This unassuming shop in a strip mall has wonderful, gentle, and effective facial service. I found Glow Cosmetics and Spa by Yelp, having walked by it many times and even purchased cosmetics here once, but never realized they also offer facials. I made an online reservation on their website, it was easy and convenient. The day before a reminder text confirming the appointment is also sent. Arriving at the shop and I met Crystal. She welcomed me with offer of tea, coffee, or water, and I filled out a solid intake form so that my care could be customized for any health conditions, allergies, or life phase (e.g. pregnancy, perimenopause). The waiting area is towards the back, neat and welcoming. Krystal looked over my form and recommended the treatments that would fulfill my needs and then we start treatment. The treatment room is elegant and so clean. The bed is heated and I was instantly comfortable. Krystal is really good at understanding how much talking I wanted and quietly described what she was doing at each phase. I had the Yonka facial which was really gentle and only ever so mildly scented, meaning that the scents come from the formulation of herbal ingredients and not added. It was so gentle throughout both in the physical force used to apply products and the feeling of products. The massage, though, was also amazing. I had a light lymphatic drainage on my face and neck, then head and neck and shoulder and arms were well kneaded. My skin was glowing and I felt so relaxed afterwards. I plan on returning regularly. They have a lot of more interesting treatments like oxygen facials. I don't have a reference point for other services to gauge their pricing. The facial itself is priced quite reasonably. I went to checkout this store since they are specialized in Japanese brands. The new location is big, organized and welcoming. All staff are bilingual and very helpful. This is the best in-store experience I have ever had!! Their brand collection is nice!! IMO, the best brands there are Cle De Peau, Synactif, Benefique and Kose Sekkisei and I have tried all products from these 4 brands. Here are my picks under each: Cle De Peau: Concealer (Instyle Best Buy Award winner) and highlighter. Le serum is excellent!! Synactif: Facial soap (rich foam with awesome scent and last 1.5x than other cleansers) Benefique: The full line, love the cold & warm effect Kose Sekkisei: can't go wrong with their lotion/toner, Kose has been selling it for 30+years!! The store also offers different reward program than cosmetic stores, you can redeem their points for services like facial, makeover or product samples. For beauty addict like me, I can easily score one complimentary facial (real one in a treatment room with facial massage+ mask) by single purchase. Since they are authorized Shiseido dealer, the holiday kit and gift with purchase are always different (actually BETTER) than what you would see in department stores like Nordstrom and Macys. If you are not into buying products, the store offer facial using Shiseido and Cle De Peau products for a fee. You can see the results yourself before picking any products to take home!! Some staff are licensed estheticians and they did a great job on my previous facials! I highly recommend to visit this store if you want to try Japanese skincare/makeup. I was so pleased with my facial by Kris today. I called to see if there was a last minute opening for a facial, I was able to go in shortly. Once I got there, I was greeted by Kris. She helped me decide what facial would be best for my skin because I did not have the best skincare knowledge. She recommend the Synactif facial to reduce the appearance of my dark circles and help to even out my complexion. After the 60 minute facial, I saw results Immediately!!! My face was glowing and the dark circles under my eyes were gone. Additionally, I also picked up a Shiseido sun screen recommend by Kris. I've always been a fan of their services here. All the ladies do such a nice job on facials. However, be prepared of what type of service you ask for in regards to facial. There are several types. There is this regular skin care versus the other kind as prices ranges also change dramatically. Do you want the LED light to get rid of wrinkles and improve elasticity of your skin? Should you try all? As you ponder, try to listen to what the analysis result is because they will tell you and give you advise. This is where you have to realize what results you want. For me, The Yonka skin care has always been my favorite because I've used it for many years, I knew what kind of results I was going to get and, I love what it does for my skin. However, you don't have to choose this unless you really want to experience it. I vouch for Yonka skin care. It truly is a wonderful product made in France. Everything about it is delicious and SO good. The real update is doing the combo of Yonka, microdermabrasion and adding on the LED light. This is a first class combo I tried yesterday. Don't get me wrong I still do my regular home regimen but I thought I deserve to treat myself to this. Besides, I rarely do this especially around this time of year - when summer is over due to lots of sun exposures. I made the appointment last week so, it would be lame If I decided not to go for it. Now, the Microderm, I've done many times but first time with the LED