This store used to be my "go to." I would boast about it and recommend it to friends. Now it's nothing more than a Ross/dollar store type place with a million junk trinkets and yard decorations, and hardly any groceries. So I no longer consider it a "grocery store." I go in on a Saturday morning, and there's absolutely no fresh chicken. No wings, no thighs, no breasts, nada. I ask a clerk and he tells me they receive shipments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Really, and this is a Saturday morning so you're not going to have any fresh chicken until Tuesday? What a joke!! Then, they moved the produce from the refrigerated corner where it felt fresh, to a dry isle where it looks super unappealing just so they can make more room for trinkets and junk. It feels like you're at the flea market, but even worse with the produce situation. I won't be shopping here any longer :( read more

This is my nearest Grocery Outlet store and I've been here a handful of times. I don't really go shopping around. I almost randomly come here because it's very near other places I frequent. I usually come here for last minute stuff I need to get before home and going to a regular grocery store will be out of my travel way. So with all that said, prices seem pretty good if you're shopping for "healthy" alternatives. Like they have a great collection of almond flour, coconut flour, powdered green tea, etc.... The prices are very good when trying to find these items. Sometimes this parking lot gets a little full because of the college kids nearby and some other businesses in the area. read more

Store layout changed by "corporate" according to employees. It now looks like a junk store. After shopping there since it opened, on. average once a week. I doubt if I will go again. Never expected to find everything I wanted but selections were good. Now its not worth the effort to walk up & down the aisles. Who ever redesigned the store should be fired. Illogical poor design. The people that work here are not very friendly. There is one lady that is very nice and very helpful. Next time I go in I have to get her name but otherwise most of the people that work there just not very helpful at all. On a few occasions, You ask a question they'll say I don't know And don't try to find the answer for you. some of the other people/customers noted that many items are not priced. Also, some items are expired which I thought was against the law to sell expired food items. I'm going to check into that. I'v shop here for three years today was the worst rasical experience I experience the manger so he says Hugo (Mexican ) allowed a lady to keep me blocked in for 30 min while he checked her out he acted at first like he was goin to assist me in trying to find who car it was . Once he seen i notice she was of the same ethnicity I believe he held me there to Contuine to wait on the lady . he is a bigger man so the way he talked down to me and yelled at me not to come back in the store has my anxiety and PTSD high . Thoroughly enjoy shopping at this location! The staff is always great and the finds are even better! I tend to go on the weekend and it's never too busy (as in it's not overcrowded). Sometimes there's suspicious folks shopping there due to the area that is accessible to transient people, but it doesn't bother me or stop me from shopping there. Anyway, they have splendid prices and I always go to find something new and exciting. Yesterday I got some Bubly sparkling water, mini wontons, tampons, a large modern candle, cereal, and chocolate creamer, etc. Basically, a great store for a random shopping adventure. If you get lucky you'll get to hear some good music -- yesterday they were playing R&B and a few of us customers were singing along to Usher as we shopped. read more

My biggest complaint with this store is that many items have no price shown. I would buy maybe 30% more items if I only knew the price. I know other shoppers feel the same. Otherwise, I take the item to the checkout and ask them to price it. What a hassle. Products are often placed on shelves and the previous product price is still in place. Therefore people will not purchase the product as the price shown is incorrectly too high. Then the product doesn't sell and eventually gets removed due to expiration. If the store wants to see a sudden boost in sales, have someone walk through the store daily and add the prices where missing. read more

This review is for the worker who was at the cash register. Her name is Mikka, and she deserves a raise. Her customer service was extremely patient, kind, and calming. Today is Christmas Eve, and a horrible customer called on the phone during our time being rung up, said some terrible things and despite that upsetting her she still remained calm, focused, and kind. This GO isn't very good, although it's in a location where I supposed it'd be very convenient for Sac State students nearby. It's big, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to have very good stock. There's no ready-to-eat cold case section, and their stock is not well kept up, meaning there's quite a bit of expired (not almost expired) items that are still original price and not discounted at all. For example, we like these gluten-free cookies and they were all gone at our neighborhood GO, so when we were in this area, we stopped in to see what we could find and also see if we can find this item. Sure enough, they had several boxes of these cookies, but they were expired/best by May 13th, 2023, that's over a month ago! Plus, they didn't have a price label so we though they probably were still at their regular price. Just in case (and since we like to live dangerously), we were going to buy 1 box if the price has been discounted, so we took a box and when we checked out, we had the cashier price check, just to be told that they knew about those cookies and that they were all supposed to be pulled off the shelves already, b/c apparently there was some memo about it, lol. In any case, so they don't maintain their inventory very well for if they did, they would've sold off the almost expired cookies over a month ago. The rest of their stock were items we saw at other GO's already and mostly they were at high prices, even if only slightly higher. We did find these specialty lassi yogurt drinks in turmeric banana flavor which was interesting and quite tasty considering how healthy they were, expiring that day or the next couple of days, so 3 for 98c, score! read more

