Beer: They have a great selection of beers of all different types. I enjoyed the Raspberry Randy. I absolutely loved it! Beertenders: To my surprise, they actually were not grumpy at all. They were good to suggest beers, despite being there on a busy day. Building: This is what I really loved about the place! I have included pictures. They have indoor seating, of course, but they also have a nice outdoor area with plenty of shade. I patroned during the summer and sitting outside was lovely. There was a food "table" in the parking lot (a pseudo-foodtruck situation) serving up something that smelled delicious (but I did not have time to try!). They also have a store with some of their swag. (I love my beer cooler stickers!). Parking was directly beside the building and super easy. Tips: You have to buy "beer tokens" (at least on the day I was there, unsure if this is just something they do when busy) so make sure you are in the correct line to buy the tokens and for ID check. Didn't love it! This brewery is clearly a favorite of locals, as we arrived about 30 minutes before closing and the place was full, with plenty of conversation and revelry. The space is clean and it's nice to get to see parts of the brewery operation. So, why 2 stars? The beers are *not* good. We tried a watery stout, a bland lager or two, and another that I've already forgotten. What's interesting is that they offer several mixed beers (meaning: a single beverage that consists of two of their beers, mixed together) and explain that mixing beer is an old technique used when certain beers weren't good on their own. I think that speaks for itself. Additionally, folks let their dogs roam around freely. Yeah, they're on a leash, but that leash is dragging on the ground behind the dog as it goes where it wants. It's not a deal breaker for me as there were only 2 dogs roaming around when I was there, but from reading other reviews, I think that the owners might wanna reflect on their pet policy. All in all, the beer was simply not good. Watery, flavorless, bad beer. Not worth the money to taste. read more

Grumpy old men was a highlight of our trip to Blue Ridge. We enjoyed our flights of beer with beautiful weather and views of the mountains after a day of hiking. Service was great, the older gentleman (I wish I knew his name now but he had a white beard) suggested great beers. I loved the get pitted peach Weisse and the Choco blanco which chocolate wheat, he said it was his wife's favorite and it was mine too. This was not only great beer (per my other 1/2 as they understandably don't have any gluten-free in the microbrewery), it was a solid deal. Purchase a mug from the 7 options for $15, and receive a card for 6 pours...not "tastings, 3/4 glass pours. From what I was told, every one was solid. Being the driver on this day, I was mesmerized by petting dogs, playing with toddlers, and talking with regulars who sang along with the radio or played games outside. A small warehouse type building with an industrial garage door as the main entrance, one can meander through a the swag or find a table and see who ordered what delivery or packed a picnic basket. Fabulous place! We visited several local breweries during our stay in Blue Ridge and Grumpy ended up being our favorite for their great beer and friendliness. They have a very well curated selection from light blondes such as the white chocolate (my favorite), to IPAs and the stronger marshmallow stout (my husband's fav). Flights are offered which was a great way to sample all of their selection. We ended up taking a growler of their stout home. The brewery is like a big warehouse with ample seating, witty decor and they even sell Grumpy's merchandise. The place gets packed with locals on Fridays and weekends with the occasional out-of-towner. We ended up enjoying their karaoke night on one occasion which was a lot of fun and great talent! Locals and staff are super friendly and they make you feel welcomed. I wished I would remember the name of the girl behind the bar. She was always smiling and greeted us warmly every time. This is my new happy place in Blue Ridge. We spent a VERY enjoyable Friday afternoon at Grumpy Old Men Brewing, getting to know the owners, playing Jenga (the normal sized version) and enjoying really good beer. Here's the 411 on the pours I tried: Aska Pale Ale - 5.8% - light, smooth and very, very drinkable Devils' Den IPA - 7.0% - bigger body, a classic IPA ​Grasshoppa IMP IPA - 8.0% - DING DING DING! Winner of the day for me! Big Booty Black IPA - 6.0% - yes, a black IPA with coffee notes. If you like darker beers, you'll like this one Grumpy Old Men Brewing, like others, is dog friendly, has some outdoor activities (think cornhole) and offers your choice of complimentary glasses along with the tasting. As a craft beer fa, I can usually find something to like about any brewery, but what Grumpy Old Men has that others don't is a combo of friendly and interesting owners that talk to guests, an eclectic facility (repurposed skis for benches and a sled that's been turned into a table), interesting and fun merch, and beer that will make you very, very happy. Grumpy Old Men is a great small brewery in the mountains of Blue Ridge GA. The brewery is very popular with both tourists and locals, so you can expect to encounter crowds on the weekends. I always find Grumpy to have a vibrant atmosphere and a wide variety of beers. I enjoy sours and on a recent visit had a margarita sour I would highly recommend. The brewery is dog friendly as well, with ample outdoor seating. read more

Great brewery! Cool vibes, everyone is friendly. Allow dogs inside, which helped since it was raining. The Choco beer was SO good.

My husband brews beer for a living so whenever we go someplace new, we always look to see if there are any breweries worth checking out. That being said, we had absolutely no idea this brewery existed (I just set up the business on Yelp because I think people should know about it!). The only reason we found out about it was because a sales girl from Out of the Blue (also on Main St.) told us about a tasting event going on the day we were in town. We walked over (about 3/4 of a mile from the shops on Main St.) and the place was packed! They had cornhole set up and lots of dogs were there. Everyone was enjoying the nice weather and good beer! We paid $10 each, for a glass and 6 tasting tickets. Unfortunately we were a little late to the party so they 86ed a couple of the beers before we were able to try them. We were able to try the porter, the pale ale and the IPA. All were tasty! Another company (Anchor Brokerage) was there with a nice snack table set up - cheeses, crackers, pretzels, trail mix, etc. It was a nice touch and much appreciated! The brewers/owners were there serving the beer and I think their wives were also serving. Everyone was super friendly and excited to be there. One of the owners plays bagpipes and he did some live music, which was really fun! After reading their Facebook page, I think they do these tasting events every couple of months. They aren't allowed to sell their beer at the brewery so this is the way they get around that. From what I've read, a lot of the local restaurants have their beer on tap as well. Overall, we had a fantastic time and are so glad someone told us about this brewery! I really don't know if they are open on a regular basis or if they are only open to the public during tasting events. We went on Thanksgiving weekend and the service, beers and ambience were amazing. I definitely recommend.

Place was really crowded on a saturday, parking and seating were tight and bathroom lines were long, but obviously that's because lots of other people enjoyed the beer as much as I did. Great selection, high quality, and true to style. They had some really interesting beers on the menu too like the white chocolate and the marshmallow stout. The hot dog stand outside had a great menu but we didn't try anything. It would be nice if there was a better space to send kids that inevitably come along with their parents. read more

Always looking to find new breweries to visit in our travels, we came across Grumpy Old Men. We walked in and we order two pale ales. We had to pay for each round at a time, no tabs. There were no samples available and the two ladies behind the bar were disinterested in dealing with us. We sat at our table and the ceiling was dripping on the table. As for the beers, the pale ale was very malty but I like that, my wife did not and went with a blonde ale which she liked. Would have been nice to sample the beer instead of buying an entire pint. The whole layout of the place looks great, plenty of seating inside and a patio out front. We got the vibe since we weren't locals, we were just there. read more
