Do NOT order a cake from this woman. She baked the wrong cake for my son's birthday and then blamed it on miscommunication. She misread the order and refused to take accountability for her mistake. She also misspelled a word on the cake and my son's name and then stood by the misspelling, telling me they check the order very carefully. Upon viewing the communication she finally admitted it was wrong but did not fix it on all sides.. Do not hire these people. They had audacity to be upset with me for their lack of attention to detail. I was told to take the cake or leave it.... Hours before the party. Careless and unprofessional. Update: Note every single review of this business and "miscommunication" that is the owner's negligence. I reached out for a quote for a 2 tier cake and Sylvia gave me a 8" round at pick up, hours before the party. The cake was poorly crafted and fell apart while serving. Crumbled. The "yelling" was direct communication when the employee insisted on arguing arrogantly that the word "professor" is spelled proffessor (written multiple times incorrectly.) Upon inspection, although the employee fixed most of the Veritas name errors, the one at the front of the cake was STILL wrong. I have the text of the exchange to back up my review. Read her reviews. Sylvia was paid to provide a wedding cake, grooms cake, and specialty cookies for my daughter's wedding. She assured me that each would be like the pictures provided...WRONG! The cake looked nothing like the picture, the groom's cake looked like a child decorated it, and the cookies were unrecognizable. We were unable to even display the groom's cake, and had to just cut it in the kitchen. We did not serve out display the cookies. Even though Sylvia agreed to refund 200.00 out of the 1500.00 paid, I have yet to receive this refund. My daughter was in tears, and not the happy kind! I DO NOT RECOMMEND this at home company! read more

Sylvia made the most delicious cupcakes and cake that I've ever had! I was super nervous messaging her because we were only 11 days out from our wedding date (after the wedding had to be moved up due to unforeseen circumstances) but she was able to get it done! She is incredibly well priced and I'm telling you right now - if you get any kind of cupcakes from her, you will not be able to only eat one! I probably had 3 myself in under 20 minutes! Due to a mix up with my sisters I ended up having to try and find a bakery to make a custom cake for my nephew's birthday 6 days prior to the party. I was looking for a fondant cake for 15 people. I reached out to about 10 bakeries, the majority telling me they couldn't help me which I completely understood. Sylvia returned my message on Wednesday agreeing to make a cake in the shape of a shoebox with a sneaker cutout made of fondant on the top, ready for pick up by Saturday at 1pm. She told me the price would be $155, which I thought was hefty but I really wanted to make my nephew happy so agreed to it. On Saturday the day of pick up at 11am, I text her to see what time they closed bc I thought maybe it would be easier to pick up the cake on my way to San Antonio. Turns out they were closing early at noon. I'm not sure when she intended to let me know since we agreed the cake would be ready for me at 1pm. I brushed it off and rushed over to pick up the cake. At pick up, the cake looked nothing like the photos I had shown her. The fondant work was sloppy and amateur, look at the corners in the photo below. I was completely disappointed but decided to let it pass thinking it was my fault for giving such short notice. After paying for the cake I was told they had no box to fit the cake! I was told to transport the cake home on the cardboard it came on with nothing else. This was the last straw for me! Please don't agree to make a cake if you're going to make half an effort towards making it and charge customers an astronomical price! Also if you know the customer is coming to pick up the cake it should be ready for transport and not given to the customer on a piece of cardboard. I'm all about supporting local businesses. My son's birthday cake in April was made from a local mom baker who did an amazing job. I will never be back to this place and those considering it, take my experience as a warning. Ps. The cake was very dry and sweet, hardly anyone ate it at the party. read more

Do NOT use this person for any occasion you care about!!! Especially NOT a wedding! Before you read this story you need to know she DID NOT give a full refund on this disaster!!! Where do I begin... upon arrival, the delivery person was carrying in the three tiered stacked wedding cake on a 1/8th width thin cardboard. Her fingers were stuck in the icing, the cardboard was bending! When she set the cake down one side fell off! (See attached pictures). She took pictures, sent them presumably back to the bakery (which they denied seeing), and proceeded to talk on the phone for the next twenty minutes. When I realized she didn't have any items with her (icing, knife, etc) I asked her what was the plan. She had NO ANSWER for me even though she was still on the phone with the bakery! (By this time the wedding was to begin in less than an hour!) I directly told her to return to her bakery and bring a bowl of icing, a knife and a dozen white roses. She happily left and retuned 40 minutes later with a canister of pre-made icing, a spatula and dying roses. She watched me glue the side back on with the ridiculous icing and cover up the entire base (by this time the other side fell off and every layer cracked) with flowers (See pictures). I was able to somewhat 'save' the cake. In the end, my son and new wife did NOT cut the cake, the caterer attempted to cut it but it fell apart, there are now no traditional pictures of the couple with the cake. Fortunately the caterer was able to send a server to Walmart to get sheet cakes!!!! Yes, we had to serve Walmart cake!!!! (Edit - I cant seem to add photos to my review. Update: Going on 6 weeks of broken promises on the refund, and now Sylvia is unresponsive to my inquiries. read more

Saw Sylvias cakes on Facebook and after thinking I wouldn't be able to afford to get my dream wedding cake and other goodies she proved us wrong. Not only are her cakes delicious and beautiful but she really tries to work with every budget. I'm getting everything I want and even added some macaroons to the order lol. I hired Sylvia to make my wedding cake, groom's cake and cake for my wedding reception. Throughout the entire process, Sylvia was incredibly easy to work with, flexible, responsive and professional. The wedding cake and groom's cake were beautiful and exactly like what she described. The cupcakes were delicious. I can't speak to the sugarless offerings Sylvia had, as we opted for traditional cakes, but those ones at least were everything we imagined they would be. The only hiccup we had we had in the whole process was at the very beginning, her website wasn't working well. After one call, she got that fixed. I highly recommend her. The grooms cake looked great. Sylvia arrived to our first meeting with no samples eventhough we discussed which ones we wanted. She said her assistant was in a wreck. She did give us samples that didn't taste good. We got a second set and they were delicious. We didn't keep any of our extra cake because it didn't taste anything like the samples we liked. Ordered valentine gifts to be delivered to the schools. I was excited thinking yes so easy and convenient. Only to get a message from the owner stating that none of the gifts got delivered do to delivery driver having a wreck. what is sad is she had all day to contact me to say there had been a accident but fb messges me at 5 pm. talk about shady service buyer beware if you need someone reliable this company is not who you want to use. she also stated she could not get a hold of the driver for a few hours if you have a business it should not take this long to get a hold of associates that work for you . read more

I hired Sylvia to do my wedding cake after almost a year of planning day came. Not only was she late to deliver cake and set up, cake had wrong colors and not of the accent that i had picked out were on it. It was a plain cake with yellow and red roses when my colors were royal blue and pearl. The grooms cake was far from the pictures she had shown me of her previous work, very disappointing. When i sent her a message regarding the issues she stated how sorry she was and that she would refund a portion back due to the issues. Also she states she forgot to make the whipped flowers for my cake so she had to run to the grocery store and just grab some. Everything was written in a contract and had over a year to prepare for it. After a few weeks of not hearing back from her i sent her several messages inquiring about the refund . After hearing every excuse in the book she sent me not even half of the refund 3 months after me wedding. Now she had completely blocked my messages and will not return a answer. Very unprofessional, not trustworthy would not recommend. I under stand things are not perfect but be a adult about it and accept responsibility. read more
