I LOVE this nursery! This is where I go to ask any questions about plant or tree care. David - the older gentleman- he might even be the owner? has an abundance of knowledge. He is a bit introverted, but is such an expert. I'm not sure if he's still there or if he retired. Everyone else is also very helpful and knowledgeable. Their indoor store is one of my favorites! From their plants to gifts to the best Christmas tree/Ornament shopping during the holiday, there is so much to see! It was one of my favorite places to get quality gifts for my grandmother, who had mostly everything she needed so I had to look for special, unique gifts. It's a little bit more pricey at this place, but well worth it, in my opinion. The quality of service and the quality of plants is bar none. Great Plant Nursery, Found Everything I Needed! I had a great experience at this nursery! It's huge and had all the plants I've been searching for, silver dollar eucalyptus, white lavender, and even Meyer lemon dwarf trees (which are so hard to find!). While the lemon trees were currently out of stock, the staff took down my name and number to call me when they get more in, which I really appreciated. I usually shop at a plant store in Stockton, but this place might become my new go-to. I had seen some older reviews mentioning bad customer service, but that definitely wasn't our experience. My boyfriend and I were helped by super friendly and knowledgeable staff, even though we came in close to closing time. Overall, a great experience, I'll definitely be back to buy more plants! read more

This is an update. I waited for their designer landscaper to come and work on new landscaping. She came twice with her notebook and then I never heard from her again. I was really ready to invest in new plants and ideas. Grover did my landscaping years ago. It was so beautiful it ended up in the front page of the Modesto Bee home page as a before and after. It had been years and it was time to redo. I love this nursery and have always given it a 5 star review. What happened? That would have been a big project. First visit from Modesto and we found a wonderful and varied selection of plants and garden extras. The service was top notch and the owner was knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. So i try to support a local business and i go to get some plants for the garden. The pepper i bought had chewed up leaves (all of the ones i wanted so i picked the one with the least amount) i go to ring up and asked him what is eating your peppers. He said caterpillars. He said i could buy a bottle $20 to spray it. He also said they treat all their plants weekly. So i did. I get them home and put them in the garage till i can plant them. All the plants are infested with fungus gnats. Ugh..I'm returning all of it. read more

We purchased 3 white birch trees a few months ago. One looks great the other two didn't make it. I called Morris Nursery to see if they had any warranty but she told me if we had purchased the soil and fertilizer at the time they could do something about our dead trees. Unfortunately we were not informed about that policy at the time we purchased the trees. Their prices are high enough that you would think they could replace the trees. read more

I cannot believe I have never reviewed my beloved Morris Nursery. The quality of their plants, trees and shrubs are beyond measure. Their staff is knowledgeable and caring for all your questions. I have visited this great local nursery for many years and all my trees have thrived. The crew will help load your vehicle and they are always friendly whether its a rainy day or 100+F weather. I sure miss their orange kitty Fred. He made the place! If I were to give a tip- if you are looking for a specific bare root tree, always place the order sometime in the fall or early winter so its guaranteed for you. I did this for a specific variety of apricot and also for an avocado variety tree I wanted. I am always pleased with their service. Last winter I finally joined them on one of their free workshops-- I learned so much! They even gave you a brief summary of the workshop so we can take home, I still use it as a pruning guide. read more

My favorite nursery in the area! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and if they don't know something they'll find the answer for you. I get my fertilizer and soil amendments here because they always can direct me to what's best. All you have to do is ask. I'm a hobby gardener who only has a few seasons under my belt so I really appreciate their expertise. I like to buy my herb plants here as well and they are always very healthy! After going to Ace, Home Depot, we realized we forgot Morris Nursery. We were looking for a tall indoor plant for our house. We asked to have someone meet us in the area and she shared some options. I find that the customer service here is terrible. I've visited on three different occasions lately and I have the same feeling of being a nuisance to them when I ask for some help. I used to visit this place with my mother long time ago and it was a pleasant experience. Now I will never go back. No matter what. I called this nursery because I have a juvenile giant sequoia that needed to be transplanted, and I was also worried about possible root rot. I spoke with an employee who told me he would personally transplant my sequoia for me. I took my baby sequoia in today and Josh did an awesome job putting him into and new terracotta pot. I am super happy, and I'm sure my plant to happy too! (This plant is my baby.) The people here and super friendly, and definitely know their stuff if they are knowledgeable about a tree that doesn't naturally grow in this climate. I'm very happy with my experience and knew I had to leave a yelp review (which is something I rarely do.) A friend passed away just over a week ago. After offering to help in any way, I was asked by one of the family members to give a bench to the wife for her birthday in just five days. I asked a large number of mutual friends, and they answered my call quickly and generously. Morris was closed on the 4th, so on the morning of friend's birthday I called and asked for a person who could make decisions. You'll have to trust me when I tell you that I was asking a lot. I asked for three things which I was ready to accept a "no" for each of, but I was greeted with compassion and kindness, and got only a "yes" for all my crazy requests. Is Dave an owner, because he's the one who answered my phone call and my requests for help. God really used him to bless our friends! Our friend who donated money to help pay for the bench/glider are thankful. Our dear, newly widowed friend, her children, her parents, her sister, her cousins and their families are thankful.
