I was referred to Dr. Grossman by daughter's pediatrician. Her previous was not in alignment with the goals so I need a new neurologist. She has epilepsy and was having seizure frequently. Absolutely horrible. He at first upon initial appointment seems very eager to help. Full of empathy solution, suggestions and compassion. Once he gains your trust and money he flips the cards. On second visit. Seemed like we were an inconvenience and didn't have time to deal with us. He is arrogant and believes "I'm the doctor, do as I say!" He doesnt listen sends you for several exams, and has no knowledge of the reports. He wanted to send us for testing again! Whe. I said we completed these. I'm not sure why All the bad reviews. I am an African American women and I was referred to Dr. Grossman by a pediatrician that I now bring my son to because I had so much issues with his last doctor I'm assuming because we live in a predominantly black neighborhood in Brooklyn. So yes I do travel all the way to Long Island for both doctors. Now Dr. Grossman answered all my questions and concerns. Of course I was very skeptical about putting my son on any form of medication it took me a whole entire month to put him on meds. But I have to say I see a big improvement in him. He's more focused more alert and is communicating more verbally. Now I have a different outlook on meds. Not saying every child with some form of disability needs to be on them but for some, meds are definitely necessary. And I am more at ease knowing that my son has a doctor that truly cares about his mental state. Thank you for everything Dr. Grossman you have truly changed both my son and I lives. It's sad to see all these negative reviews when I feel that this man has more than saved my child's life and my sanity. Since we started seeing Dr. Grossman earlier this year, what I believed to be true of my son ended up being a reality for us. After testing and observation, my son was diagnosed with ADHD and Tourette's syndrome. He literally was not able to function on a day-to-day basis, and missed a huge chunk of Kindergarten from not being able to adjust to going. He cried, he kicked, he was violent and, as sad as this is to say as a mother, he scared me. Dr Grossman patched him up and brought my son back to me. He was very particular about what medication was right for him and we went through several before finding one that kept his anger at bay while addressing his tics without him becoming an empty shell. Now I have a 6 year old who is so beautifully balanced and doing great at school. And I owe it all to Dr. Grossman. I know a lot of people have issues with his bedside manner. I was afraid I would, too. But his personality works well for my son. He respects him and listens and keeps him in line. Dr.Grossmann is also a behavioral specialist and has many ways to help a parent address poorly behaved children. I visit his website often and refer to his guides in my every-day parenting. Not to mention we have never waited longer than 10 minutes in the waiting room. We are always seen in a timely manner, and all of my needs and concerns are met and answered. If you're looking for a dispensary, you found your guy. If you're looking for a human being who actually cares about the welfare of your child, run the other way. To say that Dr. Grossman has "bad bedside manner" would be a gross understatement. I found him to be extremely arrogant and condescending. When I asked if I could have the paperwork from all of the EXTENSIVE and uncomfortable testing he had performed on my daughter to pass on to her school, I was told that "I didn't need it. Just come here, and I will give you the prescriptions. The school doesn't need to know anything." FYI, my daughter is flourishing, and does not need medication. I'm not against it, however, this is a personal choice. He actually told my 9 year old daughter on OUR FIRST VISIT, even before any testing for ADHD, that he was going to give her medicine that would FIX her. Think about that! I tried reaching out for the paperwork again, and was told that if Dr. Grossman would "allow" it to be released to me, I would need to pay $.75 per page. They also claimed that it was sent over to my pediatrician, but they never received it, and were also unable to access anyone at the office to send the files. Now I'm back at square one again. I need to drag my daughter through all the rigorous testing again, and spend more time, energy and money. This man should seriously be under investigation... Not sure what the deal is with the negative posts but I must highly disagree with them. I brought my son to Dr. Grossman (after being high recommended by our pediatricians) to be evaluated if he had ADD and he was quite thorough and professional in his examination and evaluation. He returned my calls promptly and was straight to the point. Contrary to what some other posters have said here, he was against putting my son on meds and discussed other options. People, you don't 'cure' things like ADD, ADHD etc. You 'treat it". Some physicians are just better than others at it. I think the problem with parents nowadays is that they 'research' things on the internet before they meet with doctors thinking they know everything. Grossman? More like GROSS mannnn!!! I went for a test for my turrets that I grew out of. One was a EEG and the other was a test was on a computer that letters on a screen changed every .001 of a second and had to press the space bar when the letter x came on which is an impossible task for dr grossman too unless he has some super powers I don't know about. So he said I had some disorder which I clearly didn't so he can make money off of medicating me. He tried to push medication on to me and was writing a perscription before my parents could even tell him that they didn't