GARLIC FRIES & MEAT YOUR CHEESE BOARD Great service and variety of board games. I would definitely go back and try the food.

This place is awesome!! Went here for a night out and had the best time! It was super busy for a Saturday so keep that in mind (there was about an hour wait time when we left about 10pm). The drinks were all delicious - we had 7 different drinks and we would get all of them again! My favorites were the chareau-dinger's cat, Junimo's gift, and the tiramisu is a lie! Chareau-dinger's cat is a great summer drink with strawberry and cucumber flavors - it's on the sweeter side but not too sweet. Junimo's gift was the drink I would have had 10 of! The apricot and lemon flavors were so delicious and the foam on top really set the drink off. The tiramisu is a lie - I will always try whatever variation of an espresso martini is available and this has to be one of my top 10 I've ever had! Chocolatey, coffee, touch of orange flavor - perfection! Let's talk about the food! I want to say how much I appreciate all the different Gluten Free options they have. One of our group is celiac and having so many options was so nice. The steak sashimi was by far my favorite! The sear was perfect and the fresh flavors of the pickled onion, basil garlic relish and cilantro were a delicious tasty combo! You can't come here without getting the garlic fries! Sooooooooo good. The sweet potato tots were good (I'd prefer a little crispier) with a dipping sauce that was spicy - unexpected but so delicious! Best part - they have board games you can play! They have tons to choose from - whether you have two players or ten you can find something fun to play! It was a little loud with all the game play but that was part of the fun for us - just something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet date bought. We will definitely be back!

    Cardomom Crème Brûlée

I've been meaning to post a review of this spot for a while, but haven't gotten to it until now. My husband and I have been here many times over the past few years, including with friends and family. We stopped by last night with a few of our friends and had a great experience as usual. Their themes change every month, and last night's theme was Nightmare Before Christmas (one of my personal favorites)! They also have a regular menu you can order from if you're not interested in the themed items. For our drinks we started off by ordering from the themed menu; a friend and I each had the What's This? What's This?, my husband tried the Butter Him Up!, and our other friend ordered the Zero Mocktail. We also had a few randomized dice shots (not pictured), and the last drink I ordered was the themed drink Wake Up Jack! We all enjoyed the themed drinks and thought they were delicious. Each drink had its own unique flavor profile that definitely embodied Christmas vibes. My friend especially enjoyed the Zero Mocktail and ended up ordering another one. For food; My husband and I ordered both the items they had on their themed menu. The first item was the Creamy Polenta Beef & Gourd Stew, which is a beef stew with butternut squash, zucchini, and onions served over creamy polenta. Our second item was dessert, the Cardomom Crème Brûlée, which was served with an orange zest shortbread cookie. Both items were very unique, delicious, and flavorful. We especially enjoyed the Creamy Polenta Beef & Gourd Stew. It tasted hearty, comforting, and wholesome. Our friends ordered some of their usuals, which were the Sweet Potato Tots (for the table) and a Veggie Wrap (with grilled chicken added) , which they enjoyed. The atmosphere of the bar gave off the usual fun and energetic vibes, which adds to the positive experience and puts you in a good mood. They have music playing at a comfortable listening level in the background (and it's different genres depending on the day you visit), along with TVs showing different games and movies streaming on each one. The interior is clean, cozy, and has a nice assortment of gaming character artwork and decor. They also have a section with a library of different board games to choose from if you want to play something while hanging out. You're also welcome to bring your own games if you wish. The staff here are always friendly, attentive, and have a good attitude. We've visited often over the years, so we're familiar with most of the staff when we come in. Shaun was one of our servers last night, and he brought good vibes to the table. Our other server Melody was also great! She was very polite and helpful with menu recommendations. Both servers had our orders brought out quickly. We always have a great time here. Guild Hall is our go to bar and we love it. Everything about it is pretty much perfect for us! Definitely looking forward to our next visit!

Busy but not insanely crowded Sunday night. We didn't wait long for our food. Our waiter was funny and actually recommended me a different drink from just the usually Moscow mule but one that had strawberry puree. It was amazing!! I will say the ice they put in is a bit excessive so maybe lighter ice. We played connect 4 and had a blast. The seats are super comfy and it's a welcoming vibe. We will def be back.

