So...we had cancer surgery last year. Plus chemo, and all the recovery that goes with it. On our…read morerecent follow-up with the surgeon, she recommended physical therapy (why didn't she recommend that last year??!!). And, specifically, she mentioned Bustillo Physical Therapy. Have had several sessions now, and I can see why. Most PT offices will have you do stretches and exercises. Which is fine. But this office appears to be one of the few that knows how to handle cancer survivors. After the initial evaluation, the first thing that happened was a sort of massage of the affected area. This is to reactivate the damaged lymph system in that area, to counteract lymphedema. Most other PT offices won't do that. In fact, we consulted our massage therapists, and they said that even they don't do that. Each session begins with the lymphedema massage. Karen is a PhD in physical therapy (per the diploma on the wall). Maybe that has something to do with it. We have noted great improvement in range of motion, swelling, and pain in the upper body. We still need to work the lower body, but hopefully they'll get to that soon. They are starting to work strength now, because flexibility has improved so much. The two things to "ding" them for is: 1) they don't have a lot of equipment, and 2) their layout is not the best. I'm not sure if different equipment would benefit us or not, but they don't have a lot of equipment so we can't really know anyway. However, using the simple tools they do have we have seen a lot of improvement. As for their layout, the biggest thing is that the work/exercise area is also the traffic area. So you're standing doing arm curls, and someone has to go past you, you have to move to allow them to pass you. That shouldn't be. Someone's workout program should not be interrupted because another person needs to go by you to use the restroom, or needs to get to the elastic bands, or whatever. I'm not an expert at designing layouts, but there should be a way to have an unobstructed path that doesn't disturb patients' routines. This doesn't take away from the vast improvements we are seeing, but it is an annoyance that should be addressed somehow. This is one of those situations where I'd like to be able to do a half star (4.5 stars), but Yelp doesn't do that. We are happy with the results so far, and are looking forward to further improvement.

I highly recommend Bustillo PT aka ROC physical therapy…read more Everyone is exceptionally knowledgeable as well as friendly. My wife started therapy first. I needed therapy shortly thereafter and Trish and others that handled the phones juggled things so we could have therapy at the same time since we drive approx 12 miles to the facility. Miche is our principal therapist and is absolutely 10 of 10. When things get busy the other therapists switch off and know what they are doing. I have been to other therapists and this crew is top notch. One office in Scottsdale actually aggravated my condition. I did not return. Karen, the owner? Manager? Has put a great team together. My only reservation is that by reading this review so many will go there and they won't have enough time for my wife & me. (I make Joke). Happy to be able to give a great review. Ernie S.

I recommend BAR Physical Therapy to anyone who will listen! Dr. Connor and Dr. Wes are amazing,…read moresuper knowledgeable, and you can tell they care about their patients! I have had bad shoulder pain and upper back/neck soreness for a while from my job as a cardiac sonographer/echo technician. I was getting massages and I stretched all the time, but nothing ever really fixed it until I started PT with Wes! I first came in with a lot of pain in my shoulder, but the dry-needling with e-stim worked wonders! After 2-3 sessions I was no longer having that numbing, debilitating pain in my shoulder after scanning!! The best part, whenever my shoulder pain starts to flare up, I have all the exercises Wes gave me to help relieve that pain on my own. I more recently went back to BAR because I started having a weird pain in my hip as well. Wes listened to my word vomit of pains very attentively and figured out the root cause of it. He explained why I'm feeling the pain, helped to assuage the pain, and then gave me exercises to help me manage it on my own. They take worker's comp and HSA, and if you're paying out of pocket, it's worth every penny. 10/10 do recommend.

The progress I've made has been nothing short of amazing... my pain has improved dramatically, and I feel more confident in my movement than I have in a long time. What happened to ALL the BAD (sick) reviews about Anthony Yeung from 2019 (right before retirement)…read moreto 2009 ? They all disappeared. During my (forced) many (4) appts to see him - how bad I wanted Anthony Yeung to do my surgery ! Had to travel 50 mins for 4 visits, over a 6 week period. Then insisted that I stay awake for a discogram procedure at his 'own' surgery center (run up insurance bills). Would not do my surgery, if I did not have this 'unnecessary' extremely painful procedure. I requested that I be sedated for the procedure. Anthony Yeung would not do my surgery, if I did not have the discogram procedure - awake. Minutes into the procedure, it felt like my left leg was blown off with a shot-gun. I had never screamed so loud. I told him, to get me off this table, now. I was then sedated. I woke in a bed and was told that my entire left leg was paralyzed. I would regain the use of my leg in 4 hours. My MRI showed ALL the damage to my lumbar. This discogram procedure was totally unnecessary. Anthony Yeung claimed to be the best spine surgeon in the country - a few times. During my 4 forced appts, sick comments were made to me, bye Anthony Yeung. Anthony Yeung spoke to my spine surgeon in another near bye State and my spine surgeon stopped treating me. I badly required a spine surgery (per my MRI) and my spine surgeon in another State informed me, that he can no longer treat me ! Thank God, the Legend (as he calls himself) has retired. I brought my MRI to Nima Salari a couple of years ago. My MRI stated, that a piece of my disc in my lumbar broke off. The MRI referred to it as : there is a free floating fragment. This broken off piece of disc was touching my L4 nerve. I could not stand or sit and barely walk. I had extreme sciatica. Salari walked into the exam room (1.5 hrs. late - with a 1pm appt) and wanted to send me out for another MRI. My MRI clearly stated, I needed surgery. Salari stated, " I don't see it that way'. I traveled to another State and had a professional spine surgeon perform my spine surgery. That doctor saw my MRI report and DVD disc and I was set-up for surgery a month later. Stay away from this practice. If something bad happens during surgery, you better not sue them. They have too much control in the entire State of AZ and other States. You will NOT get the treatment you need from other doctor's and never know why, this is happening. I found this out from other AZ residents.