We went here to buy some groceries and one of the managers an African American man with a birth mark on his neck had an attitude towards us wanting a price check/correction. A sign was was placed in the wrong place and when the item was brought up to the registers we needed a manager for a price correction but he brought up the sign (which was $9.99) which matched the item AMAZING not the issue, the item was placed under a different sign ( $4.99) it took my dad to go show him the price for him to say that it was the wrong price. The manager also insinuated that my dad changed the sign before my dad checking him cuz there is no reason to be doing all that for some $4 pumpkin seeds read more

I went to the Folsom Blvd east Sacramento store, for a few things. I came upon a few patio umbrellas. I was having trouble figuring out the differences and prices of the umbrellas on sale. There was a young man stocking the shelves and I asked if you could help me. His name is David. He dropped what he was doing and for the next 30 minutes, helping me find what I came in to purchase. I gave him 5 stars because David definitely went over and above his job description by helping me find for what I was looking for. And even though it looked like he wasn't going to be able to help me, he went to the back three or four times to check to see if he had anything there. Lo and behold he was able to and he really deserves to get some recognition. He's on the ball and cares about his customers. Being a senior, we don't always get that kind of treatment, a smile on his face and the patience of an angel, the whole time. Thank you David! read more

The Folsom East Store has to be one of the worst Grocery Outlet Stores I've visited since I've shopped at this grocery chain for several years. There is a serious issue with the shopping carts at this location. This is the third time in approximately a year that I've experienced the issue at this exact store, and this time was the worst. The last time I stopped at the store to do some shopping, there were no grocery carts in the cart storage area outside the store. I walked into the store to see if any carts were available. There were none. I finally stepped back out of the store, located one cart at a remote cart return area in the parking lot, and walked it into the store to start my shopping tasks. The time before that I noticed a woman leaving with groceries in a cart, noted there were no carts available and waited for the customer to empty her cart and she gladly let me take the cart so I could do my shopping. Talk about an uncomfortable feeling, waiting as a customer unloads groceries into their vehicle so I could take the only available cart. I stopped at this store on Saturday, December 7, 2024, for regular shopping. Again...no carts. I saw a woman walking the parking lot who finally found and grabbed the only cart left in the cart return location. I walked into the store. Very few customers were inside, but they were using the few available carts. I stood at the entrance, hoping someone might address this issue, and finally, after a few minutes, an associate walked past me, heading out the door, muttering, "I'll see if I can find a cart." Within minutes, they returned to the store, looked me in the eye, smiled, and said, "Sorry...there are no carts." NO....I'm sorry, Grocery Outlet.....You expect customers to shop at your store for groceries. Well, let me give you a heads-up. When shopping for groceries, you need a cart to put them into so you can take them to the checkout area. This is standard practice at every grocery store I have ever visited. I have been told this store has a cart issue due to homeless people, etc. On this most recent visit, I even noted that someone was shopping in the store with a Target shopping cart from the Target store that is half a mile from this Grocery Outlet. If you are having a cart theft issue, or whatever the problem is, you need to either place cart storage inside the store so it can be monitored more readily or lock carts so we can put a coin to access them. But to stand there and look at a customer and tell them, "Sorry, no carts," and walk off is the worst customer service I can imagine experiencing. Therefore, based on this repeat and ongoing issue, Grocery Outlet, you have lost my business, and not only at this location. This issue has now given me a reason to take my business elsewhere. I have decided that my business must be insignificant to you, and I will NEVER shop at another Grocery Outlet. You've failed with a HUGE "F." I will not hesitate to tell everyone I know what a sloppy business you run at your stores. Good luck staying in business in these highly challenging and competitive times. read more

