Great brunch spot! We came here after shark diving nearby and it was perfect! It's such a cool setting! You can sit next to the water and the place looks like a tropical rainforest. Very pretty and relaxing after swimming with sharks! We came for brunch and it was delicious. We got the Hangover Nachos and chicken empanadas to start. Both were delicious. I'd highly recommend the empanadas if you just get one. For my main meal I had the blackened shrimp Benedict. So yummy! Their coffee was also amazing. My boyfriend got the Cuban Desayuno sandwich. I have never heard of this place. Glad my friends met us there for this is one of their favorite tiki spot. We sat at the bar instead of a table. We had a few drinks and lunch. Then we were able to walk around to see river, boats, directly behind the restaurant. We enjoy the ambiance. The weather was perfect. They have Plenty of Adirondack chairs everywhere which was very nice. You can sit and relax kind of atmosphere . I wish we had something like this in Jersey. It was great. My first time in this places and my experience was ok. This place is very very but very busy. Service is not great and food takes time if you can survive this you are ok. The food tastes really good, very Caribbean flavors, I love it. I don't recommend it in summer because you will die. Guanabanas was suggested to my wife in a Parrothead group. The reviews anyway were fairly mediocre, but we decided to drive up the A1A and give it a try anyway. Parking appears to be valet-only, but they were quick and courteous when we arrived and when we left. We were initially seated along the water, but in direct sunlight, which was blinding as it was starting to set. Since they weren't busy, our server told us to pick any other table in the area, so we found a cozy, shaded table with a nice view of the water. My wife ordered the Antigua with flounder, which was sautéed in a white wine & caper sauce, and accompanied with artichokes and olives on rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was slightly undercooked, and the texture reminded me of ceviche. Flavor-wise, it was actually pretty good. A nice mix of savory and tangy. I had the Potato Crunch Fresh Catch with grouper, with southern corn pudding, and sweet chili Brussels sprouts. The potato crunch was good, and the grouper was very firm and meaty. The overall flavor was a bit muted by the amount of sweet shallot jam sauce though, which had been liberally drizzled all over it. The corn pudding was creamy and sweet, and the Brussels were nicely roasted and covered in bacon and even more sweet glaze. Overall, the entire dish ended up being too sweet, partially due to my choices of side dishes and partially because they seem to like overly-sweet flavors in this area. Prices were fairly high on everything, as this is clearly a tourist destination. Our server was very pleasant and responsive, even as more patrons arrived around us. Overall, I'd recommend visiting for the ambience and the lively atmosphere. read more

I really want to give this more stars because of the awesome atmosphere and views but with the prices of the dishes I cannot! If your new to the area definitely give this place a try and try sit on the outer level to watch the boats go by in the inlet. As you can see the dish I got below was very well plated and i was excited to eat a good tilefish meal at market price. However, the combination of an over salted white wine sauce with the capers, olives and artichokes ruined the entire dish because it was entirely too salty. It got to the point when I had to drain the "white wine sauce" from the rice so I could enjoy my tilefish. Very upsetting especially after a 37$ dish. As for the gator bites, the price point is too high for a mini bowl of bites and there was to much breading that covered tiny little pieces and no dipping sauce. Iv been to places that have gator bites the size of boneless wings and these were a fraction of the size unfortunately. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Overall, spending $120 was not worth the food experience my wife and I had here. read more

Great experience overall, a laid back and relaxed vibe. First off, the ambiance was very island life and relaxed. We were lucky to be there on a Friday, around 4:30 because there was nice live music. The view is great because you are on a big canal with mangroves across the way. We were in time for happy hour, which was until 6pm on the Friday that we went. Little tip. - you have to sit at the bar or high tops to get happy hour prices. The food was good, but not great - you know that you're mainly paying for the atmosphere and overall vibes. We arrived at 2:30pm on Friday and the place was packed. We had a 25 minute wait but it was well worth the wait. Happy hour is from 3-6pm and their signature drinks are only $6. I had high hopes for this spot but was instantly let down. From the minute we pulled up we had to wait every bit of 5 minutes to get into the valet line because of the amount of vehicles going in and god only knows what else. I had high hopes for the Cuban as the name made it seem like this monstrosity of a sandy but it fell very short of the "fat" name. Skinny would've been more appropriate. The wrap was excellent! Nice and fresh. The Buffalo dip was great as well! The potato chips are blah, some crispy and some tooth breaking crispy. They say the chips are seasoned in old bay but I didn't get that flavor much. Overall wish they had fries but oh well! This is their take on them. The views, awesome! Would definitely be a cool place to check out at night when the temps drop. Overall a decent place, the valet issue I could get over. But the server was terrible which is a majority of what makes a restaurant experience good/bad. You either got it or ya don't. Our server didn't at all. Hopefully if we return we can have a better experience to refresh our review. But for now, solid 3/5. read more

This place was always a go to for us with our out of town families. Tonight was a disappointment. It's been a while, but we were looking forward to the macadamia coconut crusted snapper. It disappointed us. Mine was brought as picture shows. Usually the breading was crusty with visible coconut flakes, but this breading was almost powered, lacking flavor of macadamia and coconut. The mango topping was bland. My brother ordered the meatloaf which he's had before, but ate only a portion saying it tasted over cooked. I had heard amazing things about this place so I was so excited to try. Got there right as they opened and got an amazing table/view. Before we even sat down our server, Yury, says "we're so busy so I'll start you off with water" and walked away. No "hello" or anything. Brought our waters & we said we needed a couple minutes to look over the menu...she mistook a couple as 20 minutes without ever checking in. Then we saw her bring one too many waters to the table next to us and said "oops sorry" then came to our table and said "just thought I'd bring you an extra water just in case!" When clearly she was lying and just happened to have an extra. Our main waters were not once refilled. Our bill was $45.84 and we tipped $9. We looked at our credit card statement and it was charged $135.84. Yury typed in $90 tip on "accident". WARNING-took a week to get through it's to HR. I finally got through and Gail was extremely rude to me. She immediately started defending Yury by saying "she probably was having a bad day and made that mistake. She's our best waitress." They probably think she's great because of all the great tips she gets...when really she's overcharging tip and people just don't notice. Gail never apologized for this happening to us. After spending most of the call disregarding everything I was saying, Gail told me I would be refunded in 48 hours and before I could say thank you she goes "you're welcome" and hangs up the phone. I'm so appalled! Guanabanas needs to rethink the people they've hired from HR to waiters. They need to hire people who treat others with respect. After researching waterside restaurants for a day out of the house, Guanabanas looked enticing by the photos online so we decided to give it a try! I am obsessed with this place, the atmosphere, ambiance and the vibe overall - really makes you feel like you're on vacation (we are not but I wish we were). We were greeted by super friendly valet staff, and then a nice hostess! We chose to sit under the tiki hut at a high top table as they have fans ( which is a huge plus). Our server was phenomenal, so friendly and polite. Right now they have a limited menu for Phase 1 but everything we ordered was great, we got the shrimp fritters, a chicken quesadilla and my husband went with a 10oz burger. The beer menu and cocktail menu is extensive with great options, my husband tried a few local beers and a speciality cocktail while I had a pina colada to really set the vacation vibe!
