Heard great things about this place so I figured it's a must see in Florence! They have a wide array of flavors so it's pretty cool to taste all the different types. Best gelato in Florence. Located in a small place only a block from the Duomo in a nice quiet street, it's a good location and easy to get to. I was in Florence during the Gelato Festival and tried many different brands and then went to many different stores, but this was far and away the best quality while also being the best value. While I have heard a lot of really good things about Grom when I tried it I wasn't entirely impressed. The texture was very smooth and creamy, exactly how I like my gelato, but the flavors didn't really wow me. I had the caramel and while it was good it was also somewhat bland. I couldn't really taste much of the caramel after the first few bites, almost like the flavor just disappeared. I also had the yogurt. It was good, I enjoyed it more than the caramel flavor, but I think that overall both flavors could have been a little better. I have met people who really enjoy Grom and I think gelato spots are really based off of personal preference. So while I did like Grom it probably won't be my go to gelato destination. read more

A local recommended Grom to my husband and I, saying it had great gelato. So on our second day in Florence, we visited. It's a small place close to the Duomo. I was excited and the flavors sounded really good. But upon first lick, I was less than impressed with my salted caramel cone. It tasted like air; it had no flavor. Had different Gelatos in Florence and kept coming back to Grom. Although others are good, I like this place better than the rest (Vivoli, Carabe, Cavini, etc). The ingredients are super fresh and the consistency is just right. Not too rich nor icy. The perfect balance of fluffiness and creaminess. Pistachio, melon, peach, chocolate chip, espresso, mint and milk, and triple dark chocolate were all great choices. read more

Some very solid gelato from a spot just off the beaten path from the Duomo. Very delicious with plenty of options, but it seems that at any time of day this place can be packed. Not the best Gelato in Italy, or even Florence- but definitely will satisfy your sweet tooth. The menu has plenty of options- most of which could be considered your standard flavors. Pricing was a little higher than your run of the mill gelateria, but the quality is definitely there. The interior is rather dull, but you're mostly there to get gelato and get out- and there are some great spots on the street or near the Duomo to enjoy your dish. read more

My favorite flavors are the crema de grom, which is always on the menu, and the salted caramel, which is a seasonal flavor. You can try all the gelato shops in Firenze and think that you have truly experienced great gelato but once you have tried Grom you know you have finally had PERFECT gelato. Without the artificial coloring and flavoring, Grom provides and incredible gelato experience with their amazing flavors and perfect consistency. My favorite combination is the Creme de Grom and Dark Chocolate on a cone. So far I have tried every flavor there and not a single one has disappointed me, even the ones I don't normally enjoy. The price is also another great aspect of Grom. While being arguably the best gelateria in Firenze, it boasts some of the cheapest prices city-wide, far better prices then the tourist trap gelaterias with vibrant yet artificial coloring. Located a block or two by the Duomo, down a side street, it is very easy to miss as it maintains a very simple exterior. If you ever want to have great gelato, Grom is your place. read more

We only visited Grom because we were on our way back from a restaurant and saw the line going out the door. The line looked convincing enough so we joined it and got us some gelato. We had heard and seen so many good comments and reviews of Grom that we decided to try it. Big mistake. The nocciola was too sweet and had a watery taste and the extra dark chocolate tasted like wall paper past and also melted as though it had be made with water and then defrosted. Did not act or taste like any ice cream we ever had. Vivoli's extra dark chocolate is rich and creamy to the last bite. Grom was a huge disappointment and truthfully I have no idea how they keep getting away with what tastes like reconstituted ice cream. in a word, horrible. read more