After enduring pain in my left upper arm that started around four weeks ago that just kept getting…read moreworse and worse, now radiating up my shoulder and neck, terminating above and behind my left ear, I decided to ask the benefits rep yesterday for a name of an acupuncturist he knew that worked with our medical insurance. I called and booked an appointment to see Victoria Mogilner, who sees Dr. Shawn Meyer's clients at Regent Healthcare, at 8 am on Wednesday, since she was fully booked on Tuesday. I'd decided last night that I was going to call out of work today, as I just knew I wouldn't be able to be of great service to my colleagues and our employer's guests. After discussing my plans for tomorrow to see an acupuncturist and massage therapist with Mom, she asked if maybe I should try to see the chiropractor, too, and since our insurance covered chiropractic treatments, I thought I'd give the modality another go- I've seen a couple of chiropractors since the 90's, but found I really enjoyed the massage sessions of chiropractic care most. I called Dr. Meyer's office and was happy to hear that I could see him at 1 pm- he sees patients here Tuesdays & Thursdays between 1& 6 pm. The receptionist was either new to the office, or wasn't familiar with this clinic (perhaps filling for someone today?), and it was around 1:20 pm when she finally gave me paperwork to fill out- Meyer had already welcomed me to his clinic and was greeting patients and directing them to different rooms and stations. I don't know if it was the state of my sitting down and hunched over filling out and signing ten to twelve pages, or my being so close to getting the help I needed, or maybe both, but my pain was getting worse. It was both a blessing and a curse that the temperature in the clinic was chilly*-- I was so cold that I may have napped for a few seconds. Thank goodness that the doctor was finally able to see me! I went into a room that had a chaise lounge that had a slat on one end where presumably the face (and nose) would rest on when the doctor asks the patient to lay with stomach side down. After reading my list of complaints I'd written amongst the paperwork I'd just filled out earlier, he first had me sit up straight to assess the strength of my arms. He then gave me a short neck and shoulder massage session, which felt great, and mentioned that I did feel very tense. He then asked me to follow him through a hallway to a room where others were laying prone on beds receiving heat lamp treatments, grabbed a stability ball, and showed me how to do a couple of stretch maneuvers. After verifying that I was following his instructions accurately, he left me to tend to his other patients. I didn't have to wait long for him to check up on me and take me back to the first room, this time to lay on my stomach-- so glad he had placed a disposable liner where my face was going to touch the bed. After quickly massaging my shoulder area and hitting a couple of trigger points on my neck, he placed his hands on my back and moving his hands around for a few seconds, and just when it dawned on me that he was about to manipulate my spine, I felt and heard the cracks! Oh. My. Goodness! Like I said before, I've had adjustments, but none of them were this loud, nor had gone for so long, or so it seemed, and none made me feel so much better instantly!** He then asked me to turn around and sit down, moving the bed to a reclining position as I did so, and asked if I was feeling better already, and I agreed that I was, and soon he was cracking my neck on each side... I swear it was like 90 minutes of massage therapy in one minute of spinal manipulation, without the soreness. (That would come later.) After the adjustments, Meyer said he'd try to see if Victoria could see me today, as she was seeing other clients here today. I had to wait fifteen minutes, but she was able to squeeze me in. She actually used both electric shock treatment and acupuncture on me, along with a muscle pain ointment, and even applied four acu-magnets on my left ear, whereby I could do self-acupressure as needed until I could see her again. (These, I'm told by another receptionist when I called back when I saw my reflection back in my car, will fall off on their own, as I hadn't realized they were pellets when she first applied them- I thought she was using traditional needles.) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/regent-healthcare-of-scottsdale-scottsdale?select=DT2SEwVeUWfepaDjuR6kuQ#DT2SEwVeUWfepaDjuR6kuQ I will return next week for more treatment. Here's hoping to feeling long-term relief soon! *The ointment's pain relief has wore off, and I'm feeling soreness, but still better than earlier. **Bring a sweater/coat!
