We love Grumpy Jake's the food is always wonderful. The service Is always friendly and food comes out fast. Never a upcharge for extra dressing or sauce. This is one of our to go to places when we are up for the summer.

Grumpy Jake's has the absolute best barbecue, and they never fail to give us a great meal! Went there for a birthday meal, attentive service, comfortable booth and tables.

Labor Day 2025 my mom and I came up here for some barbecue. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich w/ Cowboy Fries and a hot link on the side (I haven't had one of those in so long!) along with some serious horseradish and a little bit of mom's coleslaw. She took some of my fries, too, so it's ok- lol! 5/5 stars!

Popped in here for dinner as it wasn't far from where we were staying and bbq sounded good. The place was bright and clean and we were greeted right away upon entering. Service was fast and friendly and we had our food quickly. We both got The Pig, the pulled pork sandwich, and we shared the homemade chips and fries. The sandwich had a soft fluffy bun, the pork was juicy and tender, and the bbq sauce was rich, sweet, and smoky. The homemade chips had good crisp though not much flavor on their own and they weren't greasy. They were phenomenal when dipped in bbq sauce though. The fries were seasoned and cooked to perfection. They didn't need anything but I dipped mine in bbq sauce because it just took them over the top. For dessert we got the banana pie and the brownie ala mode. The banana pie honestly tasted like a banana laffy taffy so if you don't like that flavor I wouldn't order it. The brownie was warm and flavored and of the two was our favorite. If you're looking for a good bbq spot that's fast, friendly, and clean this is a great spot.

Came up for 4th of July weekend and this was my 3rd option for various reasons. Maybe it was my fault for not getting BBQ at a place that had BBQ in the name, but pot roast sounded so good. Pot roast is typically a dish where all the ingredients are slow cooked together in a pot so the flavors can blend into the meat and veggies. What I was served was some slices of roast beef smothered in gravy (I do love gravy though), canned vegetables with decent mashed potatoes. So disappointed. The corn muffin was good though. Despite the disappointing dish, the service was good and staff was very friendly. The inside of the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming.

This place was cute. A few questionable signs in the front but that's what kind a town this is. Food was good, service was great. A few folks continuously checked up on us. I even took home a slice of pie. We'll be back next time we're in town... I did notice an extra charge on the bottom of my ticket... $6.38. Maybe it's the pie. It doesn't say, so I don't know.

Grungy even by barbecue joints. Greasy, dark and needs a good hosing out! This place just creeped us out. It is on the "Never Again" list!

The av I adore I got on it was sliced in such a way that half an avocado was spread nicely across the entire bun. My husband had huevos rancheros - Christmas. The café is small, quaint, spotless, and filled with playful bear décor that gives the whole place a warm, cheerful personality. It has the cozy feel of an old-fashioned country diner--the kind of place where you can settle in with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy a hearty, homemade breakfast. And let's talk about the food and those portions--OH MY! I ordered three eggs, bacon, hash browns, and homemade biscuits and gravy. Everything was cooked to order, arrived surprisingly fast, and tasted wonderful. The biscuits and gravy especially satisfied that serious comfort-food craving I had that morning. They were warm, filling, and exactly what I needed! The coffee was a good, strong black brew that fit the country-café experience perfectly, and the prices were exactly what I would expect to pay for such a generous breakfast. The restaurant was busy, and with only two waitresses working, they could definitely have used another set of hands. A few guests had to ask for coffee refills or their checks, but this is a brand-new restaurant, and I am sure they are still working out the little details. The staff was working hard, so bring a little patience and enjoy the experience. Lovely Bear Cafe has all the ingredients to become a local favorite: delicious homemade food, huge portions, reasonable prices, fun décor, and plenty of small-town charm. Give this new café a chance to delight you the next time you are visiting the Pinetop-Lakeside area!

We used this Dickey's location to cater a small event we hosted this weekend for friends. We love…read moreDickey's in Tucson and have used them for catering dozens of times, but this was our first time ordering/having food from the Pinetop-Lakeside Dickey's. I was, quite frankly, a little hesitant when I read some of the reviews online, but decided to give it a go since we have yet to find a really great place on the mountain for pulled pork or brisket. There are certainly plenty of choices for barbecue (that and Mexican food) up here in the area, but we haven't been super impressed with the flavor or moistness of the meat from any one of them. So, I called the restaurant and spoke on the phone with a young man named Aaron. I told him that I had some reservations about using them because of some of the online reviews, but that I was willing to give them a go and was counting on them to deliver a delicious meal that would impress my guests with the flavor, quality and quantity of food. I mean, really, what's more embarrassing than hosting a party and having the food be bad or even just mediocre? Or worse than running out of food?) Aaron assured me that the food would be delicious; that our guests would like it, and that there would be plenty of it. He was very polite and took quite a bit of time with me on the phone, so I decided to put my trust in them to deliver great food. Oh, my gosh, are we glad that we gave this Dickey's location a shot!?!? The food is EXCELLENT!!! The meats were ALL so flavorful and so moist, tender and delicious. every one of our guests LOVED the food! The chicken had the perfect hint of smokiness that good barbecue should have and was tender enough to cut with a plastic fork. The brisket was juicy and flavorful. The pulled pork was delicious and was not at all dry; as pulled pork can sometimes be. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and had just the right amount of richness to the cheese sauce. The "wings" we're not really wings, and were rather more like a big chicken nugget, but it was all moist, tender white meat and they were much easier to eat than your typical chicken wings. The guests really seemed to love them. No one had any complaints or negative comments about the food at all. Everyone asked where we had gotten the food, They all said that they had not tried this Dickey's location. or even any Dickey's, and would definitely now be going there on their own. The employees we spoke to on the phone were all very polite and very helpful. A woman called the day of the party to confirm my order and clarify a couple of things. She made a couple of suggestions, which I followed, and which actually turned out to be the right choices to enhance my order. I thought that it was excellent customer service and showed attention to my order to call on the morning of my party, just to go over everything on my order. After working 15+ years in customer service in public relations, I can recognize and appreciate when I am receiving good service. I found out later than she and her husband own the restaurant. The person who delivered the order, Robert, turned out to be her husband. He was great and helped me to get things set up in my chafing pans. I enjoyed talking with him while we worked. It turns out that he is a veteran with 22 years of service in the infantry, which is really impressive and, I believe, shows the content and strength of his character. We have nothing but the utmost of gratitude and respect for anyone who serves, or has served, in our military or as first responders, so I was very glad to know that we were supporting a veteran-owned business. Everything about our interactions with this Dickey's location was perfect. The customer service, the attention to detail and the quantity, quality and flavor of the food were all fabulous and far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be using them again for catering and will, I am sure, become frequent visitors to their restaurant. Thank you to Dickey's Pinetop/Lakeside for helping to make my party a huge success! You made me look good. Thank you!

The cuts were also unacceptable. I pointed this out to the employee and requested a refund for the turkey which would have been about $2.50. I was told a refund wasn't possible but they would replace the item with something else but that wasn't an acceptable option for me. Anyway, going forward, if I ever eat there again, I will determine the food quality prior to making payment and suggest everyone visiting this location do the same. Dickey's isn't a low cost food choice and they should pay more attention to what they serve their customer to avoid this in the first place. I won't make this mistake again. Thanks for your attention.
