This nursery has some really unique plants and décor that you don't easily find elsewhere, and that's the main reason to visit. There are definitely some beautiful items and a nice variety if you're looking for something special. However, the customer service was disappointing--staff didn't seem very helpful or welcoming--and prices are on the expensive side compared to other nurseries. It's worth stopping by if you want something unique and don't mind paying more, but the service and pricing could definitely improve. read more

Went there looking for a Myrtle tree. The lady that helped me went above and beyond to help me out. The lady with the short hair at the register totally different story. I walked up to pay what I was going to purchase and there was one line for two registers. The lady in front of me was called up to the short haired lady because she was next. Then a gentleman came cut in front of the line and asked her at the register For something, she walked away to go help him find it came back and rang him up. So I'm still waiting my turn patiently when another gentleman walks through the front door gets in line and she proceeds to help him. I'm not sure what the issue was, but I left my product on the counter and walked away. If you're going to have two registers and only one line make sure you don't have arrows on the ground, pointing one line to two registers because some of us like to be polite and follow the guidelines and apparently that lady with a short hair tend to prioritize certain folks. I am not claiming anything take it for what it's worth. But ever since Fran is no longer the owner this place has gone to shambles. read more

I've always been happy with the customer service here. This isn't the sort of place where employees are going to ask if you need help while you're shopping, but when you do need help it's easy to find someone and they drop whatever they are doing to assist you. This is preferable to me, but I know it isn't to everyone. I was very happy with my experience buying bulk mulch. I didn't shop around for prices because this is the closest nursery to my home and I knew I was going to have to haul multiple loads and didn't want to drive all over town and back, but their prices were consistent with what the internet told me I should expect to pay for bulk shredded redwood. Buying the mulch was extremely efficient - I walked up to the register, asked the employee how many yards he thought would make it into the pickup truck bed, bought that much mulch, drove to where he told me to drive, and was on my way home after the 5 minutes it took to load the truck. I've been really happy with my purchase, so definitely 5 stars for bulk purchases. That being said, since this is a nursery, and plants are presumably their specialty, this is a 3 star review. Now I don't buy their expensive Monrovia camellias and azaleas and rhododendrons, so maybe if I did that would make a difference, but the water wise native plants I normally tend to shop for are all hopelessly pot bound. When I say this, I mean I've literally never seen a plant I've been interested in there that hasn't been pot bound. In addition to the sad state of the plants, I just don't think their selection is anything to write home about either. Since their quality and selection are both lacking, in my opinion this is a 3 star business. I do stop in when I need a plant that doesn't mind my getting rough with the roots, again because it happens to be the closest nursery. I went in today to grab some verbena, and I was immediately reminded why I don't go in more often. I had to hack through the poor little guys with a knife to resurrect them. Went there today to buy some trees. After a short time of looking we were helped by a very friendly and knowledgeable lady wearing a Texas A &M hat. She told me her name but my short term memory is not good. She stayed with us until we were done and helped load the pickup. Don't know the price of trees these days so I don't know how to compare. Seemed reasonable. Will be back because of the service and selection. Very well maintained grounds. read more

The 2 guys worming were nice. But prices omg expensive. Got 1.5 yards of road base and it was $131. Completely outrages on the price. Also the road base I'm pretty sure is dirt with barley any 3/4 crushed gravel. Not even closed to being mixed up. Horrible product and price. read more

Paid for sod the day before. Go to pick it up and they have less than half of what I paid for set aside for me. We went to Westurf today to buy some moss rocks for the yard. When they were loading the rocks they damaged the tailgate on my brand new pickup. The forklift operator was very apologetic and said to go in the office and they will complete an accident report. I went inside and the lady sitting in her chair pretty much said too bad, when we load it's load at your own risk but we offer delivery. She didn't even come out to see the damage. If I could give Westurf a negative 5 review I would! This place has horrible customer service!! They've had my Honda lawn mower for 3-4 weeks- broke a bolt when removing the blade and are supposedly able but unable to fix it! First of all they weren't even asked to remove the blade but decided to do it to sharpen the blade. They haven't done anything to fix the experience we've had with them just constantly ignoring our calls. Do not purchase Sod from this facility we measured perfectly correct! And they sold us TOO much sod when we tried to return the sod that was their mistake they would not take the sod back. I spend so much money at the business! JUST BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! The managers response was that customers measure incorrectly, we confirmed our measurements were spot on!! I just picked up a very large load of sod and everything went great. Right up until I was trying to get it loaded onto my vehicle. The guy who loads the sod was extremely rude ignored my questions and seemed to me like he thought I was bothering him. Purchase anything there at your own risk. After many years of making my nursery needs there I had my first problem. After purchasing a tree there, within three days the tree was looking very sick. I took a photo and showed a couple of employees there and they said to nurse it along for at least four weeks to see if it was in shock and most likely it would recover. Five weeks the tree was dead and I was told I couldn't return the tree because I didn't have the soil amendment on the same receipt as the tree. I did purchase the amendment but not on the same receipt. After three more visits I convinced the manager that the requirement is ridiculous. Finally on the fifth visit I found someone to replace the tree. THANK YOU! How any company in this day and age with social media being what it is would argue and stand their ground for a $36.95 purchase in it's self ridiculous. And since I easily spend $1000 there each spring, throw the customer a bone. I didn't want any money back just the replacement of the tree. To me that doesn't sound unreasonable. I'm please to say the management there came to their senses and replaced the tree, but five visits to solve a simple customer service issue doesn't give the customer a warm and fuzzy feeling about this business. I found the women working the cashier and some of their help concerned and understanding but the two men managers I'd avoid if you need any help. If you're a plant novice don't shop there since friendliness and service isn't their best attribute. They have a great selection of plants but terrible customer service. You'd never have this problem at Home Depot, just saying. read more

