In Buda up from San Antonio to pick up an online order early in the morning, I come across the Teal…read moreHouse and stop for a quick bite to eat based on their high Yelp rating. As you walk in, you'll notice the building space has a store front where the sell other retail items besides food. You have to walk to the back to place your order at the counter, just follow your nose as you can smell the baked goodness in the air. You can see the bakers hard at work making everything fresh from scratch. I look at the display case of goodies and know I'll be leaving with more than I came on for. I look over the menu and order the croissant breakfast sandwich with sausage and 3 Danishes (cheese, blueberry, and strawberry). When they call my name, I pick up the order and find a seat in the neighboring spot which sell coffee, tea, and other drinks (see separate review for Meridian). The croissant breakfast sandwich comes with a scrambled egg, sliced link sausage and a green salsa that has a nice heat to it. The croissant itself it nicely toasted and just crumbles in your mouth as you take your first bite. The sandwich is hearty and will fill you up. When I get back home, I try the blueberry Danish and it's as good as it looks. Flaky crust with a great blueberry center filling. If you're ever in Buda, you should come and try the Teal House.

Their craft coffees are also on point. Would definitely come back to try everything on their menu. We even bought a small plant pot from their gift shop. Highly recommend!

Do NOT order a cake from this woman. She baked the wrong cake for my son's birthday and then blamed…read moreit on miscommunication. She misread the order and refused to take accountability for her mistake. She also misspelled a word on the cake and my son's name and then stood by the misspelling, telling me they check the order very carefully. Upon viewing the communication she finally admitted it was wrong but did not fix it on all sides.. Do not hire these people. They had audacity to be upset with me for their lack of attention to detail. I was told to take the cake or leave it.... Hours before the party. Careless and unprofessional. Update: Note every single review of this business and "miscommunication" that is the owner's negligence. I reached out for a quote for a 2 tier cake and Sylvia gave me a 8" round at pick up, hours before the party. The cake was poorly crafted and fell apart while serving. Crumbled. The "yelling" was direct communication when the employee insisted on arguing arrogantly that the word "professor" is spelled proffessor (written multiple times incorrectly.) Upon inspection, although the employee fixed most of the Veritas name errors, the one at the front of the cake was STILL wrong. I have the text of the exchange to back up my review. Read her reviews. Poorly run business by an amateur baker.

Courteous and efficient in packaging the donuts and warming the kolaches. The donuts were great. Perfect icing and glaze application. Careful packaging meant they arrived home in great condition. The owners are a husband and wife duo, where the wife works the counter and the husband primarily works in the back. Grand Donut truly cares about quality, and it's clear in everything they serve--whether it's their classic donuts, creative seasonal offerings, kolaches, breakfast tacos, or breakfast sandwiches. This is not your average donut shop, it's exceptional. The breading on their kolaches is perfect. While I'm a regular fan of the sausage and cheese kolaches, I like to treat myself to a Boudin Kolache every now and then. If you've never heard of or tried a Boudin Kolache, then you're probably not from Houston or Louisiana. So, what is Boudin? It's a spicy Cajun sausage made with rice and meat--and trust me, it tastes way better than it sounds! If you aren't so daring, it's okay. You can start with one of their fruit or sausage kolaches, grab a donut or a taco, whatever it is, you can't go wrong!
