An expensive lesson. I only took my car in for an oil change. They strongly recommended to do a throttle service and fuel injection service bc it's something that MUST be done every year. Me not knowing anything about cars I immediately agreed and added that on to the service. I learned later on that those two services were not even necessary and were only offered to upsell gullible customers like me. Even as I look at the report they didnt even detail the status of my fluids which most car places typically do during an oil change. $523 wasted. Was looking for a new mechanic, and came across Steve's on Yelp. Seemed like they had decent reviews, and was closeby from my work. I called ahead and walked in, and spoke with Tony the manager. Tony was straight, to the point, polite and professional. I needed an overdue oil change as well as a smog check. I requested if Tony could finish the work in 3 hours (I walked in at 11:30 and requested if everything could be done by 3 pm), and he didnt make any promises but said he will do his best. Despite having a few other customers ahead of me, sure enough I got a text from Tony at 2:45 saying car is ready for pickup. I had also requested Tony to look into a couple extra items for the car, which his mechanics had done and put together a rough estimate for me. Came here to get my Prius C smog checked - yes they're making us smog our hybrid vehicles now! I called ahead to find out about pricing, and spoke to the Office Manager Tony, who was helpful, and advised they accept walk-ins. Shortly after my fiancé I drove over, and apparently we arrived just before lunch was to start (about 15 minutes before), but Tony made to sure to get us in expeditiously, and we were in and out in less than a half-hour. We took my mother in law Prius here for a Smog check. Yes, you read that right that we had to do a smog check for a Prius. I was familiar with Steve Express Automotive because when my wife had her old Toyota Corolla and it was having problems, I took it here to get fixed. I called ahead to double check that this place does Smog check and ask for the price. There no appointment needed and you just show up, I was told on average it would take around 30 min. When we arrived, they didn't have much parking spots but I was able to find one next to the entrance. When my mother in law arrived, I give the key to the mechanic and he went to do the Smog check. The person working the counter said that Prius never fails the Smog check and also said he doesn't know why a Smog check is needed for a Prius. It took around 30 min and we didn't have any issues. read more

I've brought my car here on multiple occasions and every single time Tony and the other mechanics have been beyond helpful! The first time, I brought my car in for a high pitch noise it would occasionally make. I had brought it to a few mechanics before and they couldn't seem to find exactly what the issue was and quoted us ridiculous prices for exploratory work. When I brought it to Steve's, the guys there were able to find the issue right away and at half the cost of what the previous mechanics were quoting us. This last time, I needed a headlight and tail light changed on my BMW. I didn't have an appointment and Tony was able to accommodate me right away and got it done in less than 30 mins. Right before their lunch break too! I highly recommend Steve's Express and am super grateful to have found a trustworthy place to take my car. Came here for a quick smog check and had a great and fast experience. Everyone was very kind and they we're really precise on how long the wait time would be, which is really appreciated. The convenience of their location makes it a very easy as a first choice for anything I need for my vehicle. For this visit I was in and out in 30 minutes for my complete smog check, but that included being 2nd or 3rd in line. I paid $60 out the door and everything is sent directly over to the DMV. I'm good with eliminating the stress of finding a reliable place that can smog check and fix your entire vehicle (if needed) all in one place. I used to trust this shop for many years. Steve was great! Last month I took my car for an oil change and they finished the job quick right before closing, I was surprised since it was so fast, I ask if all the fluids were check before driving to Texas. On my drive I notice the water for my windshield was empty, I questioned if they really check all the fluids, but to my surprise as soon as I got to Texas my oil change came on!! And the weirdest part is that the sticker(which they made me go back the next day to changed it for an error) match my current mileage. It was only 1,400 miles!!! When I stopped working in the area I still took my cars here since the folks were real nice, I trusted them, had a good repour with them and they were opened on Saturday's After Art Left this place went downhill fast. I regret to say that my experience with Steve's was far from satisfactory. It was downright disappointing and even dangerous. Initially, I was quoted a reasonable price for the repairs I needed on my car. However, upon receiving the final bill, I was shocked to see that the amount charged was significantly higher than what was agreed upon. As if the financial aspect wasn't bad enough, the quality of the work performed was appalling. The brakes, which were the primary reason for my visit, were still malfunctioning after the supposed "fix". This negligence nearly resulted in a collision, as the brakes failed to respond properly when I needed to stop. thank goodness I was not going fast. Furthermore, the new steering box it harder to turn as if it's not working right. Additionally, the new header they installed had to hammer on the header pipe to fit the wrong steering box. Overall, my experience with Steve's was a nightmare. From changing pricing to substandard workmanship and hazardous oversights, I cannot in good conscience recommend this auto shop to anyone. read more

