There was an NFL game that starts at 5:15pm between the Niners and Bears. In the mean time, we ordered through the happy hour menu. Ordered Carne Asada Nachos, beer and cocktails. Received our drinks first, all tasted fresh. Received our Nachos which was exceptionally delicious. One of the best I had tasted This place turns into a dance floor after 8pmsh. Pretty cool place, they played 80s and 90s hip hop and freestyle music! It was a good vibe and feel. The restaurant is clean and their rules for entry is firm. No gang bang attire or thughish attitude. I find this very important to have a good time. Great place to chill and vibe. This is a Latin type of party vibe that brings you back to the 80s and 90s. All while he watches security cameras, talks to staff/bartenders, checks in with waiters & security, final food & drink quality control, and reads reviews to call you a liar for any negative feedback. The music here was honestly great they played a lot of oldies (old funk, rock, spanish rock etc.. , which we really enjoyed and it set a fun vibe for the night. That was definitely the highlight. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. They made us open several tabs (as we were at the same table for a couple hrs) just to push separate tips on each tab. It felt really unnecessary and honestly kind of scammy. There was no clear reason for it when we would ask, and it left a bad impression. This place will over charge you for drinks and won't give you any alcohol in your alcoholic drink. They will charge you three dollars for water after 1030pm. When prior to that it's free. Based on my knowledge every place restaurant/establishment that sells drinks and or food they have to provide water for free. I will look into this more a call a professional on this business. Music was great , the band playing 9/21 was awesome. Unfortunately management there needs to be retrained on customer service. I saw this guy George get in to 3 arguments with different people there. He went as far as to physically threatened a lady saying he knew people he can call to take care of her. At the end not even security wanted to help this guy, his own staff had to come out and try to deescalate the situations he kept getting himself into. He went next-door to dance over there, the 80s more started playing the 80s music so we went back and they would not allow us back in even though it was 40min till closing. 20min to get a drink. Get four stars because I know this place can be great, unfortunately, this is the second time they don't play the 80s music on a weekend until right before closing Needed to add this part, the music they played was a lot of Spanish music, they didn't play any 90s either, one of the managers messaged me so I just wanna go ahead and respond to that saying that there was no 90s music either until after we had already left. But no worries hopefully next time there will be some 80s and 90s and less of todays rachet music because that is the point of this place or at least I thought it was. Also, I never said that I tried to go back at 12:45, the place closes at 1 PM. That's not the time I tried to go back I tried to go back at midnight. Shortly after midnight. We came here on a Saturday night to celebrate our classmate's birthdays. The ambiance was definitely lively and bustling with a DJ that played great music all night long. Our server Kevin was excellent, very attentive, polite, and friendly. He did a great job serving our large party that was over 10 people. The only complaint I would have is about the front door security woman, she wanted me to open a small gift bag that was tied with a bow to see what was inside. I explained that it was just lotions no alcohol and told her to feel the bag. I walked away from her since she was giving me a hard time because she wanted to dismantle the gift bag. The male security saw this, let me in and escorted me to our party. Now for the food, it was surprisingly good, I had the lollipop wings that came with carrots and celery and ordered them buffalo style. They were pretty good and very tasty. We also ordered chips and guacamole, very fresh and flavorful. Overall we had a great time, they even had a Michael Jackson impersonator which just added to the enjoyment of the evening. Came last weekend to party it up with my cousin for her birthday. We got there pretty early on a Saturday evening and was seated right away. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and drinks for our table of 10. I was famished (and buzzed) by the time the food came so I ate as soon as the food came out. I tried the buffalo chicken drumsticks and some carne asada fries. Both items were pretty tasty! We had asked for ranch and they gave us a bunch. Ranch was good too. I was too drunk to know if it was house made or store bought. The waitress came by often to check on us. They were pretty attentive. I did have to use the bathroom twice that night. The second time I used the bathroom, the place was already poppin' so I had to wait at least 15 minutes in line. The vibe that night was pretty fun. Tried coming here last night with my friends after visiting the brewery across the street and was turned away by security because I was wearing sweats and one of my friends was wearing shorts. I did check the website this morning, and it did have a dress code posted. It's January, and uptown Whittier is not an upscale neighborhood (I grew up in Whittier and don't mean that as an insult, just saying it's not Beverly Hills). It's sort of a weird clientele because you have cholos, adults that look like they're teenagers with those weird haircuts, the table with the tias that still think they're in their twenties, your metalhead and alt crew, and the average looking people not trying to play into anything. But it was PACKED. The restrooms were gross that first evening and when I went a few nights ago, still in bad shape. It wasn't busy at all when I went for karaoke but it just felt a little...I don't know, like an after hours train station. I tried Flashbackz Lounge for the first time on Friday, January 12th. My friends and I had a good time. We arrived around 10pm. We had to wait in line to get in for about 10 minutes. Not too bad. The music was a fun variety. We heard 80s freestyle, funk, and R&B which are my favorite genres. All the stuff I grew up with. They threw in some '90s hip hop like Montel Jordan's "This is How We Do It" and 2000s hip hop like Lil Jon and Nelly. The playlist was awesome. The reason for 4 stars is the dance floor is a bit small. We had to really squeeze in. I get it. It's a popular place, but expanding the dance floor just a little would be nice. The bar gets a bit too busy too. It may take a while to get a drink at peak busy times (10:30-11:30). Remember where you are. You're in Whittier. We witnessed some Cholos fighting, but security quickly escorted them out. I overall felt safe, though. The crowd was chill. The dudes came on a little strong and kept hitting on us. Not a big deal, but it's nicer when they read the room a bit better. The crowd here is between mid 20s to mid 50s. It was the younger guys who kept trying to dance with us and hit on us. If you don't mind that, then you're in for a good time. I haven't tried the food here yet, but think I will next time. My friends and I plan on coming back. It was a lot of fun-great music and vibes. We asked what the wait time would be and were told until 10:30 pm...WHAT??!! We eventually left because that's ridiculous. We did get to go inside to use the restroom. This place is small and cramped with a bunch of tables in the middle of what could be a bigger dance floor. They don't allow reservations for any size party and I honestly don't understand. Take a deposit, put a time limit...make it work because it's not working right now. I saw a man sitting at a 4 top by himself while there's 100 people waiting outside.