They cater to old people. Simple as that. If you walk in and you are younger than 50, you will be ignored. The employees just don't seem happy, or happy to help. I go here alot because I work for a landscape contractor. I've gone there maybe 100 times. One time i went on a weekend off the clock, for personal needs, and they mis-priced a bottle of weed killer with their price gun, 8.95 vs 12.95. Well after they rang it up and it came out to 12.95, I said "why would it ring up at one price, when the sticker says another?" . He didn't hesitate to tell me that "oh we just gave it the wrong price" Wow. Didn't apologize? Didn't offer to sell it to me on their mistake price? Makes me check the price twice now. Their sod prices and delivery is good. As well as their gravel. I been going for like 10 years now and they still treat me like a brand new customer every time. They never say "hey Rick it's you again!" Or cut me a break or anything. It feels like the only green they are interested in is money. read more

3 phone calls were placed to this business for a large decorative pot I had ordered. The day I had placed the order, I requested an item number so that when they did receive the shipment, I could have an employee easily locate the item for me via a phone call. 1st phone call, I was told they had just received a shipment of a variety of items, and I would get a return phone call once they located what I was inquiring about. 2nd phone call I placed, the employee looked it up on the computer, said that there was one showing in the inventory, but also stated that number may not be true. Then the employee went to further say that it would require her to walk outside to get a visual/physical count to see if the item number I gave her was really on the premises. So I said back to employee "You mean to tell me that although the inventory on your computer shows 1, what the computer is telling you may really be inaccurate, so you have no way of checking to see if that item was really on your premises but to physically check on it?" (trying to hint to her to go outside and look!) and the employee answered "That is what I'm saying." So I sarcastically said, "Thank you for your help." My point is basically, the employee made it seem like it was physically impossible to walk or get to the area to get a visual on the item I was wanting to purchase. So instead of the employee wanting to keep a customer returning, the employee was TOO LAZY to walk outside to check on that one item or INCAPABLE of ASKING another employee to do the leg work. When we bought our house a few years ago the front yard was so hideously overgrown and just old looking. Full of weird giant hedges and some oleander, gross. So we yanked it all out and started over. West turf was where we spent A LOT of money for about 3-4 months while slowly revamping the yard on the weekends. Love this place! Large selection of healthy plants, trees and annuals. Well organized arrangements. Beautiful fountains and pottery. They also have all the 'big' stuff like top soil, bark, sod and some gorgeous boulders. They do deliver but it's kind of expensive-worth it for those boulders, though! Helpful staff will make sure you find what you're looking for. I have never bought a bad plant from Westurf. Actually all the plants we've bought there are thriving big time and our yard looks lush. I guess now we're on to the backyard.... read more

For a large nursery their supply is fairly limited. Focusing heavily on annuals and popular perrenials, don't expect anything out of the ordinary. I came on a Sunday early afternoon and with only one other customer I was ignored the entire 15 minutes I was there. One shrub cost $13.00 more because it came from a different grower!!! Staff was not helpful only to say that is what happens. No prices are listed in the grouping of plants, just the sticker on the container. PLUS they do not guarantee the health of the plant. Last time I will shop here. Bought a tree here yesterday. Stopped at Morris Nursery first and they did not have the variety I wanted so I bought a different variety. Then I went to Westurf and they had the same tree for $8 less. Westurf had the tree I originally wanted so I bought that. In short Westurf had a better selection and much better price. Customer service is great at both. Westurf is my first stop next time. I bought a large weeping cedar tree last year at Westurf and the price was great.
