Attention to detail with seasonal locally procured ingredients was fantastic - example, sweet grilled leeks were a highlight and showed up in multiple variations. Delicious courses presented with attention to detail. Was tough to finish everything...rich dishes add up quickly. Our one downside was the music - not a fan of spa music. Irish ballads would've been better. Still, worth a five - a supreme effort.

From the small back deck you can look over this town all the way to the high cliffs that drop into the ocean, creating picturesque views of the orange, red and pink sunset. We arrived to a small sign personally welcoming us. Niall and Darra treated us like family while we stayed at their house and even dined at their table. They were personally acquainted with the entire area and gave us honest recommendations for spending our days there. We were able to see the Cliffs without crowds because of their directions. We then had the perfect dinner of local food at Roadford House where we walked along stonewalls past cows, horses, and sheep to the intimate dining room overlooking pastures. We ended the night by enjoying local music at O'Connor's Pub just a minute walk from the Sea View. We would highly recommend staying at the Sea View for at least a few nights on your trip to Ireland. The guest lounge had a few books on history of the area. There were a few bottles of wine available for purchase on the honor system, which was a nice touch if you wanted to take it along on an evening stroll along the beach. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with most of the ingredients coming out of the kitchen garden. My hubby even had a choice of duck or chicken eggs from the family's own birds!

All five were unbearably hot. There's no air conditioning, and nowhere - not once - do they disclose that. During a heatwave, we were handed tiny plastic desk fans that felt more symbolic than functional. "The heat isn't on," staff said, helpfully pressing buttons on a thermostat that wasn't connected to anything. Performance art, not hospitality. But the heat wasn't the worst part. One bed had exposed staples and metal pins embedded in the headboard - right where someone's head would rest. I took photos. Raised it with management. Their response? "That's not representative." Which is strange, considering every single room we booked had issues. What you're paying for here is a dated property clinging to its past reputation, hoping guests won't look too closely. Tour groups come and go. Independent travelers? We're disposable. The one saving grace: the bar and waitstaff. They were attentive, warm, and clearly doing their best in a place that doesn't deserve them. I tried to resolve this privately. Gave them chances. Gave them time. They offered a token refund and shrugged off everything else. So here's what I'll say to the next traveler considering this place: If you enjoy sweating through the night, sleeping near embedded hardware, and being told your experience didn't happen the way you say it did - book the Dunraven. If not? Stay literally anywhere else.

It's a beautifully decorated, warm friendly house with spacious and comfortable rooms. The location is across the street from restaurants and a great pub (Fitzpatrick's) with pub food and trad music (other pub and eating options within easy walking distance). The breakfast was outstanding, served in a bright dining area with views; and the hosts were gracious and helpful. (Plenty of parking and free wifi.) From now on this will be our first choice for any future visits to Doolin.

This time I went rogue and paid for my own meal and was treated to a delicious braised beef dish and toffee pudding. Best meal I had on the whole trip was from a hotel and I still think about that braised beef. Oh yeah, the view is pretty good if you get a waterside view room. I unfortunately got a view of the roof, but I won't let that deter me from giving this place 5 stars.

We didn't know until after we paid to park that, according to the front desk, the spots out front of the hotel that say 2 hour parking can be ignored and are able to be parked all night. Besides parking, everything else was great. Staff are very nice and we enjoyed our room. The view was also really nice of River Shannon. The hotel is a short walk to King John's castle, St. Mary's Cathedral, The Milk Market, and various bars and food. It's a great place to call home base for a few nights. I'd definitely stay again if visiting Limerick again.

Just not a warm first impression. We were exhausted and starving, and that was a dumb rule. The woman at the front desk was not particularly pleasant, and she was also the bartender. Our room was sub par, cigarette burns in the tub. No extra toilet paper in the room when we ran out. And the broken thermostat was blinking the whole stay, begging for a filter change...gross. The china was also dirty at breakfast. The only pluses I will give to this place: the sitting and dining rooms were decorated well and the OTHER staff (NOT the receptionist/bartender) were pleasant. Dinner and all meals served at Gregans, were prepared with culinary mastery and served with grace and joy from the castle's hosts. So, here's the shocker ...this is not a castle, it's more of a country house/estate but it is warm, cozy, inviting, and just lovely in ways a castle just couldn't be anyway. Fires in the fireplaces, little nooks and corners with comfy chairs and whimsical artwork all throughout. I would've been happy to just meander around the hotel and property for days but there is so much to see and do in the area as well. An absolute must is a Burren tour, you cannot begin to understand or appreciate the terrain in this area without learning about it firsthand. The hotel staff will happily set that up for you, we had our tour with Shane Connelly and he was as the Irish would say, a real character. He did not disappoint, the authority in the area and we enjoyed every bit of teasing he threw at us along the way, which was plentiful and great fun. If you are fragile or thin skinned don't book this one and save the good time for the rest of us! Also to note, there are two cats that live in the hotel and are given free range in specific public areas. They happily doze in the bar by the fire, oversee you playing cards or doing a puzzle and will occasionally enjoy your lap, if invited. So if you don't like cats please don't book. I travelled with someone that is allergic to cats and wasn't bothered at all but that may not be everyone's experience. I found the rescue donkeys, horse and cats to be a perfect addition to a charming property.
