very old fender I purchased. I started a fret job and he finished it. It was literally brought with the guts hanging out and a bag of replacement screws and parts. He made sure I got the most bang for my buck, but then we had a mishap about the rebate amount I was suppose to get from the manufacturer. I have spent a lot of money in this place and each time the service was unprofessional and the staff was rude, but on each occasion I brushed it off as to me being too sensitive. I talked with a friend who does professional recording and always buys his equipment from two well-known sites (each offering the same and more equipment) as Guitar Center, and decided to buy from these sites. After not visiting for a while, one day I decided to give Guitar Center another chance...wrong move. One staff basically rolled his eyes upward at the question I asked and then when he walked away he shook his head (didn't know I was watching) as if I had asked a dumb question. Staff in another area was sarcastic and chose to joke about me to another staff member. I went into the recording equipment area to the counter and the guy basically ignored me and continued messing with something on the counter as if I were not even standing there for awhile. I was thinking it can't just be me and decided to check reviews. They turned a beautiful day out with the kids to look at instruments into a frustrating day from the rude treatment of their staff. I will not spend another dime in this place and decided to return the equipment I purchased. There is nothing there so special I can't find online for a better price. Please replace your current staff with people who are waiting in line to have a job in this economy and are willing to be pleasant to customers who pay THEIR salary. read more

So today is the day, you know that day, your savings account has finally reached the number you require to buy that instrument you desire. However when walking into the store to I don't know, test some keyboards two people think this is their personal recording studio. Man and woman duet, volume loud as fuck, playing the most annoying sampling I could imagine. Alright, I can dig it. You want everyone to know that you know what a 6th is, you rule, props! However after 20 minutes, this douche brigade didn't get the hint when 6 people walked in and out. I was determined to buy my equipment though, I just wanted a few seconds to play around, hear the sound, and then say take my $4,000 I saved desperately over the past 6 months. Oh no, this didn't happen though because as it turns out a store employee enters the room to ask THE MANAGER, that is right, THE MANAGER to stop playing loud as hell for 5 seconds so you can help your employee locate some equipment he needs to sell a customer. Off goes the manager but her singing buddy stayed behind only to keep playing as loud as possible. Yes, I walked out of the store, yes Sweetwater is now where I shop exclusively. I will walk in and play all your shit Guitar Center, but walk out and never pay you a red cent. Die! read more

I'm giving these guys four stars based on my long term as well as recent experiences there. Had I been writing this review, say two and three years ago, before the store re-set, I'd have given it the same one and two star reviews all of the other people were giving it at that time. 15 years ago, when I came back to Texas, this was an amazing store to shop at. Large selection of good used stuff at great prices, as well as a vast inventory of all the latest. The staff was also very helpful. I bought most of my new gigging kit there. Fast forward 10 tears, and she dropped to about 3 stars, as the staff became less helpful, and the selection started to take a nosedive. 3 years ago was pretty much rock bottom for this place--lousy staff and selection, and as a bassist, not a guitarist, finding a place to try anything out without getting bombarded from overly loud guitarist playing half - assed versions of Stairway to Heaven etc....I was pretty much done with this place. I'd drop in for a cable or a strap on the fly..but that was it. Lately I've bought a few of the "USED" pieces off of their rather huge on line inventory, and had it delivered to this store, as this store is convenient. My interaction with staff on picking up my orders has always been timely and polite. I'd still like to see more space where a bassist could stretch his/her legs and really give something the once over, but maybe that will come back someday.
