Grover Landscape Services exceeded our expectations. They took great care with our huge oak tree in the back yard over our pond when cutting it back. They covered the pond that has Koi with plywood, taking superb care in catching falling branches and not damaging any nearby foliage or the pond. We also used them to take out two tree stumps. They were so careful with both of them and one was right next to the pond. No damage was incurred. We had two wonderful teams for these jobs and we can't be happier! I just had a tree removed, 2 trees trimmed, and Redwood trees trimmed away from my house by Grover. The crew of Mario and Carlos were exceptional. They not only did a great job trimming the trees, they were careful not to damage plants and drip-irrigation. Of concern was the tree removal and possible damage to a neighbors property. Not one branch fell on the neighbors property and not one plant was damaged in my yard. And, every scrap of debris was removed. Grover deserves 10 stars rather than five! Thank you Mario, Carlos, and Grover. I would also like to commend Grover on the quote to project completion process: Randy quoted the job; Patrice scheduled at a time convenient for me; and the crew did the work. Response to Manager: Apologies for wanting a stump removed and reaching out to a business I didn't hear from for over two weeks. Charity did not give me a timeframe or even a evening notice to make arrangements. No communication on moving vehicles and talking to my neighbors. Charity knows I did not harass her. That is a blatant lie from your employee and business. I waited over two weeks after accepting the proposal and then called. That doesn't sound like someone being pushy about having two stumps removed. Once again, poor communication and customer service. March 15th Arborist comes out to look at the two trees to be removed, including the stumps. March 17th they send the proposal and I accept it. March 31st I still do not hear back about scheduling anything or a response to accepting the proposal. I call to see what is going on. The lady said they were backed up for a month. I understood and she said Charity would call me when they have an opening. Today, April 1st Charity calls and says someone can come out and grind the stumps in about an hour and I do not have to be there. The person arrives, I am gone but can see on one of my driveway cameras facing the street. She calls and says he cannot do his work due to the neighbors truck in their own driveway being too close, even though the boat is between the truck and the bushes. So, I call my neighbor who is at work and they go out of their way to move the truck. Charity said she would call or text me if a problem occurs or they cannot do it. While at an appointment I receive no call or text so I assume all is fine. I check my camera and the bushes were not touched and no work done even though my neighbor left work to move their truck. They person from Grover still left...so I call Charity and she said I will have to wait another two weeks to hear from a lady named Patrice to possibly schedule. After a few choice words I canceled. I do not recommend Grover for residential services due to no communication whatsoever on their end and no customer service from Charity. Waste of time. read more

If you need help with a tree, these are your folks. Unlike most landscaping companies, Grover hires professional arborist that know trees, their characteristics, and their behaviors. Matt Long is an absolute expert and his team are nothing more than professional. I had a very messy tree in my front yard that previous landscaping companies did not fully trim. It seemed no matter which landscaper I went with they never understood how to trim the tree properly. I realized it was because these other companies are just tree trimmers, and they trim them all the same, they don't take the tree into account. Grover knows trees and they know exactly how each tree's unique growth patterns need to be pruned. I called them and immediately they saw my problem and they saw how poorly other companies cut the tree to make it so messy. Matt told me it will take years for my tree to recover but that in good hands it could. I knew I was in good hands. His team came and trimmed my tree properly and within a month it was already growing like its old self! My tree was coming back after years of poor jobs thanks to the magic of Grover. Matt has been nothing but helpful to me, answering all my questions and giving me advice on my other trees. My main tree will be taken care of by no one but him and his team at Grover for years to come. Thanks so much for your knowledge, attention to detail, and professionalism. Don't hire just a landscaper to fix your tree, hire a certified arborist landscaper! They know what to do. Trust me. I've done the leg work for you. read more

I scheduled Grover to trim my trees last February. They helped me with an partial emergency trim when a top broke during a storm. They came quickly, and took care of the problem. Then, after they completed the full trimming of all 8 trees, they adjusted the price because of the emergency trimming. My trees were misshapen due to years of trimming by power line trimmers. A challenge for the Grover crew for sure. They did a great job! The trees look awesome! read more