want me medicated. He is not a doctor but a legal pharmaceutical drug dealer as one other person put it on g()()gle reviews. I can't believe I spent over $200 in co-pay money alone to see this man. But a love for one's child will make you go to the end of the Earth and back to help them if you can. The first visit was as short as you could possible imagine. He made no eye contact, but read quickly off of a sheet of paper (without allowing for a reply) for ADHD symptoms and at the very end asked if this was my child to which I replied yes. That was it for the visit. After that three more office visits for three separate tests which the office claimed they could not schedule on the same day for insurance reasons. They took a $40 co-pay each time. During one visit, I had to come in for a fifteen minute computer test alone. The follow-up visit was nothing short of depressing and I felt a sense of despair. He not only nonchalantly diagnosed my child with ADHD but automatically said to put him on Adderall. That seems to be his drug of choice. No if's and's or but's about it - when I asked if medication was really necessary he told me then he couldn't help me. When I asked about another alternative avenue, he sucked his teeth, rolled his eyes with his body already half way out the door and fumed "then go find a psychologist that can help you with that". Thanks, "Dr" Grossman, for taking my insurance money, wasting my time and giving me absolutely no hope. I will continue to try to help my child and not drug him...this man himself looks and acts like he sniffs coke on a daily basis! I brought my daughter to Dr. Grossman to be evaluated for ADD and anxiety and he was extremely thorough and professional. My son had seizure which last longer than 1-2 hours. This doctor was rude. I was looking for my sons history in my cell phone, and he told me stop google on my phone. I was like whatever, because he was the only doctor can take my son on that day. Without any test, he told me I have to give my son the medication for 2 years. Horrible staff. They constantly overbook causing patients to wait well over what their scheduled appointment was supposed to be. Not only that, but they are constantly losing paperwork. Plus it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach them by telephone. Everything has to be sent in by email which, surprise surprise, they claim never receiving. If you try pressing the button to talk to an actual individual, it says the extension cannot be reached. Also, they tend to cancel appointments on you if they are too late in the day. If you can't keep those appointments, don't bother giving that time as an options. As for the doctor himself. He is very condescending and rude. He doesn't listen and he doesn't like, if we ask him any question. I would never ever recommend this guy. Dr. Grossman is a terrible doctor. First, the staff speaks to you through email, which I find problematic. During my initial visit, Dr. Grossman was short, curt and somewhat arrogant. In scheduling an MRI for my Autistic, Non verbal daughter, the staff informed that they could not do the procedure and that it was my responsibility to find a hospital to do it on my own. The staff gave no referrals or any viable solutions to make the situation a little better -NOTHING! I had to ask them to call me direct instead of having a discussion through email. Dr. Grossman is very rough with his child-patients. He is not forthcoming with information about medicines or changes in medication. He permits (encourages?) his office to be run poorly. They do NOT answer the phone. They do NOT respond to messages. They insist that you use e-mail (insecure) for just about ALL communication and do not respond even to that in a reasonable amount of time. He WILL allow you to run out of medication if HE does not have an appointment within his time frame. Yes, listen to what people say. And listen carefully. The only way I would recommend this man to anyone is if he had the cure to Cancer AND AIDS - both. But wait, if he had the cure for Cancer and AIDS, he wouldn't have to actually deal with people! He'd be somewhere in a corner laboratory---which is exactly where he belongs. I don't care how smart he is, a pediatric health professional who is dealing with children and parents who already have emotional sensitivities and challenges do NOT need a scientist. They need a professional who is well-rounded and is able to communicate. You've already heard that he is rude, condescending, obnoxious, refuses to answer questions, yells at both staff AND patients. But I was extremely put off by the fact that after our first visit when he interviewed my son and I, and after repeated return visits for tests and blood work, he asked every same question that he asked the first time (no, he did not take notes - Nothing was in our file except test results) and was upset with our answers which were the same as our first visit (ie. My son had to return to boarding school by a certain date--which during the first visit was fine, but NOW it was not). When I say 'upset' I don't mean "Oh, that will not work." I mean, "What do you mean, he's going back to boarding school! How in the world will I monitor him??? What kind of treatment do you think I can give him if I can't monitor him???!!!" Well, I told you when he'd return during the year and you said it was ok, uh, now it's not.....?) "Has he ever been on Adderall?" "YES, I told you that the first time." But WAIT, you didn't take any notes the first time did you?! This man kept belittling my son by yelling that he's grown and immature. Ok. I KNOW this along with a myriad of other issues. That's why we travel from the north side of Queens to Long Island seeking help and advice. A 17 year old ADHD kid is not "grown" and fully emancipated. He's