The food here is so legit and delicious ! The drinks are what makes this review a one Star. I love Pisco Sour's and it's my go to drink. I only drink Peruvian Pisco though When I asked the bartender what kind of Pisco El Gobernador was, he assured me it was Peruvian. He was incorrect and it was Chilean. I don't appreciate that he didn't check and know his spirits. He also forget the Peychaud's Bitters which comes with the drink. A brutal mistake when it comes to this drink. The ambiance is all there TVs playing livestreams of video-games which is what they advertise but, should have a few playing something else. The mac and cheese was solid as others have said, very heavy and filling, lots of quantity, if 3-4 people got entrees, they can all split the mac and cheese. Relaxed vibe since it wasn't super full but even though maybe 40-50% filled up, it was a great place to check out. Tons of board games and there's about 3-4 streams, showing on TV's, most of the duplicated on another monitor. To be honest they didn't seem that interesting to watch but I'm not that into the streaming community. The tall ceiling and tables give it a very relaxed feel. Wowowow, the service here has really impressed me Today. Walked in, immediately greeted by the host and offered a seat at the bar. Sergio, clearly an observant bartender, immediately offered me a choice drink from the house, a Ferrari (fernet Campari). The drink was a bit bitter, and a slight bit wild but tasted spectacular. As I was seated at the bar sipping my way through the Ferrari; Cassadie offered me a special on the menu the "waiting on Tommy Jarvis" in JELLO SHOT FORM!!!! all I can say is I was absolutely enthralled. Tour de tacos is my wife and I's favorite go-to and the mineflare cocktail is easy to put down with a nice buzz to follow ;) overall, the bunch of board games they have will keep any conversation going and the food and drinks enhance the hang. Love this place! Staff is friendly but sometimes we do get left hanging for a minute, it's expected though during the rush hours. The food was just okay though. Ordered the charcuterie board, Brussels sprouts, & a cheeseburger with sweet potato my tots. The charcuterie board was the biggest disappointment. It came only with 4 slices of toast. The meats were all very bland & the cheese underwhelming. I don't even know what kinds of cheese I got. The beef fat candle was completely impractical. There's no seasoning/salt in the fat, tried to dip the toast in the melted fat then tried to smear some on and it was just grease. The dipping sauce for the tots also needs some work. I think it's suppose to be a chipotle flavor but again really lacked any "kick", needed more salt & seasoning. Overall though I would go back. read more

While shopping at a shop down the street, we checked out the menu and thought we'd give it a try. I am all about trying out new or different places. We weren't super hungry, so we opt to do sharing. Drinks first... I got the Lifelink. OMG! after the first sip I wanted a gallon of this fantastic libation. Next, we got tomato soup and split the Macaroni and Cheese with brisket. I almost fainted because it was a magnificent bit of deliciousness. My almost 5-year-old grandson got the cheeseburger (cheese cooked inside the patty). Great spot near the corner of Bright and Philadelphia in Uptown. I had seen it here for a while but never tried it. They have a really nice looking outdoor patio area and also provide indoor seating. If you come with friends, they have games you can play at your table. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. They are great if you need suggestions, I asked for a mock tail and was surprised to find that I now like coconut! As for the food, I had a salad and that was tasty and fresh. I went here two times in one week. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the selection of board games and card games they had. The food and drinks are delicious! The servers are wonderful too, don't forget a good tip. Very fun place to go to with friends or on a date, whatever you prefer. What a cool concept - a nerd bar. At least that's how the bartender described it. You can play board games while enjoying food and drinks. From the outside you may not even realize this is a bar/lounge. When I initially walked by this place I just saw bunch of board games by the window and thought it was a place that sells puzzles and games. Upon walking in I noticed several TVs by the bar and thought it was a sports bar, but they were showing live streaming of professional gamers playing various games. Despite the somewhat confusing initial visit, I really enjoyed my time here. Drinks were excellent, food was tasty, and service was great. This place has a good selection of cocktails, both modern and classic. The Semmler was my favorite drink. It was refreshing with a nice contrast of sweet and spicy. It's a bourbon based drink with maraschino liqueur, Clement Creole Shrubb, lemon, and habanero bitters. Chareau-dinger's Cat was good too, although a bit sweet. It's more of a dessert drink made with house-infused strawberry gin, basil syrup, lime, and Chareau aloe-cucumber liqueur. Waiting for Tommy Jarvis was refreshing and light. It's made with La Gritona Reposado Tequila, lime, elderflower liqueur, Angostura bitters, and ginger beer. Food was slightly mixed. Sweet Potato Tater Tots and Grilled Shrimp Salad were excellent but Guildhall Juicy Lucy burger was overcooked. It had great flavor but the meat was tough. Quite ironic given the name is Juicy Lucy. The house-made potato chips that came with the burger tasted fresh and were seasoned perfectly. Despite the overcooked burger, everything else was great, so I'm giving it five stars. It's still new at this location so I'm giving it some slack. Bartender was personable and seemed very knowledgeable with drinks. They were playing mostly 90s music during my visit, and volume was just right. Please note, there is no table service here. You order everything at the bar and they will bring everything out to your table. Water is self-serve, even if you sit at the bar. This is kind of weird because most bars have a water dispenser at the bar. Here you have to go to one of two water stations to get it. It wasn't too busy so the bartender just brought water to us. It's located in Uptown Whittier but not in the main area. It's kind of nice because it's slightly east of Greenleaf Avenue so the street isn't as crowded. I read more

My brother in law suggested this for my bday since there were supposed to be gaming tables and drinks. But mostly just food and drinks and no gaming tables. Called to book a reservation for party of ten for my bday. The person on the phone said it would be fine and book it in back room booth because it wouldnt be busy. When i got there none of the servers knew what i was talking about as far as reservation went. They didnt reserve the booth and merged 3 bar tables, with the third table being very unbalanced and rickety which they said they would fix, which they didn't it until 30 minutes after we sat down. Instead of serving us water they just told us to go serve ourselves at the water station. They had one poor server doing most of the nights work while other employees were lounging around on there dinner breaks and others kind of in and out of working and lounging around. It was hard to order because it seemed like our server was doing a juggling act waiting tables by herself and was in a hurry to help other tables and would leave sometimes before i could order anything. I will not be coming back and recommend that management organize their staff better and communicate properly. Felt like my friends and family got terrible service on my bday party. read more

Be warned. No matter what you order, your drinks will take 15+ minutes to arrive and you definitely aren't allowed to order at the bar. The bartenders are young and inexperienced. It's disheartening because they have an ambitious menu and specials program. Everyone in our group ordered a special "Avatar" themed cocktail and every one of us did not enjoy it in the slightest. When the server asked us how things were, we said "not very good, none of these are very enjoyable.." She proceeded to chuckle and say "yeah, people aren't really into them." It was off putting because it felt as if we were just played and fell for some shady hospitality practices. Beer was fine as always. Cocktails however, were overwhelmingly sweet, unbalanced, and sloppily prepared. If you want to be creative, make sure you have a staff that is prepared to execute the recipes quickly and efficiently because service takes a huge it when you pay LA cocktail prices for a 7-step Special that tastes like a watered down whiskey and coke. I guess what really is the most upsetting is that we expressed our dissatisfaction and were not offered to exchange or even give back our cocktails. We were stuck with them. Nice spot for a date night, especially before rush hour (8pm+). The service quality is top notch, but the food is "okay". Maybe cause I'm a cheap a** since they're expensive for the portions size - but that's probably normal for a gastropub. Their cocktails don't stand out, but I'll give it a passing grade since it's not a dedicated cocktail bar.
