Been coming for many years, evidently I haven't reviewed. Super convenient to my home. I laugh from his dry humor. Actually like him, good conversations. Legal work (not like some places that do shady stuff ) by the book Always 10-15 mins , fairly quick. Highly recommend. read more

The guy who performs the smog checks is thorough and efficient so much so I went back for a car repair. He was able to explain the issue in simple terms and as a female car owner I felt comfortable asking questions. He was very patient in answering. For smog checks it's a first come first serve basis, but on both occasions there were only one or two cars ahead of me and the wait wasn't that long. read more

knowledge and good business stamdards Usually you must wait a few minutes but appointments do not have to be made. read more

The place was easy to find and not on a particularly busy street. He was in fact a grumpy old man but I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. There's no "good morning" or "thank you" but what can you expect for a place called Grumpy's? I told him I found him on yelp and he gave me a discount. He made some conversation with me. It's a no frills place and no waiting room. Just a couple of dirty chairs and a parrot. You may have to back your car all the way to the street from the garage FYI. read more

Grumpy.. yes Fast service.. yes Quality work.. yes Definitely give him a ring if you need a smog check. Called him up and was surprised the name matched the energy. But he's straight up and will get the work done. It like these other shops that dance around the price and service to expect. read more

Grumpy's Smog Center - Front view - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Chatsworth, California

He may be a grumpy old guy but efficient in his job and fast. He doesn't waste your time and that's why I like the grumpy guy.

This man is a miracle worker! He was able to repair the issue in my '99 Camry that caused my check engine light to turn on. Without Grumpy's expertise, my car wouldn't have passed a smog check. To top off the excellent service, Grumpy charged me a very reasonable and affordable price. I am very grateful to him as my car holds sentimental value to me and pray for God to protect and bless this man. read more

Came here for smog check- Javier , super nice and friendly fast service. Highly recommend.:) go there to check out the cool parrot:)

Phewww the name is right. Called to get a quote for smog and he said "really you need a quote?" Uhh, yeah man it's worth it to call around and save. And I'd pay $20 extra not to deal with this guy. Wow. read more

Fast easy got the job done. Quality service Value reasonable for smog testing I highly recommend

I'll probably not be back because the shop is decorated with political Flags and I don't like mixing politics and business. It was quick, first come first serve. Didn't have to wait. Took 5 minutes from pull in to pull out. A bit more than others in the area, but I didn't have to wait. . read more

I needed to sell a car on Monday and the buyer requested a smog check on Sunday. Only shop in town opened for Sunday smog check was Grumpy's. Very nice and pleasant technician, not at all Grumpy hahaha. All these snowflakes are way too sensitive these days. He's just a genuine old school dude working hard to make a living. If you can't handle this dude's personality, you're the problem to today's society, not him. read more

Please doing business here at Grumpy's. Got my Corvette z06 smog checked with no issues.

Nice guy. All went smooth. Fair price. His assistant or other guy Jeff very knowledgeable too. read more

He accused me of having my receipt and the yellow copy and I did not. He said he gave it to me and he did not. I signed the receipt for my credit card and I filled out and signed the form he gave me on the clipboard. After emptying out my purse and my pockets to show him I didn't have it , all of a sudden my receipt and the yellow copy appeared in his hand and he gave it to me. He sure lives up to the name of the business. I will not be returning to this place. There are plenty of smog centers around. read more

So Grumpy lives up to his name. I don't care about his bedside manner. His price for a smog is reasonable and he does it right. I did emmision inspections for 20 years and left the industry so paying for something like this really sucks for me. Call him up and show up on time, he'll make the process as smooth as possible. read more

Very fast, convenient, waited for service. Technician was friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend and use again!

He's done my RV and cars for years. Looking forward to going there again this week. Very professional.

I found him six years ago, and is great. Does a good job, thorough, didn't have to wait, and his price is very reasonable. Besides coming to him for my smog check, he's personable and I always like to hear what he has to say. He's old school, and reminds me of my father's generation. I hope he's around for a long time more!! Thank's Grumpy, you are appreciate! read more

There are a LOT of smog places around. Grumpy gets the job done, but I've had it with his attitude. Yesterday I bring a car I just bought at auction and his first sentence is "oh, you brought me THAT?" followed by a lecture about how the seller should have smogged the car, etc. Then he tells me to come back the next day, even though he was open and had no cars in front of me. I am taking my business elsewhere, as it doesn't seem like he wants it much. read more

If you have an older car that needs a rear wheel roller tester (or not) Grumpy is your man. He's been at this location for years and his knowledge is award winning! The name is perfect for this place. I called to ask how much for a smog check and when l told him the year of the car, before I could even finish the make and model he hung up on me. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I called back 4 more times and got clicked on each time. If they don't want to do a specific year car just say so. Would it not be so much more professional to say I really don't do that year car? Absolute unprofessionalism, I live in the neighborhood and my whole family USED to go there but no more. I will be sure to let all my neighbors know as well. read more

I called around to a few different star certified smog places that refused to smog my 1994 Chevy blazer. My truck is nothing special, but most of these places did not want to take the time to smog cars older than 2000. Grumpy did not have any issues taking the time to get my car smogged and sent me on my way once it passed. I will definitely be back with my other cars in the future. read more

Grumpy was extremely grumpy, as advertised. A little rude and offputting, but also did exactly what I needed him to do which was smog check my car without an appointment. Asked me why I ended up there and I said he's close to my house. I ended up there because I didn't go the other 385 feet to the Chatsworth Smog Center which is where I was headed. He didn't have a mask on which would bother me but I am vaccinated so unlikely to die from COVID. Can't say the same for him. read more

Grumpy was very helpful, with a fair price and very efficient. I had a good experience with Grumpy! And that's why he has 5* across the board. read more

This was the worst engagement I've ever experienced. "Grumpy" walks up after I waited for a full 10 minutes with no one saying anything to me. He walks past me with attitude. I said to him "how are you". And he replied, "I was good until now". And I said "wow. I'm sorry. Am I responsible for that". And he replied, "yeah. I was about to go to the post office". So I said "well I'll go somewhere else so you can go to the post office" and he said "no I'll do it". So he's shaking his head and has attitude like I really did something to him. So he grabs his clipboard and says "why did you come here" so I said "for a smog check" and he shakes his head and looks down as if completely tired of the exchange and says "that's not the response I was looking forward! Didn't you get it? Did you see an ad? Did someone tell you about us?" And at that point I had enough and got back in my truck and told him to go to the post office. This is the worst exchange I've had with a merchant in years. He was rude and completely dismissive. If you want your bad day to be worse. Go there! read more
