I've taken my guitars to Kerry for around seven years now. Never disappointed that he could identify the cause and fix the issue. Does awesome setups as well. Kerry is a straight shooter, no BS. That said, be prepared for the work to take 1 or 2 weeks or possibly more. His workload is backed up because he does quality work that is not rushed. Well worth the wait. read more

A year and a half ago I moved back here from Portland and had to find a new luthier. Kerry wasn't too far and when I walked in I knew I'd found my new guitar guy. The place was filled to the brim guitars waiting to be worked on and Kerry told me it would be two weeks before I could get a simple setup done. He is very much worth the wait. I had a Taylor acoustic that was unplayable. It took a few weeks but it plays like a dream.

Kerry's was recommended to me by my bandmate. I have since become a loyal customer, as has yet another bandmate. I had two guitars where I thought I had totally worn out the frets, to the point that they would both need complete re-frets. A Taylor acoustic and a Fender custom shop Strat. Kerry was able to revive both guitars for a fraction of what total re-frets would have cost. The Strat just needed a level and dress and the Taylor needed only a partial re-fret. I found Kerrys shop about ten years ago. He has done some amazing things as far as guitar work. Besides all the guitars I had when I moved to Texas that I have had Kerry set up or work on he has worked on every kind of guitar I own. I once bought a 12 string telecaster copy at a guitar show. Keep in mind I don't play any guitar I buy till Kerry sees it first Kerry always checks the neck when you first hand it to him I asked Kerry can you do anything with this kit guitar and he says I can this telecaster body copy had a Cozart twelve string neck I was taking a big risk buying this one because I didn't know if it was workable it plays like a dream now. One more story I have several I bought a precision bass from guitar center I took it straight to Kerry he looked at the neck and says this thing is not right can you take it back I said yes I can he said the neck was so out of adjustment it wouldn't ever play right so I trust Kerry so I took the guitar back to guitar center they were amazed I mean they sell it they will take it back so after they refund my credit card they take it to their guy who fixes guitars he looked at me the sales clerk looks at me and all of a sudden that guitar was hid out of sight it was like how would I know that neck was messed up well, I know because Kerry checked it out for me he saved me 400 bucks on that adventure. I have a 75 year old friend that is convinced that guitars come set up from the factory I have watched him take them back like a Gibson s g model because it didn't play right but he thought Gibson set it up. People remember one thing especially when you buy a new guitar it is not set up it has had a set of strings put on that are to the factory's specs they did not set the innotation in other words the notes on the string sounds the same below or above the 12th fret. Spend the money buy the set of strings you like take your guitar to Kerry he will take care of those things string height the action I guarantee it will be right after Kerry makes adjustments even to the new factory guitar have your guitar or bass set up I have several Kerry stories I trust this guy completely he has a reputation through out the d f w area my coffee is now getting cold trust me Kerrys guitar shop will take care of your guitars I did not get paid for this comment but I have several guitars that can back up what I said read more

Purchased a 7 string Jackson and took it to Kerry's after another guy didn't do so well working on it. He leveled the frets and set it up nicely. No buzzing and low action. I plan on taking all my guitars and doing the same because it's forth the $100+tax read more

I went to Kerry's Guitar Shop about a year ago looking for strings, I was treated so rudely that it stings still to this day. I walked into the shop and it appeared empty until a elderly bearded man rushed in as if to protect his inventory from me and harshly told me he couldn't help me and hurried me out the door.. I had taken my Martin guitar to a closer shop to have some warranty work done. After 19 days I picked my guitar and brought it to Kerry's. 3 days later it was done including setting it up. This guitar plays beautifully. I also dropped off the back up guitar and had equal results, Kerry is honest, reasonably priced and knows his stuff. Well worth the drive out to Bedford read more

This is the place to take your guitar for a set up or anything else. Don't waste your time or money at Guitar Center. It will take a week or more for the work but will be done right. read more

Never adequately attempted to help. Guitarists were given priority over Bassists on numerous occasions. Poor customer service. If you are a Pro find another Luthier who wont jerk you around. read more
