I currently have eyesight in my left eye because of her care and expertise when I endured a traumatic hyphema, which would have resulted in permanent blindness had she not been honest with me and was able to see me on an emergency status. I know folks from all over the Central Valley and the Sierra Foothills (and myself a Merced native living in the Bay Area!) who make the drive to their office because of the wonderful, personal care they provide. (If you love food like I do, Dr. Lee & Dr. Matt have restaurant recommendations from all over the country at the ready!) I always receive a call when my glasses are ready after they've been checked by their staff. Just recently, I needed a new prescription for my glasses. Decided just to go with same frame, maybe different color. When they found it was discontinued, Cindy sourced similar styles and had them ready for me to try. I found one that was perfect (and more hip than my old ones!) As always, I was extremely pleased with their prompt & personal service. They are also very active in the community & sincerely care about their patients like friends & neighbors. They volunteer to provide free eye exams at local schools. Dr. Matt has served as clinic instructor at UC Davis, he guest lectures at UC Merced (and other schools I believe), and is on call to advise & teach at Mercy Hospital. They are very serious about giving back to the community. I also recommend them if you need a second opinion. My friend's father had an issue that his other doctor couldn't figure out. He came to Dr. Lee who was able to diagnose it immediately and provided him the appropriate course of action and the pros/cons of waiting or proceeding with treatment, so that he could make an informed decision. Another friend whose young child had an eye turn, said their opthamologist (a surgeon) not surprisingly said that the child needed to undergo multiple surgeries over the next several years. They of course were concerned about subjecting their child to this. They went to Dr. Lee who said that his young patients have successfully overcome the same issue without a barrage of surgeries (or an eye patch) - instead correcting it in a way that strengthens the eye muscles and allows proper brain & nerve development, especially important in young children. That approach gave them much welcomed peace of mind. I am extremely happy being under their care. I have nothing but compliments for their entire team.

Problem is, when I'm not wearing my lenses, my vision degenerates by the hour, due to my myopia and astigmatism, which means my vision is not very stable. However, Dr. Chen, even though he is not the original doctor to prescribe my lenses, was able to "estimate" a workable prescription for me, and they work great! I greatly appreciate my eyeglasses and use them often. He also recommended changes to my eye-health (switching to soft) which has been hard for me, but at least I've listened. I'm pretty stubborn, but if you get me to change my mind, that's saying something. I've since moved back to the Bay Area, and have gotten eye-care at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, but that experience was sub-par.

Zero wait time. This office runs like a well oiled machine. Very organized and clean and friendly plus they look for ways to save you money. Took in 2 pairs of my year old glasses that I didn't take very good care of that were stretched out to be fitted. They did that right away and handed back clean and tight. I found the employees here to be rude, less than helpful, they flat out even lied to me! The lady I spoke with went to another room, came back and said these were not Rx able. I disagreed, even showed her the Rx on the Maui Jim site. She left again and told me they called Maui Jim and they said this Frame was not Rx able. I am waiting in the lobby for my 9:15 appointment, only to be told the wait is at least an hour…read more The lobby is full, over 20 people waiting. The people at the front desk acting as if this is the norm. And more people coming in all the time. SMH. I wish I could discreetly take a picture. I finally got taken into another room where my eyes were dilated, that took about five minutes, then another 10 minute wait; which is normal, I can't fault them for that. Then I did a test which took about five minutes. Afterward I was put back in the waiting room for five minutes. Finally I saw the doctor himself for about 5 minutes I was completely done about 10:15. However, I spent a minimum of 30 minutes waiting in the lobby then another 5 to 10 minutes waiting to go into rooms to be seen by the doctor or technician. my total time actually being seen or tested was maybe 20 minutes. And as I stated, I was there for an hour. I was told by one of the technicians that they had three doctors working on Friday as opposed to four, but that could just change with rotation so any day of the week could be equally as busy as Friday.