This was absolutely a phenomenal place! If you're a lover of all things nerdy and a fan of amazing food - this is your place! The service was great, the place was a lot bigger than I had expected, and the food was so delicious. I went with a group of people so we were able to try a bunch of different things. I feel like they have a pretty vast menu so there's tons of different options and fun drink items, definitely something for everyone. I think they also have specialized menus depending on what sort of games are out, they did went we went. It was a Borderlands menu with fun items. There's also a ton of games in the front if you want to browse and if you find one you like you can just take it to your table to play. All in all, all the food was amazing. The truffle fries, the smoked brisket mac and cheese, the tacos, the bread, the drinks, it was all 1000/10! I highly recommend this place and I seriously can't wait to come back.

You push open the heavy wooden doors of Guildhall Tavern. A wave of cozy dim light washes over you, rich with the smell of meals worthy of a bard's ballad. The room is alive with chatter: to your left, a rogue challenges a wizard to a duel of Pokémon; to your right, two barbarians lock horns over a particularly cutthroat round of Catan. To your right, you spot two towering bookshelves, sagging under the weight of hundreds of board games. Roll a d20. On anything above a 5, you find a game worth playing with your party. On a natural 20? Congratulations, you just discovered the holy grail of obscure co-op strategy titles that no one else has heard of but everyone agrees is brilliant. The tavern's staff approaches--charismatic, friendly, and clearly proficient in both "food service" and "game recommendation." They guide you not only to a table, but to glory: suggesting specials that are always crit-worthy, and cocktails that could easily pass for enchanted potions. (Beware the strength of the ales, lest you fail your Constitution check.) The food? Better than any tavern rations you've ever encountered. In fact, calling it "bar food" would be like calling a +3 longsword "just a stick." Quest Log Update: You have discovered the perfect rest point in Whittier. Hit points restored. Morale maxed out. Party cohesion: critical success. Will you return? Let's just say the dice are heavily weighted toward "yes."

This bar nails the vibe with an awesome selection of craft cocktails, local brews, and a huge library of board games. Whether you're rolling dice or sipping something strong, it's the perfect hangout for laid-back fun with friends. Not to mention, this bar is away from the other bars so it makes it unique. It also stays open later than most. It also has great appetizers.

It was nice to check out the Whittier location as it felt instantly familiar to the Burbank location. It has a big, welcoming space with booths and tables to hang out and shelves filled with board games. The menu isn't a carbon copy of Burbank's and there are slightly different options which keeps things interesting. Also the Whittier location is located in the downtown area with unique shops and diverse dining spots. Parking was easy to find in a nearby garage and street parking was available as well.

I really enjoyed spending a few hours at Guildhall! I met some friends for drinks and everything we had was so delicious and unique. (I had been here once before when they had a Splatoon themed menu). Our waitress was super nice and had good recommendations when we were stuck between one thing or another. She even replaced a friend's drink when she realized they weren't drinking it because it was too strong for them. The only food I sampled was their cheesecake but it was surprisingly really delicious! I thought from the description that it would be a basic cheesecake but the chocolate almond crust really added something special.

Wedge salad. Good. Not spectacular but fresh ingredients!

The server was nice ( female ) with baseball cap. It was our first time. It was different as we had reservations elsewhere in the area and it backfired so we just adjusted and found this. Started with wedge salad it was good and chicken popcorn orange flavor 4 out of 10 Won't try it again. Chicken sandwich and garlic fries good. We spent 75 on one drink , salad and sandwich fries snack chicken. Likely won't return. There are regulars. It's a game spot for couples or groups... it was cool just not my crowd!

I love this place. The ambiance is always so chill, the employees are all really nice and welcoming, good amount of seating. I like how they have special menus that get switched up often, with the option to try something new to eat or drink. My favorite drink is the penicillin, their chicken stripe are great and so is the beef sashimi. Didn't care for the whole Lotta chata beer it had a perfume flavor. But they have plenty other drink options worth trying.

All in all not a bad spot at all to hang out. The grilled chicken sandwich ON POINT! The entire staff was very attentive even though the place never stopped getting people coming in and out. The place has board games a plenty for you and your group to play while you chill and eat. They have a lot of tvs playing different things like streamers or anime. Kinda loud but hey im old so I guess im the minority. Gove it a go if your in the Whittier area

I think that's a Pat of butter in Yoda and Darth Vader.

    Ask the Community - Guildhall

Do you accept donations of used board games in good condition? If so, what is the process for donating them?

We do! The best way would be to bring them in to the bartender or manager on duty. We'll double check the components and style of the game and put it on the shelf if everything looks good.

What time does the kitchen close?

If you go to our website www.guildhall.tv and select the location you're curious about it will let you know when our kitchen closes. It does vary by location and day of the week.

