I popped in this service station because my tire pressure light came on and I wanted to be sure I didn't have a slow leak. One of the mechanics came out to greet me and when I told him my problem, he checked all my tires for nails, filled them, checked the hood, the lights, made sure the tire light went off and said I was good to go! "How much do I owe you?" I asked. "My pleasure, no charge," he responded. I was like Whoa! Thanks! That's so nice! He goes, "We just want you to be safe out there! And if you need anything else serviced, keep us in mind." "I will!" Then I felt kind of guilty so I filled up my tank there! It was a few cents higher than most places, but you can't beat the service! In my estimation BP stands for Best People! read more

We took my car here for inspection and then they said it would be $1400 to repair everything that was "wrong" with it. It's a 2014 Subaru so it's not a super old car. I called my dad and he was like ehhh, I feel like they're not being honest. I took my car to the Subie guy and it cost $650 for my repairs and they were so honest they said that the things that needed to be done to pass inspection aren't the same as the things I'm probably going to need to do the next 2 years. And that the extras are things that are crucial to the car- just not right this second. I could look up my manual and see exactly what they were saying. Grove BP just tried to hustle me. In the past I had used this station for different reasons. There was a young man that worked there. He had helped me with a hole in my tire and I had done several inspections there. The last few times I've been there, the lady in the front is very rude, disrespectful and very negative. I was there last week asking about the process for inspection. She began to tell me how they were very busy. I could bring my car in the morning but there are people in front of me and by then there will be more. As I was trying to decide what to do, someone came into the office. When he saw me there, he excused himself. She said, no it was ok and proceeded to talk to him as if I wasn't there. I left and will never return. That was not my first time dealing with her. She has no business talking to customers. In relating my story to others, a few have said she was rude and they would not return also. read more

RUDE. This is not your friendly, local mechanic. Poor communication, lack of transparency, and an overall poor customer experience. They obviously don't care whether or not you support their business again--take your money elsewhere. read more

Rude! I have been to this location for gas and state inspections, they are rude during each encounter. The woman and older man don't deserve your business. They do have a pleasant and helpful young man that works there, unfortunately for him his coworkers are not the same. They do not deserve your business, they have a monopoly in the area, so they don't even try or appreciate their patrons. read more

Disclaimer - I havent been here in years but have been thinking about my experience there today. I took my car here twice in high school for its yearly inspection, since it was walking distance from the house I lived at. They would always fail it for the dumbest, most nitpicky things, and charge me obscene amounts to get it fixed. It was obvious they were trying to take advantage of me as a high school girl - they would get huffy when I would accept the failed inspection and figure something else out (by making a trip to the volvo shop on the south side). Great service. "Small town" feel and reliable, trustworthy individuals. This is our "go to" for all things automotive related.

Never had a problem with quality of work here, but they always seem to take days on end for routine maintenance. An oil change often takes two days. Outside of this, I generally find the employees (perhaps it is one in particular) very rude. You feel like you are bothering them while make an appointment or asking typical questions. This is a walk away from my house, but I'll probably be looking elsewhere now. read more

After speaking with the owner regarding the oversight and poor customer service yesterday the owner was incredibly gracious and apologetic and offered me a very fair (discounted) deal on the remaining service for the inspection. The gentleman owner was really very kind and for his service I am now rating the station much higher. (First Review, Scored a 1:) Incredibly disappointed with the service here. I left my car to be inspected, they charged me $400 for brakes and never inspected it. Two men were INCREDIBLY rude and unapologetic about the mistake. I am appalled by the "customer service" I received here. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND wasting your time or money here. Many other stations to choose from, choose better. read more

If you've followed along, you know I drive a geezer car. Yellowbird (my Ford Escape, which is - wait for it - yellow) now has 210K miles on her, but since I'm a "drive it 'til the wheels fall off" kinda grrl, I do what it takes to keep her on the road, with her wheels firmly attached. I made the mistake of going for an annual inspection to [redacted], a franchise operation that's fine for some things, but JAYZUS do they build that check when presented with an opportunity to do so. [Redacted] rang up a $700 estimate for Yellowbird to pass inspection, for stuff that I knew I could resolve for no more than half that. So I took the "L" on the windshield - you know the one, the sticker that tells the world your car is an abject failure - and asked a geezer-car colleague for a recommendation to a trustworthy shop that kept geezers (and their cars) rolling. He sent me to Grove Ave. was-Exxon-now-BP, where Yellowbird was brought up to code for less than half the $700 I was quoted by [redacted]. A few months later, Yellowbird was exhibiting some truly alarming symptoms, and I was worried that the wheels - or at least the engine - were about to fall off. I hied myself to GABP on a Friday morning in early December, and kept my fingers crossed as the diagnostic was completed. I had budgeted a figure that, based on my research and troubleshooting, took all the symptoms into account, along with a likely solution (runs rough intermittently, particularly in the rain, meaning ignition coils and O2 sensors). The quoted price for the necessary work matched that figure ... and then came in $150 less when the work was completed. This is not a fancy shop, but they have a waiting room with a table (where a person can fire up her Macbook and connect to the Xfinity cloud), and are only a couple blocks from the head of Carytown, with SBUX and Ellwood's ready to let a person settle in for a stretch while waiting for car repairs to be completed. If you get your car here by 7am, you have a better than even chance of getting it back the same day. I've praised other auto repair shops here on Yelp, but each of them managed to let me down later in some way, either due to personnel changes or unwillingness to work on geezer cars without jacking the bill. If you can avoid dealing with Tim, you could have a better experience. We spent around $800 repairing a 2006 Honda then noticed the day after we got it back that the car was due for inspection. So we took it back to be inspected. $482.02 later, the car passed inspection. We weren't given any indication during the process that it would cost so much. Tim was rude during every interaction. We will take our three cars elsewhere in the future. read more

I have been dealing with these people since 1987, and the service has always been wonderful. My husband I and moved seven and a half years ago to Lakeside, but we still return to this service station for the maintenance of both of our cars. The only reason I even give this place a star is its convenience. I will never go back! I took my car in for an inspection and to change my front head light. I specifically told the man that took my keys that if the bill was gonna cost over $100 than they needed to call me! Knowing in my head that it wasn't going to cost that much! I had them change my light bulb before and had the light bulb but I was charged around $20. That was for the labor! This time!!!! I go to pay for my car and the man so rudely tells me $230! I was like WTF! How did the bill get this high! "Oh ma'am, most of this is for labor. We had to take off the whole front fascia off of the car to get to the light bulb." I am not stupid! And yes I am a woman! I have changed my light bulb before. Its a pain. The whole reason I have someone else do it. It takes a few minutes taking the undercarriage of the wheel well off to get to the back side of the bulb. I didn't need to be charged so much in labor for something that didn't need to be done to my car. Even more aggravating is that the rude old man at the desk didn't even want to talk to me. He took my invoice and keys and put them back in the lock box and walked away from me. Who does business like this? NOT ME! Please be careful of this place! read more
