Let me start by saying I have had both good and bad experiences here. Today being the worst one yet. After walking in I let the woman know that I was looking to get a set of acrylics removed and after looking at them she asked me to sit. I had to ask how much she would charge me to remove them and clean my nails up. She quoted me 15 dollars and began clipping and picking at my nails. She then used a tool that slides between the acrylic and natural nail. (Painful but had already started the removal process and therefore just kept going) After a short time the first woman trades off with another woman. The first woman hovers and attempts to sell me a gel manicure which I had to politely decline three times. (I settled with "if you could please just clean them up and clear coat them that would be great" ) No additional charges were mentioned. Woman 1 continues to hover and blatantly comment on my nails, laughing that I was in pain while removing them, speaking with another customer about my previous set, etc. this is disheartening to say the least. From start to finish I was there maybe a half hour and it was beyond uncomfortable. After completing her service I go to the front to pay and she tried to charge me 35$. Over double what the woman had quoted me walking in. I attempt to correct this and the first woman chimes in with "you got a manicure and that's 20$ posted behind you" I stated that no one told me that and had I known I would have declined again. She states that she will just charge me "7$ for the cut." I reluctantly paid the 22 dollars to avoid further conflict and embarrassment. However, I simply did not receive a manicure. Every nail is a different shape, zero polish was applied, and worst of all my nails are bleeding from the stress of their removal method. I'd consider somewhere else in the future- I've tried one too many times to make this place work for convenience reasons. read more

My step daughters came out uneven. I paid 90$ for this and literally was told no to fix it right after it was done. Worst experience I have ever had. Asked for a french tip and like a lot of reviews said they tried to do gels on me even though i asked for just paint. When they did end up doing the french tip, the lines were too thick and see through in some spots and even on a few nails streamed down into the clear coat. She tore my cuticle so close that it bled and stopped in the middle to tell me to pay then because she was 'scared' and made me pay before she had even completed it. I'm not a pedi/mani pro but I've been to enough places to know when it's bad. I got a mani and pedi classic (not gel although they tried really hard to push that) 3 days ago and it's already chipping. I have a desk job so my hands have it easy. See photo, you can see they didn't even get to the bottom of my nail with the paint. The service was way too fast for a $30 regular pedi, the ladies were not friendly and i got burned by the towel as mentioned by another reviewer. After my pedi, the lady started my mani while I was still sitting in the chair. Meanwhile my friend was moved to the manicure area and wondering where I was. After 10 min. Wow what an incredible experience! Kyle did my nails and I highly recommend that you ask for him if you go. My nails have been in much need of some TLC and I decided to get tips this time (I usually just do shellac). I told him that I like my tips to look as natural as possible. So, slightly rounded, thin, and on the short side. I showed him a picture of a color I liked and he helped me match it. He was absolutely incredible! I wish I could rate a zero and report to health department or something! I went in to get a full set with white tips. I had acrylic nails already on and was wanting those ones removed then new one put on. The woman doing my nails started taking off my nails in the most painful way I think was possible. I kept telling her that it hurt and to stop but she kept going anyway. One of the nails particularly hurt so bad I was nearly in tears and she kept hiding it from me. She finished that hand before the other hand and then finished the second hand before letting me even really look at them. Once I got to look at the them the mail that had hurt very badly, and was still throbbing, looked weird because I had some red on it. I asked her what it was and if she could fix. She then told me that she had split my real nail and just glued the fake one on it to 'fix' it. Well now it is infected and still extremely painful. She did not tell me when my nail broke and tried fixing it with nail glue?! That does not seem professional or right to me. Never going back and extremely mad at the doctor bill I had to pay to get my finger looked at for the infection I now have. I would not recommend anyone to go here. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years now at the recommendation of a friend (whose nails I have always loved). I am extremely picky when it comes to choosing nail technicians, cosmeticians, hair stylists. When I find my people I stick with them. My nails are always done perfectly. If there is something I don't like, it gets resolved. It's never a rush job. Sometimes that means the next appointment gets started ten minutes late. But the same happens to me. I would rather wait ten minutes and know that quality is never sacrificed. My friends, family, and colleagues always know me to have my nails manicured perfectly. In two years I have only had a nail break once. And I got in the same day to have it fixed at no charge. I easily go three weeks between fills and only have to get a new set twice a year. No joke. Love love love them!!! read more

