We have a family birthday on Dec 13 and during that family get together, it is our tradition to decorate our tree. Today, being Dec. 13, we went to buy our tree at Severts stand and were so disappointed at the few mediocre trees they had left. We wanted a tall tree and although the tree we bought was tagged as an 8 foot tree, if it weren't for the 10 inch bare top spire, it would just be a scant 7 foot tree that does have a nice shape but is not full. Usually the lot is packed with trees that are all so consistently beautiful that it never takes long to find the perfect one in the perfect size. Today was a stark contrast! Not surprising that there weren't even any other customers. I asked when another truck would be arriving and unloaded and was informed that they would not be getting anymore trees. Our first time being disappointed with Severts.

Since Amber Brooke Farm's closure, my mom and I were looking for a new U-Pick farm. After seeing…read morethis place advertised on Instagram, we have made Crossroads our new home. It's pretty simple, and more cost effective especially if you're picking pounds. It typically cost about $4/lb which is standard. The field is huge and plentiful, and you will find some juicy, sweet berries. We stopped by on Tuesday after a weekend of rain - which meant ripe berries. We picked 9 lbs in 30 minutes. This farm is great for families as they have a playground and covered seating. Also, they have additional items that they sell like produce and jams. After coming here a few times, I will say if you can come during the week - definitely make the trip versus the weekend where they will more busy. Hopefully in the future they will have flowers, produce, and other fruit like blueberries for U-Pick and really grow the local farm.

I was looking forward to go to Roger's Farm today for their U Pick Strawberry season…read more My friend, her 2 year old son, and I arrived to find they were closed. We didn't go out of a whim. We checked their website, Instagram, and Facebook before making the trip to make sure they were not out. Their website listed times for Sunday from 11am to 3pm for u-pick. Their Instagram and Facebook had the same posts. Their latest post said they will reopen on Saturday, March 13th and no follow-up post if they were picked out. I even sent them a DM asking if they would be open. I called on Saturday (3/13), early Sunday (3/14) around 8am, and again at 10am & 10:30am to make sure we weren't going to be arrive and then be out of strawberries. When you call the message speaks about closing dates for February, and then says their inbox is full. We got there at 11:33am and found the gate closed. We drove around thinking maybe there would be another entrance, and came back to their only entrance. There was nobody around. We called again; no answer; voicemail full. We checked their websites and social media again for an update -- alas, nothing. My friend's 2 year old was so upset. It was just so disappointing to drive out that far. We think maybe they forgot to "spring forward" with daylight savings, but as my friend said...isn't daylight sayings time meant for farmers? Either way we got there at what would've been less than 30 minutes to open. They should've updated their website, social media, or phone system at the least! We can't support local or farmers if we don't know when they are in business.

When you walk in for the first time, there are so many happy and healthy looking plant varieties. I can see that they are very well-cared for. Tom greeted us soon after we got in and even told us about the salsa night tonight and wine flight (tastings) they have available. We ended up buying a Superfine chocolate bar, a Buddha succulent, a bag of chips, and a can of Ghia blood orange aperativo. Tom h I really liked the fresh smell and homey layout of the place! The ambiance is warm, welcoming, and filled with so much charm--it genuinely makes you never want to leave. Whether you're popping in for a quick look or spending time browsing, it feels like a little sanctuary. The staff are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely knowledgeable. Whether you're brand new to plants or a seasoned plant parent, you'll always walk away having learned something new about plant care. They're always happy to answer questions and share tips that actually make a difference. The plant selection is amazing, with everything from succulents to lush climbing plants, and even some gorgeous perennials like nerve plants. Prices seem standard at first glance, but considering the quality, I'd say they're a steal. The plants are all in the right soil mixtures, clearly well-cared for, and just thriving--it shows they really know what they're doing. How cool is that? I cannot imagine another town smaller than Atlanta having such a wonderful resource. The resource is not just the variety of liquid seaweeds, and Mycorrhisals, and exotic sprayers available, it is the ready easy knowledge of the kids that work there. I have access to faculty in the Horticulture Department at UF, but they have better things to do than spend all day answering my questions, and they go into theoretical complexities that I do not need. The kids working this lovely hydroponic supply outlet do not have better things to do than spend all day answering my questions. And they are so well educated, knowledgeable, and experienced that they should be teaching and giving seminars. Yes, they are a little expensive relative to online, or even the big box stores like Lowes, but if you want this type of resource to continue in towns this size you will not just by your nutrient solutions there, you will buy your coco coir there as well. Come on people; don't go to Lowes just to save a few bucks on the common stuff, by helping this great business thrive you will help your plants thrive, and when your plants thrive, you thrive. We got the $25 special and it comes with 2 plants, a vase, dirt and rocks and $5 worth of little items to decorate your terrarium. I went a little overboard and wanted to get some extra items to decorate so I paid a little extra but it was so worth it. The ladies working were so nice and helpful , they walked us through the process effortlessly. I loved to see my terrarium come to life and my mom also enjoyed how hers turned out. I will be coming back since I love the little Knick knacks and small items they have seasonally for example I one time bought a succulent giraffe type pot and haven't seen it again so I'm glad I got it when I first saw it.
