I said I wouldn't come back if he didn't get the authorization right then, which he did. I asked if he'd seen a copy of the MRI my doctor had sent. He did not. He then went searching for it and found a typed readout, not an MRI. The first thing he always says to me is, "are you ready for that new knee?". I've told him several times previously that I could not afford the down time. All I need are removal of torn meniscus and a cyst that would greatly reduce the pain. He's just not interested. I will go elsewhere from now on.

Afterward, my insurance paid $23. Then the clinic billed me $800. When I went back to ask them to honor what I was told--or at least work with me on price given their guidance--they refused. I asked about a self-pay option; they said no because my insurance had already paid $23. No flexibility, no ownership, no accountability. From my perspective, this is the definition of a bait-and-switch: reassure the patient about coverage to green-light the visit, deliver a token insurance payment, then dump the real cost on the patient and refuse to make it right. I left feeling misled and out hundreds of dollars for a "test" they weren't confident would help in the first place. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this practice to anyone. If you do go, get every "coverage" assurance in writing, ask for CPT codes up front, and verify directly with your insurer--because the verbal promises I received were worthless. I won't be back.

Sadly, I can't. Regardless, I persist. I injured my foot (playing pickleball? riding? climbing? running? hiking?) and my orthopedic doctor suggested I see Steve. Steve began my physical therapy with a series of manual stretches and exercises for functional body mechanics to address the issues in my left heel, achilles tendon and arch. He utilized cupping, KT taping and the Graston scraping technique (soft tissue therapy). He also used dry needling with estim (electrical stimulation) to treat the musculoskeletal pain. This was a game changer and brought immediate, almost total relief. I was in PT for about 6 months. I feel 100% better and stronger. Steve is extremely professional, but personable and friendly. I watched him work with other patients and his manner is lighthearted but seriously knowledgeable about how to address each individual's issue.