The absolute worst service I have ever received. I went into the salon with a full set of acrylics on. Removal 10$ Needed soaked off and then dip powder applied. Owner (daisy) had me pick a color then told me my nails are too long for the color so I needed to pick another one. She started dipping with clear dip and then put shellac (gel) over the dip when the point is to not have the gel at all???? Total scam for 35$ plus removal so now at 45$ Woman doing my nails doesn't remove all acrylic as you can see in the photo attached. All nails are different thickness. I asked them for a design to maybe help with the uneven look and she said she can do a spider web I agreed and she applied it which looked like a 5 year old did it. I said no and she removed it and applied the stickers you see in the photo. Just random and upside down in the middle of my nails (didn't even ask me what nail or anything) following puts a cross on my middle finger and I said NO remove those. I don't want those on my nails. She removed it and took off the gel ( as you can see in the photo) then wanted to dip the same nail again and fill in the hole with out removing the product already applied. I finally got so upset. So owner said that she did what I asked and they looked good and I said for 55$ you have lost your mind (55$ after $10 tip) I got up and walked out of the salon and I will never return or send anyone there. By far the worst experience I have ever had at any salon in Utah. If I could give 0 stars I would. Thanks for reading hope this helps you make a better decision in the salon you choose. read more

I came in too get my acrylic nails removed and just a manicure, the lady cut my nail too short while clipping off the acrylics, she did not take all the glue/acrylic off before painting my nails so there is a ton of ridges in my nails. I feel I could have done better myself, but was charged 25$ and I did leave a 10$ tip even though they don't look good. Groovy Nails used to be a great place to come, up until about 6 months ago. I've come a few different times in the last 6 months for different services. When I get a gel manicure, they hardly trim my cuticles so there's really no "manicure" in it, just applying gel. I came for a pedicure recently with my mom and we both agree it's just not the same as it once was. They rushed through our pedicures. Completely chopped off both my mom and my toe nails. The girl that did my pedicure didn't even paint the full nail. They have poor, old, dingy nail polish. & the newest discovery is they charge you extra to use new and sanitary buffers & files. In my opinion that should be just expected and included in the price, not as an extra fee. Nail techs engage in conversation with other techs and it often stops them from their work. I believe in having fun at work but not when it effects the job needing to be done. I've also often seen techs stop what they're doing to check their phone. I'm sad this place isn't what it used to be, it used to be my mom and I's favorite spot. read more

I went to groovy nails since it was so highly rated and had ward great things. Although the staff was kind, my gel nails were NOT done well. The edges were messy and it didn't cover the ends of my nail either. I know I am pretty picky about my gel nails since I usually paint my own nails but it was subpar at best and when I went back in to show them, they said that was just how gel nails look and if I wanted them perfect I would have to pay for a manicure. Time to find a new nail salon I guess. read more

I first tried out Groovy Nails for a pedicure maybe a year ago, but have not been back since. Today after having no luck painting my nails or pushing back my cuticles to my satisfaction, I decided at pretty much the time when every nail salon is closed that I needed to visit one. After calling a bunch of salons a bit closer to my home than Groovy Nails, I finally called them and was happy to find out they stayed open a little later than the other salons and could fit me in for a manicure. Two weeks ago I had a horrible experience with another nail salon, but I had had a good experience here before and was happy to give them my business. My nail technician (I believe her name is spelled Loan) was very gentle on my cuticles and especially around the area that had been damaged during my last manicure. She even asked me what had happened, and I explained I'd been cut two weeks ago during my manicure. My manicure was not rushed, even though I was cutting it close to their closing time. I also really liked that she used a UV lamp to dry my nails rather than just a small fan. She was also great in answering my questions regarding the best type of base and top coat to wear; she'd noticed my nails had been stained by the polish I'd put on the night before--even though I'd used the Ulta base coat and top coat. Unlike my last manicurist, she asked me the shape I would like my nails filed; I'd noticed that my nails didn't look very even and some of them didn't really have a shape. I was very happy with how they looked after she filed them. I felt I got a great manicure for only $13.50 (they charge a .50 fee for card transactions). I will definitely be returning here in a few weeks for my next manicure, and will be asking for Loan again specifically. read more