Brought my car to fix check engine light code p0128 after i replaced thermostat and coolant sensor and they said they fixed it after replacing with oem parts. they gave me the parts back but what i received is not what i have put in. shady!!! i wonder if they even fixed it or they just cleared the code. read more

If you are a woman, do NOT come here. I came in for an oil change and they tried to hustle me out of money by saying I needed to replace everything in my car down to the air filters. When I looked at my car later, I noticed they took one of my air filter screws and took out the cabin air filter, without putting it back in. Three weeks later, I found out I've been driving without the cabin air filter and with the loose engine filter cover! Not to mention they were rude to me over the phone and told me I was not taking care of my car. If you can, go anywhere else. read more

Let me just start and say that I've been here for two separate issues. The first time which was around summer of 2017 and it was an incredibly positive experience. Second time was just a couple weeks ago (Spring 2018) and it couldn't be worse. I came in for new brakes and an issue with with a noise my engine was making. I received their quote and I didn't even get a second option because my experience was so positive the first time. When I picked up my car it was repaired but several new problems came up. They said my car was ready and I picked it up several days later. The hatch on the back of my car was broken, there was oil stain on my roof and the person who gutted my storage in the back of my car looking for my wheel key never put anything back together. I thought... maybe someone had a rough day? Maybe this is a one off problem. Art had someone clean up the oil stain and while I waited I cleaned the mess that someone made in my car. Unfortunately I had to come back for a part to be ordered for my car to fix the rear hatch. I eventually found time to drive an hour out of my way to have this repair done. It took a couple hours and I came back to a hatch that was almost like it was before. There is now a gap in the center of the handle and it no longer sits flush. I asked Art about it and he said that my entire back of my car (made of metal) was bent and will no longer sit flush. I have never heard of this and I doubt any other car technician would agree. I was frustrated and left. Now the breaking point for me was when I was driving home and noticed that my hood was flopping up and down because once again Steve's express was incapable of completed a job fully. I felt so incredibly unsafe and when I called Art regarding this he didn't have any empathy. He didn't care at all. He didn't even say sorry. I'm not sure how this person is managing a customer service business when he lacks the social skills for it. If I were him I would have handled this much differently. I never write and want to share negative reviews but people have to know how bad my experience was. If you came here before and had a good experience than good for you. My advice is to take pictures of your car before and after. You should also go over the entire car yourself before you leave to verify that you didn't receive any fun surprises. I will never come back. I look forward to a response from them that will probably try to blame me for their issues instead of taking ownership and responsibility. read more

I came here because I received a free oil change coupon. All in all, I will not be coming back. I asked them to check my brakes and had the rear ones replaced. After I started driving around, I started to hear my brakes squeaking- a problem I didn't have before. I got them checked somewhere else that I trust (Automotive Instincts) and I was informed that the brakes I bought were not brand new. They also informed me that the front brakes had 40% lifespan on them even though Steve's Express was trying to tell me to replace them immediately. I really dislike leaving bad reviews, but I came in for an oil change and a new cabin filter, and quickly discovered that they broke the cabin filter cover off and replaced the filter with the wrong size.