light. Altogether, creates an instant improvement on discolorations of skin tone and eradicating some obvious wrinkles, sun damages which, I got a whole lot this past summer. After the analysis of Patti, I listened carefully and have a better understanding on how to prevent my skin from the sun. Lots of serum and SPF she said. Also, I'm aging as well so it is also time to think about wearing hats here and there. Patti did an amazing job with the microdermabrasion, the massaging of the face, around the eyes, cheeks and neck was so amazing. So the whole facial consist of and step by step: 1. Cleansing with massage of pressure points on my face 2. Microdermabrasion 3. Rinse with massage and extractions of blackheads, etc. (your choice) 4. Peeling (hyaluronic acid peeling) for 1 min 5. Rinse with massage then 6. LED light for 10 mins. 7. Rinse 8. Cooling mask for 5 mins. 9. Rinse with massage and finally, serum and SPF. Done! One whole hour of of this. The most challenging part is staying still and focused. I can't ever sit still! A big problem-O for most of us I think. I almost didn't make it! I had to meditate through out this whole session. Well, I hope this review was insightful - not just from this particular spa place but pretty much for all aspects of taking care of ourselves. I'm a true believer of self-care. Last week I went to see Patty to get her opinion on what to do about the little defects one gets on their face over time. I am 72 and had some skin tags and also visible corpuscles on my chin and nose area. Patty took out a laser-pen device and dealt with those issues, but it will be an on-going treatment and I will need to see her again when I get back to Seattle. Thus far, the areas she treated are looking much better. It all healed well in about 3 days. I have dealt with Patty regarding my oily skin issue for over 20 yrs. and I trust her implicitly. I believe there has been a location change. They are now located on the outside and right next to the Ranch 99 market. I walked in one day to see what they have to offer. The staff followed me around even though I said I wanted to browse around myself. I tried on some of the make up on my hand (The products are placed on a display as samples), to test their durability and pigmentation. However, the staff called me out and said" Please do not try it on your hand, because your hands have germs. If you want to try it on, we can try it on your face." This was extremely rude. I then asked if I can use their make up remover sample to remove what I have on my hand, they declined and gave me hand sanitizer instead. Wow. read more

I did plenty of research before finding this place. I trust Yelp reviews as well. I have had 4 or 5 facials (all different types) and I can say I have enjoyed all of them. I think my favorite is the Yonka and Synactif. The staff is so nice and very professional. They text you the day before to confirm you are still on the books. The rooms and bathrooms are exceptionally clean, even having a hair brush and perfume to use afterwards. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. I had a recent back surgery so I need multiple bolsters/pillows under my knees and they happily accommodate me. I purchased the facial package and then ended up also purchasing the HiFu add on. I go in about every 6 weeks and look forward to it. I usually fall asleep. I also like that they can sense if you want to know about the process or just want to be quiet and relax. I also like that they have not pressured me to purchase any face products. I made it clear when I started that I use Rodan + Fields and they have not tried to sway me to their product(s) line. They did give me a nice red Shiseido make up bag on my first visit and I still use it all the time. I have had a few different estheticians work on me and I enjoy them all. The facials are around $170 each and I always tip $50 cash. If you purchase the multiple package, you save enough money to pay for the tips. read more

My wife always insists we drive out to Edmonds to Glow Cosmetics because they have more Shiseido products than they have in the department stores downtown. She always buys cle de peau (?) products and often receives a free gift, which she proudly shows me whenever we go. I like the fact that it's right next to the supermarket so I can go wander the aisles while my wife does her thing at Glow. It's a nice shop and my wife likes their personal touch. Patti went above and beyond providing personal service! She was the only permanent makeup artist to pencil brows on my face that looked natural and attractive for my coloring and face shape! She gave me a consultation that was thorough. She provided information about the process and outcomes, and concerns. She took time to show and explain the varied processes and results in her portfolio. She gave me an enormous amount of her time! She is a true professional, who isn't just looking for another sell, but wants a satisfied customer! I did not have the perm makeup because I have keratoid healing. However, if you are seeking permanent makeup in the greater Seattle area I suggest you see Patti before you go elsewhere! She also sells regular makeup and provides makeup services. Through consulting with her about possible perm. makeup I discovered her brow pencils are much more natural looking and stay on, unlike the Department store brand I used.