Homeless people outside asking for things as soon as you get out of your car. Tell me why there's over 5 employees working but all the shopping carts are sitting in the hot sun with none available in their front cart return or inside for parents- Nobody wants to put their baby in a hot shopping cart! I like the family parking aspect but other than that calling the store an "outlet" is a joke. Milk $4 eggs $6 creamer $5 higher prices than Walmart; meat starts at $10 here. Alcohol isn't locked up but the phone chargers are lol. Employees have bad attitude problems when you ask for phone chargers to be unlocked because they can't find the key so tell me who exactly is the manager of this store and what the heck are they actually doing if no one knows where anything is? I'm sure employees are frustrated with working here because you can feel the negative tension from the staff so honestly I just feel bad for them Items throughout the store don't have proper tags beneath them so you don't know how much things cost and if you dare to bring it to a register for a price check be ready for all the dirty looks you will get. No one knows what items are marked down even though there's big yellow signs above those items and only one employee seems to know what is on special... Listen, groceries are expensive so yes I'm going to notice when my items ring up more than advertised; I came here hoping to save some money but left leaving pissed! Poor management and communication skills throughout the staff, operations and this establishment! Plenty of parking spaces in the shared lot, but not a good time to maneuver. Clean interior. Hand sanitizer dispenser by the entrance. Decent number of customers in the early afternoon on a weekday. Once long lines started to form, one employee opened up an additional checkout line. The cashiers are relatively slow compared to other places, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're short on time. Not all checkout lines had plexiglass, and none of the staff wear masks. It looked like one of the cashiers might have been changing out disposable gloves after each transaction, but I know my cashier wasn't wearing any at all. Some of the drinks and snacks are cheap. I came specifically to buy cup noodles but left disappointed. I had seen them at this location before, but there were none on the shelves. read more

Most grocery stores suck. Discount grocery stores usually suck even more. This Grocery Outlet does not suck. Obviously, you have to come with an open mind because you never know what will be in stock, but the selection is always great. Four stars for all of the awesome beers they carry. You can find lots of local goodies (like Hemly Cider!!), smaller craft brews from all over the country, and a solid selection of hard kombuchas. I stopped by yesterday for the first time, they had about everything I needed. Except I didn't trust the fresh produce much because of all the reviews on here about expiration dates being long past. The produce didn't look terrible but it also wasn't the most appealing I've ever seen. I think I would've bought a few fresh produce items if I hadn't seen the reviews. The only other thing that was not the best was the pasta sauce was pretty expensive. Overall, not a bad shopping experience. I'm not someone to get too excited about grocery stores, but the new Grocery Outlet offers a surprising number of deals that blow anything else in the neighborhood out of the water. And as of this review, it's very new, meaning no lines (looking at you, East Sac Trader Joe's) and a quick, grab-and-go experience. What would bring me back again is the deals. Paying half as much for basics like milk, bananas, eggs, etc. will save your a pretty penny compared to Save Mart or Target. The downside is that the reason Grocery Outlet is cheaper is because there are a lot of off-brands. You will find the names you are familiar with, but a full shopping trip will be a mix between familiar and unfamiliar labels. read more

If you're thinking of visiting Grocery Outlet, do yourself a favor and avoid Jake. My experience with him was beyond unprofessional. Throughout my entire interaction, he kept farting--loud, obnoxious, and constant. Worse yet, he kept wincing every time he did it, maintaining eye contact, as if he was in pain. By the end of it, I ended up with pink eye, and I'm certain it was from the horrible conditions. If you're looking for decent customer service and a clean environment, you might want to steer clear of this place until they address Jake's "issues." read more

First public shopping day at Gro O Folsom Blvd (near 65th St, Sacramento.) First 200 in line got a gift card, ranging from $5 to $200. The faithful stood outside for 30-45 minutes. I was near the end of the line so it was 45 minutes. I didn't mind, it's part of the opening day scene. Free grocery tote bag and loaf of Oroweat bread at checkout. Tons of Gro O staff on hand to keep things organized. I had a decent groocery list, so ended up spending $65! read more

I wish they had the essential BBQ supplies year around and enough to last longer than a week during the heavy BBQ seasons (Football Season & Summer Time). The prices are kinda hit and miss sometimes, but the staff is still awesome. Beer selection is a bit artsy fartsy but that what you get close to East Sac and a University I guess. I also wish they has a bigger selection of exotic foods, Mexican foods, Asian foods, and produce. read more

The newly opened Grocery Outlet has special sales regularly. There was a Buy 1, Get 1 Free sale on Rocky Mountain Pies during Thanksgiving week. A six-pack of German Astra beer was only $5.75. The beer selection is similar to the Safeway in midtown. This is a vast store with a good variety of health bars. Nature Valley granola and Love Crunch dark chocolate were only 99 cents. It's conveniently next to The Dollar Tree and within walking distance of Sac State. read more

