As we arrived here we were taken aback by just how pretty it is outside and although it's too cold to sit outside this would be a great place to come in nicer weather. There is dining outside and sometimes live music. Tonight the guys were good. I bet in season this place is mobbed. There is also plenty of on-site parking and other places to shop if you felt like doing so. We ordered a dozen of the oysters and they were the kind that I enjoyed last time we were down at Hilton head - St. James oysters. They are plump and juicy with a slight brine. Absolute perfection which was beautifully presented on the tray of ice. See my pics. We decided to share a bowl of the shrimp chowder and saying that it was fabulous is accurate. Hunks of tasty, local shrimp in a creamy base, put smiles on both of our faces. I ordered the Poké bowl which was full of high grade tuna accompanied by basmati rice, chopped cucumbers that felt like they just came out of the Earth, and edamame. They were lightly seasoned with wasabi aioli which was creamy and very gentle on the palate. My partner got the low country boil which he enjoyed because he loved the shrimp and the sausage with the potatoes being done to perfection. $5 HH domestics and good service added to the pleasurable experience.

But attentive and did a good job keeping us informed when drinks did not arrive after a reasonable wait time. The food was great. I liked the selection and enjoyed the food. We ordered grouper, flounder, fish and chips, peel n eat shrimp, calamari and pickles, and snow crab - all were enjoyed. My only problem with this place was that they offer the option to select specific seating when making a reservation and in our case did not follow through. Please do not offer this specific option if you are not willing to honor these reservations. We had wanted to sit up by the bar, music and cornhole area at a high top (per my reservation). As the hostess was leading us to our table I noticed we were heading to a low table at the complete opposite side of the bar, so I stopped her and informed her of our reservation request. I figured she may not have known. Seconds later a lady was in our face telling us in a rushed, rather aggressive manner that the table we were being seated at was the best they could do. No high tops were available. So no hello, may I help you from her. No, hello I am so sorry that we cannot honor your reservation. No empathy or professionalism whatsoever. I was not happy. Good communication is key to allow understanding. My problem wasn't so much the table, but with how the supervisor/manager spoke to us. To make things worse, once seated I went to the restroom and on my way back there was a high top for 6 (my reservation number) cleaned and ready to go. So there was a table available. First time at Fishcamp. Disappointing experience - at first. The waitress was so kind though she made up for a rough start.

When I asked they didn't say anything about reimbursing. This was the most expensive meal of the week at over $200 for a Jamaican chicken sandwich, bbq chicken sandwich, 2 orders of shrimp tacos, and 2 appetizers. Let's start the atmosphere was pretty nice. They had live music but not loud enough for the entire restaurant. Now to the food: I had the Jamaican Chicken sandwich and tater tots. It came out on a huge bun and I was thinking man this is going to be a huge sandwich. Nope. Over half the sandwich was nothing but bread. The chicken was like 1 chicken tenders size basically. Hey the tater tots were good. My daughters had the shrimp tacos. Comes with 2 tacos, they were very good My wife had the bbq chicken sandwich and tater tots. She said it was good but nothing special. The appetizer was shrimp cocktail which was good and the dip trio. Your basic bar food dip trip. We had a few drinks and they were average at best. We had to ask for a shot to go along with the daiquiri because we were pretty sure we got a virgin. Overall not a good experience and the $20 parking fee blew my mind, atleast reimburse or give a free appetizer to compensate. For tourist we don't necessarily know there is free parking elsewhere and the people didn't even mention it.

A true Lowcountry…read morehole-in-the-wall with handwritten signs, paper plates, no-frills seating, and a queue outside that tells you everything you need to know before you even order. It's the kind of old-school Southern seafood joint that focuses entirely on fresh seafood, generous portions, and cooking things the right way instead of trying to be trendy or polished. We started with the soup of the day, a butternut squash shrimp bisque, and honestly it set the tone for the whole meal. Perfectly seasoned, rich and creamy without being heavy, and absolutely loaded with shrimp morsels. No corners cut anywhere. Even the "cup" was more like a bowl compared to what most places serve. We also tried the conch fritters. I'd never had conch before so I was curious, and they completely delivered. Fried perfectly, piping hot in the center, crisp on the outside, and served with a spicy dipping sauce that worked really well with them. For the main course, I had the fried grouper sandwich with mac and cheese, while my wife and daughter got the same sandwich with green beans on the side. Everything was excellent. The grouper was fresh, flaky, and fried just right without feeling greasy. The sandwich came dressed with lettuce and tomato, and the tables are stocked with giant bottles of house-made tartar sauce plus every condiment imaginable, including whole Tabasco peppers, Pete's hot sauce, and anything else you could possibly want. We enjoyed it so much that we actually came back later that evening just to grab a large to-go order of the bisque. What really tied everything together though was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. You can tell this place has built its reputation the old-fashioned way: consistently great food and people who care. Definitely recommend if you want authentic Lowcountry seafood without any corporate polish or tourist-trap vibes.

The coleslaw was my least favorite thing on my plate, and it was very good. My mom loved her fried shrimp. The guys ordered the last of the grouper and said it was "nondescript." We arrived at 5:30 pm in the shoulder season and had zero wait. Those who arrived at 6 pm had about a 10 minute wait. I hear that in the summer the line looks like Disney World. The ambiance is beach casual with plastic table clothes and styrofoam plates. The tables have everything you need. It's not a place to linger. Go out for ice cream to do that.
