Stopped into today for the CA state required smog and Mufasa was there to help. No appointment necessary and both Mufasa and Dale are great guys to get you the cert you need and on your way. Mufasa also gave me a tip as I was leaving to try and get to AAA to pay my registration without extra fees and right away. Being a AAA member for decades, this I knew, but appreciated that he had a payment tip. In and out in about 15 minutes. With cert, the test is currently $70 here for my standard size cars, with no features that may affect exhaust. We trust PV Test Only for our older cars, as well as our "younger" 2018 model. Cheers! Porter Valley Test Only - Smog check for my new baby. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Granada Hills, California

Great service. Fair price Has been in business for many years and knows what needs to be done accurately

This guy is great. I've used him for years. Straight shooter, smart, knows what he is doing.

2nd time here. Service is great and pricing is fair and I was able to use the coupon I found on their website.

This was my third or fourth time her. Always courteous and always quick. And honored his coupon, no problem.

My boyfriend came to get his car smog check here. A little gem nearby without making an appointment. Location: it's on Balboa Blvd. located next to the CVS plaza. His shop is all the way in the back! So you have to circle through all the car shops. Service: Takes about 30 minutes in and out. The owner was very friendly. He loves to strike conversations! Tip: check in to save $10 on your smog check! read more

Quick and easy smog check, I had 2 vehicles, he handled them back to back. No issues.

Only 15 minutes with modern cars with OBC computer diagnostic! Dale the owner is super friendly and quick, and made the whole process effortless. Highly recommend this business for anyone looking to get smog check done! read more

Great service, great pricing and knowledgeable and friendly owner-operator. The only challenge is finding the place the first time, it is tucked behind a row of automotive shops on Balboa but well worth the effort. read more

Very quick smog check. The owner is extremely nice. I will be using this location for all my smog checks from now on

What an actual HIDDEN gem, the address is on Balboa but I would recommend driving into the Knollwood complex. Porter Valley Test Only is located in the backside of other auto mechanic businesses, look for Jug Jug Sports Bar and take that alley driveway and you will find Porter Valley to the left of the alley. I just left PVTO and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of service I received. From start to finish, the experience was top-notch and I would highly recommend Dale to anyone in need of a smog check. First and foremost, Dale was incredibly thorough and professional. But what stood out to me was the level of customer service I received in the short time I was there. He was friendly and personable, and he went above and beyond to ensure everyone was greeted. I didn't make an appointment and he had a car ahead of me but took the time to check in to let me know what the wait would be. While I was waiting a few more cars lined up for a smog check and Dale checked in with them as well. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my experience. I will be returning to this location in the future and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of smog check. read more

I picked this place last minute. It was on the way to work, and I needed to get the smog test out of the way. It took about 15 minutes. The place is clean. The owner is very sweet. read more

Went just after 11am. No wait, and no reservations needed. Got my vehicle checked in about 15 minutes. Good communication and service. The shop is in the back of the complex so you won't see it from Balboa. Easiest to pull in from the shopping center from the south. read more

Gave me a discount after i failed my smog test but after taking it to a different place i found out that the information was input for my car incorrectly. I drive a 91 525i bmw but my car was stated as a 530i. I would've failed the test either way but for someone else it might've been the difference between a pass and a fail with how strict CA smog rules are. read more

Fast and reliable smog service. My family has been coming back for years for our smog tests. Highly recommended visiting this quality business. read more

I called the shop on a rainy day and was able to speak with Dale, who told me to come by for my smog check. I arrived about 20 minutes later and was quickly and efficiently able to get my car smogged in what is one of the cleanest Smog Test environments I have ever been in. Dale was great to work with and I highly recommend using Porter Valley Test Only when you need to get your car smog tested. I will be back in the future. read more

I needed a sort of last minute smog check. Really great service, very quick in and out, everything done with no issues or surprises. Owner is incredibly nice. As others have mentioned, it can be a bit tricky to find, but not a big deal, turn (east from Balboa) at the Midwood light into the auto shops, go to the back of that lot and then drive down the alley for a bit. read more

First visit; great service and quick. I pulled into the garage with no wait and it look me longer to grab an iced tea from Starbucks in the same plaza to complete the test. Dale is friendly, knowledgeable, and fast! Highly recommended. read more

It's small. It's hidden. It's popular. Welcome to Porter Valley Test Only! True to its name, all they do are smog checks. Living two minutes away, I called Porter Valley Test Only to see if I needed an appointment. Dale, the friendly proprietor, told me I did not and he wasn't busy. When I showed up, another car was in the process of being smogged. There weren't any parking spaces available so I double parked, which seems to be the norm for this shop. As I waited, a truck rolled in and waited "in line" behind my car. Five minutes later, another car rolled up and got in line. Timing is everything! My smog took five minutes or so. Time flew by. Dale is very efficient. My car has been smogged here before and Dale remembered it, which is nice. There is a bathroom available in the shop. Dale knew I had a coupon before I showed up and provided a discount of $10 for a grand total of about $60 for my 2005 car. Not a bad deal. The prices are listed on a billboard above check-out area, which I appreciate. I like consistency in prices. Smog certificates are sent to the DMV. Dale recommends a day before checking the website to allow time for uploading. Dale made the dreaded-smog-process seamless. The only potential downside would be parking during high volume hours, so you may be best calling in advance or showing up early. read more

Thank goodness for the owner. He is an amazing guy. Great service and great price. It's always scary to get a smog check but coming here makes things a lot easier. No BS with this guy! read more

Very convenient, local, and most importantly, honest. I will support my local smog testing station anytime!

Dec 19, 2019-I brought my 94 Explorer in the morning. There was no waiting and Dale was ready to do the smog test. He was friendly and explained what the test entailed. He gave me the cost and proceeded to work. I watched as he clearly knew what had to be done. My SUV passed and I was glad. It only took 25 minutes and I was out. A friend at work recommended Dale at Porter Valley. I was glad to have Dale do the test. I didn't mind driving 30 miles to have Dale do the test. I will use him in 2 years when again my Explorer will need to be tested. I highly recommend anybody that needs there vehicle smog tested, to come visit him! Thank you Dale! read more

First time here. Fast, easy, no hassle. Reasonable price. Good location. Friendly service! Was in and out in ten minutes. Thanks Dale!

Dale is friendly and knows what he is doing. He kindly waited for me since I was driving from Los Angeles during rush hour. To get to his shop you have to drive toward the back and it can get a bit hectic since there is a tire and auto body around the corner as well. The station is well maintained and clean. The price is not the lowest around, but he is fair and honest. Thank you Dale! read more

Very quick and efficient service. Came in on a Saturday morning and was done in about 15 minutes. Would definitely recommend.

What more can be said? Dale is the best. He is friendly and courteous and efficient and runs a clean shop. My first time here as well, showed up around 9 AM and didn't have to wait. He got me in right away, made sure I had a comfortable chair to sit on while he did his thing, and I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes total! The shop is in the rear (past Jug Jug Bar, then make a left down a row of garage shops) and does not face the street (Balboa). Thanks, Dale, I will see him for all my smog checks from now on! read more
