I was very hopeful going into my Grove St facial due to all the positive reviews! The decor is lovely. My estetician was very kind, but the facial felt rushed. I didn't sit with anything on my face for more than a couple minutes. Also, the steaming of my face only lasted five or so minutes which felt fast. Sadly, I broke out badly the next day...so I don't think their products worked well for my skin. (I have normal, but acne prone skin). I wouldn't go back due to the price vs. quality of facial I received. read more

I went to Grove and Kane for the first time 2 months ago. I met with Rachel to go over my current skin situation and how we could improve it. I had a few cystic acne marks that were left over on my cheek that I wanted to diminish. She suggested a PCA peel. We did one that day I met her and a few days later I could already see a difference in my skin. We started with me doing a peel once a month and a regular mask once a month, seeing her every 2 weeks. We are now at the point where I am only doing a peel once a month and my skin is getting so much better! I would highly recommend coming to see these ladies as they are very sweet and helpful. Even if you don't have acne, the PCA peel is great for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, evening skin tone, and much more. There are a couple different ways I could begin this review. Simply because of all the ways Grove and Kane are doing things right. I did the typical yelp/google search when I was looking for a new spot to get facials, waxing and I really wanted to build a relationship with a professional who I could continue to see to improve the condition of my skin. I went to Karen - a little nervous. A lot nervous. She not only met me with a warm smile but an equally impressive resume and genuine desire to help. I knew the moment I sat down and we started talking that she knew what she was doing. She took her time with me. In getting to know me. We hit it off immediately. I don't need a best friend when I get a facial however - I do want to enjoy my time and Karen is the perfect balance of professional and personally engaging. I enjoyed the entire process. I am also NOT a salon goer. Meaning I am pretty picky as I don't want to pay $100 for a fluff appointment yet I want to still feel pampered after doing "work" on my skin. I felt the perfect balance again of being so very relaxed while knowing Karen was gently but effectively working on my skin. One last note - After seeing Karen a couple of times, I was diagnosed with stage four cancer. I have continued to see her - No hair. Skin sensitivity to my chemo and treatments and STILL she meets me with the warmest smile, her knowledge (this time about the skin when going through chemo!) and her relentless passion for making her customers and their skin feel their best. I have also had the pleasure of seeing some of Karen's colleagues and I am equally as happy with their expertise and approach. Take it from me, a former skincare product junkie. This is a fantastic place for a facial and great advice/products for your skin. I went to Karen for a free consultation and facial because my skin felt leathery, bumpy and just unhealthy. I was unable to manage it myself using products I'd find myself or through retail advice at a local retail makeup chain or stores. The Grove and Kane space itself is super modern, hip, clean, simple. The consultation and facial were very informative. Karen told me what was going on every step of the way and gave me lots of tips and information. She recommended a PCA Skincare regimen at the end of our appointment. I went with most of it and have been using the products for a month now. They cost about the same as the Dermalogica, La Roche Posay, Peter Thomas Roth, Lancome products I had used in the past. She even made herself available when I had post-facial questions. BEFORE the appointment, I would normally wear medium to heavy foundation and powder to balance out and hide my skin. Pores, discoloration, etc. AFTER my facial, I haven't worn ANY foundation or powder...that's how good my skin looks!!! And it's been a month since my facial. I wanted to wait until I had seen Karen a few times before writing my review, so I can give you my honest and thorough opinion about Grove and Kane. Karen hands down is the BEST. My best friend and esthetician moved to California last year, and I never thought I'd find a replacement that could compare to her so I stopped looking, until four months ago when my skin was getting a little out of control. Being in my 20's I thought puberty was done harassing me, but late January my skin went from mostly clear (except for a few acne scars from my past) and dewy to dry as a dessert and breaking out. I tried to stay in denial as log as I could stand it, but mid February I hoped on Yelp with the hope of finding someone awesome to help me with my dilemma. I came across Grove and Kane, even though there weren't many reviews (yet) it was close by and had 5 stars. I hopped on their website and scheduled a facial and a brow wax. Anyone who knows me also knows that I don't just let anybody touch my eyebrows! To be honest I wasn't 100% sure I was going to let her do it, but I wanted to meet Karen and check out her eye brow style before making any final decisions. Okay, fast forward to my appointment day. I showed up a few minutes late, because I'm one of those terrible people that has no grasp on time, but she was at the front desk and greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile. My first impression of the spa was that it felt really inviting and refreshing. Everything was nice and organized, it was immaculate and smelled lovely. Karen introduced herself and handed me some paperwork to fill out, it was mostly consent forms and past skin history etc. after filling everything out, she took me back to the treatment area and we sat and talked about my history, treatment, and she answered all the questions I had with great knowledge and detail! This woman knows what she is doing, and that's no lie. The entire facial experience was so relaxing, and I felt like I was talking to someone I had known in a past life. So. I've only had a facial one other time at Gene Juarez. Initially, that was going to be my first stop. Then, I decided to do some research and I found this little gem and paid them a visit! Rachel booked me for Friday she was super sweet and listened to my skin concerns then told me what facials she thought I should consider. We booked then when I had to cancel last minute she was totally cool about it and scheduled me for Saturday. I loved their spot! It's a cute rustic yet modern place. Really clean and professional! Rachel greeted me at the door. I filled out my forms and she went over it with me and checked out my skin. She then suggested I try microdermabrasion and I was so excited! The whole experience was super relaxing. Rachel was so informative and easy to talk to! She made the whole time just fly by and made it so enjoyable. It was a nice getaway from my crazy kids. Afterwards. My skin was flowing. So soft and dewy. Today when I woke up I'm just blown away. My texture has changed overnight. These bumps that have been bothering me... FOREVER. Are gone. Like. ALL GONE. My blackheads which were a major concern for me too are probably.. Cut in half. I have many many many small blackheads around my mouth. This was from one session! I'm blown away! I was totally not expecting that. I was expecting to have a few sessions and have it improve over time. This is ridiculous! I had to write this review and just rave.
