My son and his friends love 40k and this place does not disappoint. There is a huge selection of everything you need if you're a tabletop gamer. Warhammer is the pinnacle, but there are plenty of other options as well, like D&D! They also have Magic, The Gathering and other popular card games, though I didn't see Pokemon among the display cases. The gaming side is top of the line, with plenty of tables and terrain for hours of battle. I fancy myself more of a painter than a gamer and I was impressed with the options for paint, brushes, and tools they had available. I didn't buy anything on my first visit, but my son and friends felt welcomed and were treated kindly, even as teenagers (typically, this has been a challenge). I'm looking to paint an army of space marines soon, so I'll be in to grab some washes and metallics. This place is nerd nirvana. read more

I've only been in here once I'm pretty sure, although they have my account in my name so maybe I've been there for a magic tournament years ago or one of their associate stores. I really like it, good selection of stuff a lot of great tables and terrain for playing Warhammer or any other tabletop games you wanna play. Great selection, magic cards and other TCG's. I can't wait to be back and play some Warhammer with friends prices are regular prices, no deals to be found here unless you spend a certain amount of money to get enough punches in one of their rewards cards and then you get some money off of your next purchase. read more

Their forte is miniature games but they have supplies for lots of other forms of gaming and a nice selection of tabletop games. The game room has an impressive layout of miniatures tables with tons of very detailed and high quality builds for all sorts of adventures. There are tons of miniature painting supplies and miniatures, and everything looks fairly priced from what I can see. I don't really go for the miniatures games, though--I'm usually there for the book section, which is pretty expansive. They have D&D, Pathfinder, and other RPGs and are willing to order books that aren't physically there, which is great. Even when I've come in looking for an obscure book, the staff have been super nice. I've brought my kids in when we've been early for their doc appointments further down the strip, and even though we were more window shopping than anything else, we have always been treated well, including when my kids have been on crutches or using a wheelchair. The staff are knowledgeable about a lot of forms of gaming and have no problem answering questions. It's a great store and I really recommend it. It's better to get your gaming stuff from a small business like this than a big box retailer because you're supporting a whole community of people like you. read more

It's as simple as this, I walked in looking to open a pack of pokémon. I go up to the worker and asked for a pack of surging and asked for the pack in the display case. I have done this many times at other card shops without any issue, it's just a thing I like to do. The worker told me no, and proceeded to hand me a pack. It's not a huge deal but with a request so small I didn't expect a sudden no. This was at the new location in Algonquin. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here after visiting WaxPax in the same strip. He is a big gamer and I was happy to be along for the ride, though my games of choice tend toward either the arcade variety or card games. It was rather amusing because the day we went (Saturday) was apparently some kind of competition day, so the many tables to the left were full of people playing. One dude looked up and seemed DELIGHTED to see me come in the door (note: I was the only female in the place, lol), but his ardor must have cooled when my bf came in behind me, haha. According to my boyfriend, there was a heavy emphasis on wargaming. There were many miniatures and paint with which you could customize them. He thought there was a good (but small) selection of board and card games, but the tabletop selection was underwhelming. Nonetheless, he said he would shop there again. So if you're a gaming geek, this is definitely a place to check out! read more

The best Warhammer store around. We love coming here for new releases and they always have what we need in store or get it in for us if they are out of stock. The employees have always been awesome and are super personable. I love that they recently expanded and though we moved an hour away we still drive here to support their business because it's that good! They recently shipped Leviathan out to me and it came super quick which I was super pleased about since it was a very popular release. read more

I've been waiting for a place like this in the Northwest Suburbs for many years. Hello gaming Nirvana! Eight full size 6X4 tables and plenty of smaller 3X3 tables for card games, board games and miniature skirmish games. Bright, clean and plenty of space. No more trying to squeeze by other customers to move around the tables! The best part is the large selection of hard to find and out of print stuff. This place is an absolute treasure trove. I've been coming here for two years. Honestly and truly, showing up once or twice a week and meeting up with players I now consider friends, it's been one of the best experiences of my life. The staff is friendly, fair, and knowledgeable about what they're selling and the events they're running. The owners go out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome, has an unforgettable play session, and leaves happier than when they walked in. Love this place. Love the people there. Visited this place last week with a friend to get some Warmachine time in. It's a nice little shop. There's a little bit of literal everything selection-wise, including several game systems I've never even heard of, and several paint ranges for miniature types like me. The space is bright and clean. Table space is plentiful and thoughtfully designed, supporting a variety of different game types. And best of all, there are stools. I'm kidding - but as someone with mobility issues, it is very nice to have a spot to lean on after I've passed the turn. Also, I told the owner I'd put this in my review. Speaking of the owner, Todd is very friendly and clearly invested in his shop and making it a great place to be. I look forward to seeing how Grognard grows in future visits. read more

This place is great! I went in looking for paint to start getting into 40k. I was helped by a cute girl and i asked her if she had any mismatched or damaged space marines and she looked around and pulled out 3 marines missing their base :D and she even gave me one full primaris marine 10/10 shes a 10 would shop again.
