And lost one of my two keys. Turns out that the manufacturer has moved on to other key designs, and finding a locksmith that carried the brand and had the older blanks available was not so easy. I left messages with a few places that were listed as authorized dealers on the manufacturer's website, including Rich's Keys & Locks. I got a pretty quick call back from Wes, a man who seems to both know and care about helping people out who get themselves into a variety of jams. Wes was not only helpful and considerate, but after determining that he didn't have the older blanks in stock either, ordered inventory from the manufacturer. I ended up with three new copies, but he ordered 10 blanks, which when I stopped to think about it is probably the minimum reorder quantity. But I had to guess about that, because he didn't offer an explanation as to why he had ordered the suspiciously round number of 10, nor did he ask for more than the usual per copy price to cover his extra cost for items he is not likely to run into demand for anytime soon, if ever. So I'm not sure he broke even on the transaction. The point being, he's a mensch, who approaches his work prioritizing solving people's problems with unspoken honor, over maximizing his own advantage in pursuit of profit above all else. Wherever I encounter that, I'm a customer for life because you can't buy integrity. It has to already be there.
