I accompanied my partner to this office in June, 2025. Upon entering the waiting room, we were greeted by a dog running up to us and angrily barking at us. The receptionist removed the dog. Surprised, I asked why she'd brought her dog to work, she said it wasn't her dog- that she'd never bring a dog to the office. I sensed that she wasn't happy about being responsible for the animal. l'd give this "doctor" a neg.10 if it were an option! He ignored serious symptoms my partner has been having. Some VERY serious symptoms in the past 3 months. Complaints of extremely low energy, weakness and pain in arms, loss of dexterity in right hand, elbows shoulders, lower spine, right side, legs, frequent (every 2 hours) urination, hearing loss, were all ignored even when I pointed out that many of these symptoms are associated with some serious diseases! For several years he has had severe subcutaneous hemorrhaging and bruising all along his forearms from the slightest impact. Markings so black, blue,and purple, that at first glance look like Rorschach tattoos and don't go away! My partner sees Koo 3-4x/year for routine health checks. How could he have missed the bruising on his arms? Koo's response was to prescribe prednisone for inflammation. When I asked about referral for further evaluation i.e. MRI, kidney function test? other tests? even asked if PT could help with weakness arms. legs, etc. Koo wrote "PT" on a prescription pad! Not even a referral for bloodwork! The response was a smile, a comment that I am a "tough lady" aka difficult! On July 14, 2025, my partner collapsed and was rushed to Montefiore Nyack Hospital, where he remained for 11 days having been diagnosed with multiple myeloma!! Hallmark sign: elevated Ca in the blood!~ And that bruising/subcutaneous hemorrhaging, btw, is a symptom of multiple myeloma as well! Koo missed all the hallmarks! And he never followed up with a phone call to see how his patient of 20+ years was feeling! My partner has had radiation therapy, is now in a nursing rehab facility. He is extremely weak and will be receiving chemotherapy weekly for at least a year if not longer. I can't help but think that symptoms didn'thave to get this severe. Had this been picked up a year or two ago or even a few months ago, he wouldn't have gotten as weak and as ill as he is now! I wouldn't recommend this "doctor" to anyone-not even for a common cold! read more

Dr. Koo has been my PCP for over 10 years and he's always been very kind and straightforward with me. He's very personable and is on top of the vaccinations and other things I need. I've always gotten my results in a couple of days and never had to go anywhere else because he was out of stock of anything. Receptionist is legit crazy and rude. Liked the Dr at first. Went in because my boyfriend has been experiencing stomach pains over the course of a year that was just getting worse. Dr. Koo reccomended we have a sonogram done. We did that. Over a month passes and the Dr never called us about the results, we assumed everything was fine. Until he had another episode which was worse than all the others, I had to rush him to the emgency room. Went to LIJ. They did an xray and gave him pain meds and said it must be an ulscer, sent us home. We followed up at Dr. Koo's office the very next day. DR. KOO THEN FOR THE FIRST TIME OPENED THE RESULTS FROM THE SONO HE DID OVER A MONTH AGO AND SAID "OH YOU HAVE A GALLSTONE" My boyfriend had to go back to the hospital and have surgery to remove his gallbladder. When I asked the receptionist why we never received a phone call to go over his sono results her answer was "I have been very busy and behind." UNACCEPTABLE. read more

I am quite skeptical when it comes to the quality of doctors who focus on internal medicine, especially since I've had two bad experiences due to inaccurate billing codes and dishonest billing (one being a doctor who I still have respect for and one being Dr. Ronald Fagan). Usually problems don't arise in doctors offices until insurance gets into the picture. Nonetheless, my first visit with Dr. Koo was generally good. Dr. Koo personally practices the usual procedures for a check-up (weight, height, blood pressure, eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth, lungs, pulse rate). He checks your pulse rate by placing two fingers over your wrist, a traditional pulse diagnosis. But what amazed me most was his skill with the needle, possibly comparable to an awesome nurse who used to take my blood when I was still with my loving pediatrician, Dr. Katherine Zeng (best pediatrician hands down!). I have yet to confirm his needle skills after my next annual physical. Anyway, a week after my visit, Dr. Koo followed up with me via a brief phone call regarding my blood test results. Overall? Monica the receptionist was highly rude and unprofessional. I visited Dr. Koo once for a general check up. After about a 2 hour wait, I was looking around and did not see any medical plaques in the office so i inquired as to what school of medicine Dr. Koo graduated from. She dismissively replied to me "what does that matter?" Maybe i was wrong, but I thought it was my right as a patient to ask about a doctors credentials. I will go out on a limb and assume that she is somehow related to Dr. Koo, since no receptionist would have the gall to speak to patients in such a condescending manner. To spare you the the embarrassment of doing what I did here is an FYI - Dr. Kern Koo, graduated from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has been practicing since 1998. Dr. Koo is an excellent Doctor, follows up with all test results within days. He is caring, knowledgable and gets the job done. He is always open and takes patients even if u call up and your child is sick & he is closed. He has opened up when my child had been very ill, several times. I believe he has become more popular over the past few years so his waiting room is sometimes packed but you get in to see him in a reasonable amount of time. He doesn't rush any of his patients! I have been seeing Dr. Koo for years & I give him 5 stars! My daughter who is 14, has been seeing him for the last 8 years, got rid of my crazy pediatricians and brought her to this office! By far the best around! Wouldn't trust anyone else but him!! I don't believe any of this nonsense on here, if you say you have been sick for a year or had pain for a year then go to the hospital! Worst experiences in doctor's office as following reasons: 1) Receptionist is rude and crazy. 2) Dr. Koo is teasing and joking while he exam my medical conditions. 3) When I visited him, the time was around 4 PM, he suddenly took blood test. Of course, I already ate gum, soft drink, and sweet food before suddenly taking blood test, but he asked me as "did you eat lunch?" that's all he asked and I answered "No, I didn't eat lunch", and then he suddenly took blood test. He should ask "Did you eat any food or tea or any drink for 12 hours?" So, I got the result for blood test and then my glucose and cholesterol level is slightly higher than normal because I ate sweet gum, candy before taking blood test. The blood test indicates as fasting! No I ate sweet snack and gum! How come he asked me as "did you eat lunch?" only before took blood test? I ate dessert and gum, and soft drink, and candy before take the blood test! 4) I am not sure whether he is accurate professional or not. 5) I will never go to this doctor's office again in my life! Horrible receptionist, Monica. She is rude, unprofessional and dismissive. Wait time is 1 hour to 2 hours. I went in for a fasted blood test and I had to wait 1 hour which is typical here. However when I told the receptionist (Monica) that I'm using the bathroom, I thought she would wait for me when the doctor was ready for me. I came out after 2 minutes and she already had someone else in with the doctor. Mind you, I already waited 1 hour for my FASTED blood test around 4pm and she knew I was in the bathroom but she let someone else in. When I told her I was supposed to be next, she gave me an attitude and brushed it off just for me to wait another 20 minutes. When I told her I changed my address, she 'scolded' me and said 'you should have told me that then'. Well, I did. And you never asked.