Could anyone possibly tell me how large the tables are? Some board games have very large boards and I'd like to know how big is too big before I show up with a mega game.

We have large tables specifically to fit larger board games. We also can push tables together to fit things such as Warhammer etc. I would suggest coming in earlier, when we open to secure a table if a lot of space is needed.

Do they take reservations or is seating by a first come first serve basis?

Reservations are for 15 or more only. Otherwise its first come first serve. There are a bunch of tables for big tops and for 2 tops too though :)

Does this restaurant allow dogs in their outdoor dining area?

    Absolutely!

    Is it Kid friendly?

Yes it is. I see a lot of parents bring their kids to play board games. Weekends do get really busy with the older crowd, so it's best to bring the family during the week.

Do you pay a fee to use the board games?

Nope all of our games are free to play! We just ask that you purchase food or drink while you game.

Can you bring your own board games?

Absolutely! Just show them to the bartender as you come in and enjoy!

This location looks to me as the same location of a previous restaurant named Vintage Cafe? Is this restaurant same owners as Vintage Cafe or new different ownership?

It is unrelated to any restaurants that were at this location prior. So different storefront as well as ownership.

    Where do I park?

Street or parking structure down the way.

Keep in mind I ordered around 12:50pm and the sandwich was ready at 1:45pm. I ordered the Spicy Gabagool Sandwich, and there were barely any mixed greens as compared to other reviews & the menu photo (I love my veggies)! The meats were yummy, but they did not stand out to me/didn't taste anything special. Unfortunately, the same goes for the bread. However, I did like the packaging of the sandwich and everything in the sandwich tasted well together; the chile spread, burrata, hot honey, pickled onions, meats.. the spice level is definitely tolerable; I didn't need water at all. It was more of a small kick. I also tried their lemon crumb bar and it was very delicious! If anything I would come again to try more of their unique baked goods. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance of the shop. It is quite small and there are many people waiting for their order inside. There is only outdoor seating, which is scarce.

I was not confused to a stupor that left me angry and frustrated, I was left more dazed with swirling lilies around my mind, like I had been hit hard with the staff of a fairy who pays the bills of the forest as an interior designer. The place has a design concept that takes two opposing forces and blends them into a restaurant concept: health forward food for O.G.'s and their like and crew, all while being a love letter to the streets of Los Angeles, the gritty streets, not the ones next to Rodeo. For instance, Cruz, one of the staff members, was wearing a "Straight out of Whittier" shirt that was clear nod to the movie straight out of Compton that was all about the rap and its consequence on West LA homeboy culture. The central mural of the joint showed low-riders, the LA symbol made with finger angles, and graffiti galore. Again, the message was clear this is a health cafe for Tupac and his friends and followers. These two principal ingredients mixing together (health food and LA street culture) at least in my mind, are more the subject for improv comedy than a sensible restaurant concept. I know people can mix what ever they want together, I know that there is choice when people color and dress, but this motif seemed like it was mixing Ninja culture with a dog grooming service. The concept can work, I see a ninja de-worming a golden retriever with swift skill but this concept also seems forced rather than flowing with common sense. So for a health cafe in LA I see Cher from Clueless, or Barbie, being more easily applied to the concept. But what do I know perhaps in a few months will have a Hell's Angel's tea experience that will not be dainty but rather hard like a helmet and it might be the concept that begins a revolution that ends with Hair Salons with Viking culture at its decoration theme. The (health) food in itself was a blessing. My friend Bailey is the healthy eater of the two of us! She got a simple green salad with tofu. I sampled a forkful. My hand had to dig in hard, with its fork, to retrieve the lettuce, the carrot, and some of the pickle, I avoided the tofu. The greens were fresh, and tasted clean in their simple flavors, but what elevated the green forkful to excellence in taste was the sweet mustard dressing. The green had dressing that turned solid greens to yummy ones! I ordered the shrimp tostada. Cruz, came to the table and explained that my plate was Keto friendly, which meant that it was good food for those who were experiencing life as a pre-diabetic, for example. What I loved about this place and its food, was that I did not feel like I was eating healthy and had to sacrifice pleasure in the name of honoring my health goals. Quite the contrary, the food was just plain good food, and for me, eating good clean food, is a fantastic way to keep my health goals on track. Apparently the tortilla was made out of cactus, and that is a why where the healthy stays in tact, while still being food that is satisfying, and, yummy! I would go here again, especially when my health goals are in full swing. This place will facilitate the process because the food was truly good!