re: grover tree service & landscape reply to my negative review. #1: final price was lower because i refused to have them do the trees stump removals. because i no longer trusted the workmanship of grovers i hired another company for 3 stump removals thus cost was a few thousand $$ less than original bid. #2: when grovers showed up for the job, i asked the guy who appeared to be i be in charge for the "supervisor." i wanted to make sure/clarify that little damage was done to the 3 30 year old pittosporum bushes. (i noticed no pulleys or ropes, thus my concern) the "guy" said there was no "supervisor." yet the guy acted as supervisor or "foreman" during the days they were here. #3: i had fallen asleep after i spoke w. him. when i awakened & saw the damage to the bushes (which appeared to not be able to regrow. i'm an experienced, skilled gardener. landscaped 2 houses/yards & carefully tended them. most all who pass by think my yard has been professionally landscaped.) it was after i awakened that i telephoned grover to speak with manager about my concern about damage to bushes & "foreman's refusal to verbally engage with me at beginning of job about my concern about no pulleys & ropes. #3a: i insisted that someone come out immediately and view the damage. it was only after the arborist came out that the "foreman" & his crew began using pulleys & ropes on the 3rd tree. (thank god. that probably saved damage to the nearby 3 other large bushes) #4: i believe the manager's name was curtis. as i told him of "no ropes or pulleys" curtis interrupted & abruptly said, "if i had wanted ropes & pulleys the "estimate/bid would have been higher." yet... during the 3x the arborist had been out for the bid he never mentioned a bid with or without pulleys & ropes. (despite my being very clear that i wanted no/minimal damage.) so i believe curtis, the manager's statement reveals that the he knew that pulleys & ropes should have been used on 3 70 ft sequoia redwoods. #5: i learned months later that grovers tree service had been sold to a different owner. i was told by 1 of the most reputable nurseries in town that the original owner would never have allowed such "cutting corners" & "failing to adequately propose & communicate." #6. i willingly pay for expect good quality commodities & services. i do not make complaints unless i was actually denied appropriate service & quality. grovers' rep reply to my complaint here on yelp is disengenuous, misleading & attempts to defame my character. grovers never offered to repay me, even a bit, for the damage they caused. i have less problem with the arborist with whom i had worked with years prior. the problem is with new ownership, manager, curtis & "forman," or "supervisor" who obviously obfuscated, intended to lead me to think i was getting 1 service, but they provided less than that. i was still overcharged by grover for the lack of quality of their workmanship & false advertising. even though i cancelled their digging up of the huge stumps & the cost that would have entailed. grovers business lacks both quality workmanship & integrity. they overcharge by "cutting corners." read more

Called on a Monday to request an appointment for an estimate on a few things in the yard. Got the earliest appointment for Thursday, they barely arrived in the time frame given and told me my estimate would be emailed to me. Grover was the third estimate I had that day and I received all others on sight. As I wait for the email for a few hours I call and was told it would be 24 hours while I am trying to make a decision and schedule a service between all the estimates. 3 days later I receive my email and of course it was insanely higher than all other estimates I received. Because of there lack of urgency for the consumer to be able to make a decision in a timely manner I went with American Tree Service and I am so glad I did. Would definitely not recommend Grover.... shop around and don't default to them. read more

We just went thru a city tree removal and replacement with the city of Modesto. Huge ordeal getting them to approve the replacement!! THEIR city tree was wreaking havoc on our yard..! They finally agreed to the replacement as long as we covered the total cost... We went with Grover Landscape. We worked with Patrice and Matt Long thru the whole process. Grover was absolutely the best to deal with!! Their team removed the tree and the clean-up was perfect! Matt shopped and shopped for the replacement tree due to all the restrictions placed by The City. Matt saved us almost $1,000 on the tree selection... Special Thanks Matt! Today they removed the stump and replaced the tree. Jose was the Operator and did a fantastic job getting the stump out and again the clean-up was perfect! Big Thank You to The Grover company for providing great work, excellent customer service and timely removal and replacement in spite of all the wrangling we had to deal with with the City Managers! I am very pleased with the entire process from my initial call to the work that was just completed. The estimate seemed quite reasonable based on all the work that needed to be done. The day of the service was postponed because the night before there had been a terrible storm and there were many trees down so work had to be rescheduled. I was contacted and updated as the new date was being finalized. The day came and I cannot say enough about how pleased I was. The first truck arrived and I spent time explaining my vision of what was to be done. The person I was speaking to was very patient with me and understood how important my trees are to me. He knew exactly what I wanted done and when the other truck arrived with the rest of the crew they got busy right away. When they were finished they asked me to check the work that that had been done. It was perfect. This is not my first experience with Grover and it will not be my last. I recommend them as the best crew/company around. read more

I received estimates from several companies prior to selecting Glover. I choose them because of the professional representation of the person who came out to our home to give the estimate to cut down our tree; however, when the workers came to cut down the tree I was very disappointed with their work. We only requested that a portion of the tree to be cut down. After they were finished I had to point out the jagged edges that were left on the tree branches. If I wasn't there to point this out they would have left the tree with the jagged edges. The following morning I noticed that the workers left oil spots all over a brand new paved sidewalk under the tree. When I called to have someone come out to clean the sidewalk the first representative came out and said that he would request that someone from the Glover come out to clean up the oil. Several weeks passed and I never received a phone call. I finally called and was given a date that someone would be out. No one came and no one called. I called again and the office manager said that she would call me back with another date. It has been over a month since the tree was cut down and to date no one has come out to clean up the oil and I have not received any return calls. Needless to say I am very disappointed in the service that I received and I will never use Glover again. It is unprofessional to mess up someone's property and then ignore it. Every time I look at those oil spots I wish that I had gone with another company. read more