grown! Should have read the reviews before going there. Dr. Gross man indeed rude & arrogant. His office is filthy & they parking was horrendous. Waiting a 1/2 hour to see the MD for 5 min. His secretary interrupted after 1 min to say there were 4 pts waiting as if we didnt matter (not considering we waited to see him too).He sped through his exam like we were on a factory assembly line. Without knowing my son or even evaluating him- he threw a diagnosis at us within 3 min of meeting us. When I asked what that was he would not answer- instead told me to look at his website & read about it. So why do I need him then? When asked if he wanted to look at documents from previous exams he refused basically disregarding the other healthcare professional cuz this guy clearly thinks way too highly of himself. He was even condescending to his staff. And told us he needed at least 4 visits to officially diagnose because obviously this guy's sole motivation is money. Not matter if he is intelligent-He needs to take some lessons on being a human being. He lacks compassion. He does not think about these children with his heart but with his pocket. Save yourself a trip. The office is filthy and the care is substandard. It is a puppy mill for children. An hour long eeg was administered in what was undoubtedly the supply closet. The room contained a huge open sharps container and two bags of soiled laundry lying on the floor. It was apparent during our follow up appointment that Dr. Grossman was reviewing the results of my daughter's test for the first time in front of us. When I asked him to expound on the results and whether further testing would be required, he simply said he would have to speak to the radiologist. When my concerned husband called to speak to him the next day, his reply was I already spoke to your wife. I took my son to see Dr. Grossman for a consultation/evaluation. Although I agreed with Dr. Grossman's medical assessment/advice, his professionalism left much to be desired. He was very unapproachable / not welcoming/ unfriendly e.g. didn't say hello to my son upon meeting him, spoke shortly to me throughout. He was very rude e.g. cutting me off several times as I tried to to answer his questions (apparently he just wanted "yes/no" answers and didn't care for me to elaborate or illustrate a point in the least bit. To top this all off, he was very judgemental e.g. telling me, after having met me and my child for all of max 10 minutes, that my son's minor speech delay may possibly also stem from him being spoiled by me. (My 3-year old son was barely misbehaving during this visit to a doctor's office.) He insincerely apologized quickly after I pointed out his rudeness but the damage was done. He even had the audacity to suggest that we come back in a few months for a follow-up. Ha! oblivious... And last but not least, his office specialized in pediatrics. Wow, what an arrogant, presumptive, egotistical man. He walked in and said after seeing that we had been referred by my son's school, 'oh so let me guess, your son cant' sit still, is inpatient etc'... He literally never asked us a question or our opinion, he just put words in our mouth, was rushed and didn't get us a chance to speak, and threatened to put my 5 year old daughter in the corner if she didn't stop swinging her legs (and she wasn't even the patient!). He made my child cry, made me feel degraded and frustrated and completely unheard, and to top it off, asked for 5 seperate follow up appts before he could diagnose my son, but somehow was ok to send a letter to my son's pediatrician the next day diagnosing him with ADHD and stating on the report repeated false information. He failed to mention my son's many medication allergies (and wrote 'none' under allergies), and said 'the parents reported' several times on stuff we had never told him! I think he has a standard letter he sends out about all kids regardless of testing and he literally didn't give us a chance to speak. Dr Grossman is an AMAZING person and an EVEN BETTER doctor. He's not there to be your friend he's a neurologist and an extremely good one. I'm 21 years old I've been going seeing him since I was 17 with ADHD and just recently developed seizures. He saves peoples lives on a daily basis and your upset he doesn't smile and ask you how your day is when he walks in the room? - drug pusher? absolutely NOT. I've been on multiple medications he would not refill them with out me going to see him every month nor would he refill them without follow up blood work checking all my levels on each medication. Every time I sit down with him were laughing and i leave smiling and feeling better and more secure about my health. I also work in a Pediatricians office where most of the doctors have a similar personality to Dr. Grossman. This doctor is arrogant and has no respect for people! I have never been in a doctor's office where I had to wait 20 minutes to be called in and then wait another 20 minutes to be seen by a rude doctor. This no-class man actually asked me what I wanted from him, I said to him, To Help My Son! If I were not a professional woman I would have cursed him the hell out! Besides waiting almost an hour to endure his rudeness, his office chairs in the waiting room were torn and badly abused. I felt like I was in a community clinic. Of course Grossman's attitude did not help at all, in fact his nasty attitude got me more angry! This man sat with my husband and me for about 10 minutes, shooting out a list of tests my son needed to have done for a diagnosis. No apologies for his nastiness, his lateness, nor did he thank us for coming or give us a friendly good-bye; he just walked out of the office without saying a pleasant word and he went into another office where other patients were waiting for as long as we did.
