Daughter is a vegan and she ended up buying pasta. She loved it though she is very picky on taste. Its a carry-out Italian place with little seating inside. Parking is on the street and you get plenty of open spots if you have patience. read more

I'm usually skeptical of faster Italian food, but man was this place good! Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Portions were perfect. I got the Turkey Sandwich and my wife got the tortellini. Seriously good! Two reasons this wasn't 5 stars: 1. We ate there but they still gave us our food in takeout boxes. That's just a simple detail that really helps the environment and makes the place more classy. 2. They cheap out on the drinks, making you buy cans and bottles instead of having it out of the fountain. Saves them money but it's really obvious they are trying to suck more money out of yah. Best option for delicious and fresh Italian food in Carp! Very friendly staff and great for lunch or dinner. This place is relaxed and meant to be ate on the go or on location, note seating is mostly bar tops but holds about 50 people including outside in the front. They now serve beer and wine (no alcohol allowed outside). Note they are closed on Mondays. A lot of people tend to get the food to go so don't be discouraged if it doesn't look packed as you will be having a happy and full belly, I promise! read more

The sausage sandwich is perfect. The sausage is light and flavorful, the bread is crispy crusted and soft at the same time! I eyed the meatball sandwich from across the room (!!) and I vowed to try that next. Also had the chopped salad, which was tasty, but the sandwich.... Eat here. Just left there : bad management and poor communication. Just left there and it seemed so hopeful. We stopped in for a quick bite noticing there was only three other couples inside and 8 people working. We ordered and about 35 minutes later when everyone that came after us had already been served we asked when our meal might be done. We got no eye contact hasty "it's almost ready" waited some more and by mere observation saw they were filling a large phone order. It would have been nice upon ordering to be told things might be delayed. Everyone can empathize with waiting a long time to eat as long as you know. Also filling phone orders before the people present in the establishment with so many workers available is just bad practice. Our order wasn't overly complicated. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered a chicken salad. Food was okay but shouldn't have taken nearly so long with such poor communication. read more

I live in Carp. An out-of-town friend and I walked up Linden after a beach walk and decided to stop for lunch at 11:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We were literally the only ones in the restaurant. We started ordering and I asked if they took American Express because that was the only card I had on me. I was told "no" so we started to leave. The cashier then said that actually they do, but don't like to. We ordered two salads. After waiting for 15 minutes we asked how much longer. Several minutes later, the salads came out. Mine was covered in cheese, which was not one of the ingredients listed on the menu. With the lying about the Amex, the unreasonable wait, and the major goof on the food, I got a refund and left. I was not going to wait another 20 minutes for a salad. First and last time here. Maybe this place can exist on tourist money only, but Carp locals should go elsewhere. read more

Guichos is new in town and I've heard nothing but rave reviews. The owners are usually there and very helpful. The food is delicious, and many wonderful dishes to choose from. We've eaten there several times already, and decided to have them cater a party for 50. The food was great, hot and plenty of it. The salad was delicious. My fiancé and I just picked up dinner to go from here and were pleasantly surprised! He got the 3 cheese ravioli, and asked to remove the olives and capers- which was no problem since everything is made to order - He really enjoyed it. I got the tortellini, and loved the creamy tomato sauce. Pretty large portions too, I even have enough to take with me to work tomorrow. I thought the price was the right, the service was great, and I love that everything is made to order. If you're In a hurry I suggest calling ahead. We will definitely be returning! read more

Let me make this quick. I'm born and raised in NY. (Live in LA now) I'm Italian. I've lived in Rome. I know good Italian. I make a 100 year old meatball recipe that could make you cry. And I'm a skeptic of all Italian food made on the west coast. Oh and an even bigger skeptic if that Italian food isn't made by a big Italian Mama in the kitchen. :) So, when I walked into this spot, by the beach, "by the beach" owned by two brothers of Mexican descent - "mexicans!" holy meatballs my radar wasn't buying it. With all that said, I had to order everything - just to see. After all, the ladies doing the cooking behind the counter seemed happy with a dab of arrogance. And the owner seemed confidant. Hmmmmm. We'll see about that. Then it came. It... all.... came. Keep in mind this place is a "take out" spot although you can eat there. Blame that on the city. And after my experience - The owner should be able to do whatever kind of service he wants. Why you ask? Because its the best friggin food in all of Carpinteria!!!! Yes! I said it. That's right. And when you are serving the best Italian food in town - one should be allowed to sit (you can in fact sit here and eat it) and have a friggin glass of wine (can't do that) and maybe some service (no table service - yet) - like people. :) Wake up board of whatever in Carpinteria - give these guys a license to do whatever they want. Maybe you'll get a free delicious bowl of pasta or an amazing chicken sandwich out of it. I have to go now and be sad because I live in Los Angeles and thats over 75 miles away from this awesome establishment. :( read more

I have just been here once, with a family group. Limited table service. One orders at the cash register. The food was fine. I'm quite sure everyone was happy with their choice. Oddly, to me, all orders were served in to-go boxes, making some items, like my salad, a bit difficult to eat, having to reach down inside. All of the flatware is plastic. Not my favorite. read more

My mom and I set off on our Mother/Daughter weekend up the coast. We randomly stopped off the freeway to stretch in Carpinteria when we suddenly got hungry and saw an Italian take out restaurant. It was in the mid-afternoon, not a lot of people, and very sterile feeling inside. Could use some more artwork but the food was amazing! We just ordered something simple, soup and salad, but man!! It was soooo good. Fresh ingredients, lettuce, onion, feta, olives, and oil and vinegar dressing. It was huge! We split it but have enough left over for a lite dinner. We also order chicken soup each of us. yum-chickens, veggies and a delicious curry seasoning I think. To top it off, delicious garlic bread, light and natural with parsley and shredded Parmesan cheese on top. Nice people and good service. Price was just right too, especially with how much food we got. Will definitely come back again and again. read more
