This was a delightful coffee shop near the main city square. Priding itself on being vegan and organic, I indulged in a latte w cardamom maple syrup. The coffee was well roasted and the syrup was a delicious blend. I think I would have enjoyed it just a little more w a heavier milk product like 2% or whole. But it was a nice change from the standard coffee options. They have free wifi, plentiful seating and a steady stream of customers on a weekday morning. read more

We really liked the epic coffee shop although our cafe latte was lukewarm instead of preferred steaming hot! It's one thing if one orders a cold coffee but one orders a hot it should be served nice and hot. Not sure if staff knows the proper way to put out a hot latte. It almost was more like a cappuccino. The coffee flavor was pretty tasty. We were excited they had choices of milk to be offered, i.e. almond, coconut, etc. If you're looking for their Kind Bread Co. baked goods maybe it would be better to come morning rather than an afternoon. We came in 4:30ish and the bakery case was almost cleaned out. Lotsa young adults were here and many studying either solely or in groups. They have all types of seating from tables and chairs to comfy chairs plus living room type furniture. Music piped throughout all the rooms which was really nice. We skipped food as we were not aware they had a wood fired oven for yummy lunches and we had already eaten. Pretty awesome to find such a wonderful coffee shop added to downtown to complement all the other great spots in the area!! We were staying in Las Cruces for the night and called in an order for pick up. Their healthier options caught my eye. I got an Acai bowl, with Mango, kiwi and strawberry and it was just what I needed after hours of sitting in the car. We ordered the Nachos and pizza too. The pizza was a favorite, great bite on the crust and the sauce is just right. Some pizza places put way too much sauce. I was disappointed when we got back to the hotel and noticed I didn't get salsa with the nachos as it comes with it and the jalapeños on the side I had asked for. read more

We discovered this shop last year while on a visit to las cruces, after discovering a great bookstore across the street. A perfect match, indeed! They make their syrups in house, and are VERY particular about what they serve. The orange cinnamon latte is delicious, and the cardamom latte is also lovely. They have food, beer and wine, too. Ambience is perfect for conversation but also for sitting and working. We come every time we are in the state. read more

Love this place! I consider myself a bit of a coffee snob and think that they have the best drinks in town, by far. The ambiance was fantastic, and what I immediately noticed is that the staff greets you as you walk in the door. That matters a lot and changes the vibe of an establishment and I wish all places in town realized how important that is. I've had the croissant, the acai bowls, and was happy with both. I think they did a great job of decorating and choosing menu selections. This is the downtown coffeeshop that we have needed for years. They did it right. read more

Very cool space with a comfortable vibe and very tasty wood oven pizzas, salads and more. There seems to be a misconception in town that Grounded is all vegan. Not true! Now I very much appreciate vegan food, and Grounded does have some great vegan options, but it also has inventive and good vegetarian and meat dishes. The pizza crusts have a very pleasing chew to them. The staff is great, prices seem reasonable, really a stellar addition to Las Cruces. I have two suggestions for making the restaurant even better. First, although the food options are not vegan, the coffee offerings oddly are. Why draw that line and exclude customers who prefer dairy with their lattes? The other, put some signs up to customers to be respectful of other customers at busy times of the day and choose tables that fit their group size. Several single people were plunked down with computers at lunchtime taking up an entire table for four people or more while big groups crowded around small tables with their food. It is very rare that I leave a review for a place these days - over the years "reviews" have gotten out of hand and some are fake and people base their decisions totally off of reviews, don't get me wrong sometimes I'll look at reviews but I do try to make an effort to just try places for myself. A friend and I recently visited Las Cruces from the east coast and we were attracted to this local shop because of the Acai bowls - we love em. Long story short, we went back to Grounded every day while we were there - one of the best coffee shops we have been to...maybe the best. The cold brew is fantastic, the Acai bowls are amazing, the bagels are great and the pizza is amazing especially for a coffee shop! Lots of dietary options as well (gluten free, non-dairy, etc etc). The staff was super friendly along with everyone else in there, you can sit in a spacious indoor dining area, or a nice outdoor seating area. Honestly....what else could you ask for in a coffee shop? No other coffee shop I have ever been do has had this type of "vibe", with a wide variety of food options, and a unique set of coffee offerings. Can't wait to come back to NM....will definitely come back to Grounded!! read more

THE BEST COFFEE SHOP IN AMERICA. WRITTEN BY THE WORST AND BEST CUSTOMER. I ordered a simple coffee. After half an hour, I was still waiting. What good is a coffee shop that can't make coffee? The guy who takes orders seemed a bit snarky at first. I asked for coffee, and he said, in a bit of a sarcastic tone, "You mean a POUR OVER?" It took a half hour to get my cup. But then life, and my experience of it, took a turn, as it often does. I met the owner, Tony. Owners are almost NEVER in their coffee shops. Employees do everything. But Tony was there. He turned out to be a really nice guy. I did not want to complain to him. We talked for a while and then he asked how my coffee was. I said it tasted great but took a long time - half an hour. He apologized profusely and explained they are short-staffed due to a winter storm blowing through town. And he immediately offered me another cup. I stopped feeling so grumpy and the young man at the counter came over to bring me my second cup. He was really nice after all. I learned a lesson. Don't jump to conclusions. Give people a chance. Most people are good at heart. read more

Pizza was as thin as a sheet of paper, very floppy. Not flavorful, not filling in the least. Had to serve our own water, get our own napkins and utensils, and get up to get our own food like at a fast food restaurant where you don't leave a tip. Had to bus our own dishes and trash. They claim to be a plant based location, but a lot of their products have dairy and I was told that they cannot use vegan cheese on their pizzas either. Normally, I love coming here. But a couple weeks ago, being pregnant and craving an Alma bowl, I decided to waddle over to Grounded after I haven't been out of the house in a couple months. When I got to the counter, the girl taking my order kept repeating "Anything else" like some McDonalds worker. I just let it slide but honestly didn't put a tip. When she asked for my name I very clearly said 'Ally', she didn't ask for a clarification just waved me off- eager to finish the sale. Disappointed but rather famished I just went to sit down with my book, not looking for issues. I saw a few people trickle in and out, and orders being fulfilled for others but not mine. I heard an Alma bowl being called but some lady next to me got up and came back with it- so must not have been mine. It had been 40 minutes, and I knew sometimes it takes time but I was getting antsy- and a bit irritated... my baby was hungry. I just decided I didn't want the trouble, I just wanted to feed my baby- and walked up to the counter for a refund. The man disclosed that they tried calling both my name and an Alma bowl multiple times, as he pointed to a 3/4 melted Alma bowl on the counter. I was so disappointed. I said you never once called my name otherwise I would have been right here. He clarified "well after a couple times, we figured that might not have been your name and just called for an Alma bowl." I just sighed and asked for a refund. He said "since we called your name we can only refund you a gift card" that's total crap. "You just said you didn't think you had my name right, I don't want issues, I just want my money back." I don't pull the pregnancy card often and in this instance I didn't want to make a scene- I seriously just wanted to feed my baby before I got hysterical. He walked to the back and out came another girl who didn't speak a word to me and then after a few clicks told me the money should be back in my account after 24 hours. Why was that so difficult? Poor customer service for okay food... way to run another great coffee shop into the ground, grounded. I'm pretty disappointed. I was too tired to give attitude otherwise I would have. I can't help that I crave acai bowls- guess I'll just have to go to Keva Juice or somewhere else from now on so I don't have to deal with this anymore. read more
