We were late to our reservation, however, one of the owners was so nice to accommodate. This was the most perfect day to be there for a first time or 5th time. weather was perfect. Outside pizza vendor was 1.5 hours out on orders. so we stopped in the little store and found excellent crackers and cheese to hold us off. I heard the Genoa bread was amazing from a Modesto bakery. But, sold out:( you pay for everything and the. Bring to your server and they put it all on a charcuterie board and bring to your table. I really enjoyed their Chardonnay on this rather hot day. People were dancing, drinking, eating and socializing. It was great! the wildflowers on the grounds are so beautiful! They have games to play. And dogs are welcome! Check out all my photos. I'm giving this 4 stars only because I think it's ridiculous to not be prepared and offer pizza as your only vendor and wait 1.5 hours knowing you are completely booked for the day. and, the pizza was really thin, hardly any cheese we could see or taste. Basil was less than appetizing to look at, but we were starving. So we ate every paste bite. I think it would have been nice to offer fresh Apples, pears or grapes in the store for the charcuterie boards. You have to try their soft Jalapeno cheese in the cold case!!! It was delish w/the crackers from Rustic oven. I loved the store... the 2 guys who do the treasures with grapevines are incredible. I can't wait to take a class. Parking is awesome if you can get under the covered area. Bathrooms are clean. This definitely is a must to visit. highly recommend:)

The farm wasn't too crowded despite the number of cars parked, it's in a large lot with plenty of space to roam around. We were originally going to Lemos Farm in HMB but changed our plans due to traffic, and I'm so glad we did because we wouldn't have come across SFF otherwise. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The farm did not have any rides but had live music and petting zoo for the kids. There's also food trucks, cookie & coffee stands, and other vendors there. One of the best experiences for us was the corn maze and choosing our own pumpkins to take home (included in the $17 entrance fee). We also got to take home some basil and broccoli plants for our garden. It was such a great visit overall! Highly recommend Smith Family Farms. Can't wait to go back next year!

I'll be at we left at 9:30 in the morning and the ticket per person was very reasonable. They take cash or Venmo. There are a lot of great small kids friendly things to do like a petting zoo where you get to meet baby chicks in person and even touch or hold them and they have pumpkins for you to bring home per person all in all we really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't really have time to explore at all, but we look forward to coming back. My only feedback is to provide carts for taking the pumpkins to the car, it's challenging with little ones when your hands are full. Quick tip: cash or Venmo. Bring a cart for your pumpkins if you have a lot to carry.

The kids and adults all learned so much about tortoises, and the whole experience was incredibly informative, hands-on, and just so cool. How often do you get to get up close and personal with giant tortoises like that?! The owners were so knowledgeable and kind to open up their home and space to all of us. You can tell how much they care about their animals and sharing what they know with kids. Such a fun and unique experience, and we can't wait to come back again with my youngest for his field trip!

Well- i'm not want to give bad reviews, but I would say this particular tortoise home to learn…read moreabout turtles is definitely for older children versus younger. As a mother, and a teacher for TK/kindergartners, and with a 80 year-old Owner I believe the gentleman running this tortoise ranch needs a bit of an update. He is very much a man of the times which is fine because he reminds me of my old grandpa who was short into the point but somewhat blunt. His wife also repeated everything he said and reiterated it numerous times and would get more annoyed at my five-year- old classroom children as they, like most children do, would forget things. They both seem to get rather irritated with the younger group of children. I felt bad for the children getting reprimanded, and I did have to raise my own voice to ask the wife to talk to the children in a nicer tone, and I felt bad for the children as well since they forget things right after they said. That being said, the older fifth graders that went on this tortoise tour rather enjoyed it, but they found a few vocabulary words funny, and later asked us, " what's a drug sniffing dog?" And " how can sex change an animal?" which were both statements spoken to both (younger-TK & Kinders AND older 3rd-5th graders) Group of children. Ughhhhh Since we're in Silicon Valley, verbally speaking to children for 20 minutes about concepts of tortoises or any animal without a visual aid is very cumbersome. My TK and kindergarten children cannot sit still for a five minute digital book let alone sit still for 20 minutes and three of them started to fall asleep as they sat crisscross, applesauce, and nodded their heads off. One of my five-year-olds could not sit still, and he got up a couple of times and the owner reprimanded him and raised his voice saying, "hey you take a seat! " it was rather alarming to my five year-old classroom child so I had to whisper and talk to him off to the side so he didn't start crying. The tortoise feeding is very interesting and they have strict protocols!! The owners are very aware that most parents do not watch their children, but as a educator/teacher, we are constantly supervising our children, so the ratio was 1 to 14, and we would only allow about eight children in the tortoise area with four teachers watching. We rotated through our children since we had a rather large group, but it seemed to bother the owners because not all the children were in the pin at the same time. It seemed a bit chaotic but then again we also had a group of about 35 children in a rather small space. Overall, I do not think we will ever come back to this particular tortoise ranch, but they were rather interesting, and I really do worry about the cleanliness of everything since the tortoises walk, eat and poop, and pee all in the same vicinities of where we were walking. We made sure all the children wiped off their feet at the park nearby, and some of them stepped in tortoise number two, so they were rather disgusted, and their shoes stunk. On a happier note, I'm glad some of the children got to see tortoises granted at least five of my children were terrified of the animals and their hard shells. Lol then again they are four and five years old and everything is new to them. We would've been better off going to the library.Hee

We were lucky to snag a spot while a car was leaving, and we scanned a QR code to pay $5 for 4 hour parking. There are food trucks on-site, but I would recommend bringing lunch or snacks from home. Plenty of places to sit! We didn't partake in any activities that required tokens since the lines were long, but I believe 1 token is $5. We did partake in the corn pit that was free! It's basically a huge sandbox with corn kernels instead of sand. The kids love it, but I wish an employee was manning it. There's a sign that warns you not to throw kernels, but there were still kids throwing them. One of them hit my eye :) The little one was fine and had a blast, but it can get really crowded and no one's really paying attention to proximity/safety. I would come back on a weekday when it's a little less crowded and to try the corn maze! I bought cute little gourds for $2 each.