Walked in on a Wednesday around 4:50, and all the technicians were busy, but with no one in front of me, I decided to stay. Then 1...2...3 more people walked in and there was a steady increase as time went on. I wanted a pedicure, shellac removal and a shellac manicure. Because I was doing a pedicure they popped me on the spa massage chair (chair itself was not great) and let me soak...and soak...and soak...until the water was cold. I asked for more hot water and they turned the faucet on for a bit. After 15 seconds or so, I feel that the water stream was cool, making the water colder. It never did get warmed up, so it just made me chilled the rest of the night. If they're going to make me soak for 45 minutes so they can get other customers through, they had better make sure I'm nice and comfy. I walked out of the shop at 7:30, so the entire mani/pedi took almost 2hrs. My technician did a nice job on my actual nails. She made sure I liked the color, took the time to start over one nail when it got a tiny fleck stuck on it, and asked if I wanted another coat (which I did) before finishing. The treatments were very basic-- no scrubs, wax, etc. The "massage" was really just a lotion application. But the price was lower than I've seen elsewhere too, so maybe that's the trade off. The facility was clean, a typical walk-in salon. I was especially appreciative that the programs playing on the tv were appropriate for all ages. I frequently take my daughters (7 & 9) with me for a treat and don't like when grown up shows are on. read more

My sister in law and nephew came with me and we were greeted with a warm welcome, even though I know some people do not like kids in this kind if establishment. I have NEVER had such horrible experiences. Anywhere. I usually go to a different salon, but I tried Groovy Nails because it was closer to my house.... First time I went in..... It was the lady that sits in the 3rd chair in from the door... I was getting a full set with paint... coffin shaped and painted with regular polish. While doing my nails, she was extremely rough. I have a gouge in my pinky finger on the top from when she was filing the sides of my nail. And my cuticles on two fingers were bleeding.. this was about 3-4 weeks ago and I still have the cut on my pinky. but that's just the beginning..... After knowing EXACTLY what I wanted, she priced me at $30. Which was fine. AFTER she gets done, she says... "actually it's $35" ... $5 isn't an issue.. the issue is that you already priced me when you knew what I was doing, and decided to up the price once you were done.... So I did not agree to pay the $30 and she got an attitude... I wasn't going to go back for my fill but I decided I'd give them one more chance.... So I go in this past Saturday with my son.... And a new lady was doing my fill... She had an attitude and was also very rough with my hands and nails. So... my son is 4, and he was sitting in the chair next to me minding his own business the entire time, watching YouTube on my phone. The lady asked if I wanted to pay before she painted my nails and so I said yes and grabbed my phone from my son, since that's where my card is stored.. Well, he started wining a little, just being a 4 year old... and the lady doing my nails looked at him and said.. "SHHHHH!!!" I DIDNT say anything to her... but was extremely upset. She then proceeded to go swipe my card and started talking in their foreign language and mocked herself saying "SHHHH!" And all the nail persons started laughing so I could tell they were talking shit. Best set of nails I have had in a long time! Some places pile on acrylic and leave them thick and bulky, but these guys did them perfect in my opinion. I went in for a fill after having my original set at some other place. She cleaned up the messy work of the last job and did a beautiful job. She even got all of the excess acrylic left underneath my nails from previous set. I hate having chunks of acrylic under my nails! I'm so happy with my new set! The place itself is nice and clean inside. And I didn't have to wait long before being seen. They had a very good selection of colors also! I will definitely be back! read more

I had never been here before but needed my nails done for vacation. Called day of to get an appointment and they had me in within a couple of hours, so that was a pro. Everyone was friendly, but the service was not great. My pedi was great and went off without hitch. Looks great after two weeks. I was then switched to two different people to get my acrylics done because they had overbooked themselves. My acrylics on the other hand...are awful. I asked for an almond shape and many of the points are not centered. The biggest annoyance is that my nails were lifting within a week! Not just one, but 6 different nails! I'm not sure of the name of the woman who did my nails, but I definitely don't want to go back for fear of that being the norm of the salon. read more