*COVID AlRERT* Today I visited my former favorite GCO location. I was alerted at checkout that "next time I needed to leave my backpack upfront." I responded with a polite ok, now I am expressing my concern with this policy given the virus. 1. Unsafe/unsanitized storage location - the suggested storage location at this location is in ground next to the door. Since GCO will not accept any liability for lost or stolen bags, patrons should not have to put them self at risk. Also I noticed the area on floor was dirty and did not appear to be regularly sanitized... 2. GCOs Corp. definition of "backpack and how this policy should be enforced for male/female/trans gender patrons- I would challenge I was wearing a "murse" due to the size and number of pockets of my pack. I also noticed female customers with purses were not questioned. How would a Fanny pack be classified at this location? I will follow up by handwritten letter to the corporate office for clarification and report back. I understand this policy was prob intended to reduce shrinkage. Given the current environment I believe this policy needs to be reviewed as it is a public health concern. Perhaps this store could provide security shopping escorts for hire customers as a potential solution in the interim. 1 star read more

I frequent grocery outlets in my hometown and also when I travel or visit friends. This is by far the most rundown GroceryOutlet I have encountered in a while. Just now when I went to post my review, I noticed their latest health score and now I am worried about the food I bought because of, vermin contamination which they were cited for. The most irritating thing to me was probably 30% of the store has no price in front of the item. Most people like myself are budget conscious while shopping at GroceryOutlet and not knowing the price of items is Very disappointing. The young man who says he's the manager has a very bad attitude. Signage is wrong on pet Food. He became belligerent when I told him that they need to work on their signage. He said I can't help it if people open the boxes. As if to insinuate that customers opened them. I said they were already open and they were on that said two for a dollar. It's clear that this was done by employees because the boxes were clearly cut open with some type of straight edge razor or box cutter. I told him I was going to call to complain about his attitude and he said go ahead and you can shop somewhere else too. I also told him it's also really unfortunate that people are standing around and there are many plants Inside and out dying being neglected and dying. He just snickered. He made sure that he had one of his fellow employees standing by while he was working the register and ringing me up. I guess he needed some emotional support. I don't know what happened to the very nice young lady who was the manager that I knew. She was always very polite, customer service oriented and accommodating. It's unfortunate so many young people now a days in retail have absolutely no customer service skills. Many are Sarcastic and appear to care less about how they treat their elders. I meant to leave this review a few weeks back but it totally slipped my mind until I decided to go to the grocery outlet in Bradshaw which is my normal store. I decided to go to the Folsom BLVD location because I was in the area. Everything with this store was okay and they had a little more selection than the Bradshaw location. The only issue was the cashiers. Two lanes where open. The female cashier was having a long discussion with a customer she must have known from outside of work because I originally got in her line but she was chatting too much and not ringing up any groceries. I then moved to the next open lane. The gentleman working there had multiple customers and the line was hardly moving even though the people in line didn't have that many items. Don't get me wrong here. I'm never one to complain about waiting in line and I know that these stores do not pay their employees a living wage. That's a whole other issue. But this dude was slower than that sloth from the Pixar movie. When it was our turn to check out I serious thought I was being pranked. It literally took him about a minute per item. Right before I was being checked out He had a talking to from another employee for not having his walkie-talkie on him so maybe he was going through some things but boy was this uncomfortable. Whomever the lady was who chastised him for not having his radio should have been paying more attention to how he was handling costumers rather that being the policy police. I sort of felt bad for him so when he was finally done ringing me up [10-13 items with a total time of 11 minutes] I decided to tell him "thanks and have a nice day" he did not say a word he just gave me an angry look, dead right into my eyes. So I don't think I will be going to this store again. read more

I went in this morning as soon as they opened, and soon as I walked in, I was greeted with enthusiasm! Great attitudes attitude from everyone... and my question was immediately answered about where the greeting cards were. The clerk even showed me where the rack was and also, where other cards could be found. It was really a good experience. I was in and out (it had just opened so there were no other customers), but everyone's seem to have come in witha wonderful spirit (really uplifting). It's a good way to start the day! Not a great location. Tons of hobos aggressively panhandling and at times intimidating customers of nearby businesses. Not the fault of the store but heads up. The store itself is good overall but needs better training for their employees. Many are unaware of grocery outlet policies. Diana is great, and when I have brought issues to her attention in the past she has been helpful and prompt. The prices here are the same if not more than the raleys down the street smh. And all their shit is supposed to be salvaged groceries and sometimes is expired. I bought some bread and when I went home it had mold. I stopped shopping here about a year ago and decided raleys down the street is not only cheaper but the quality is unmatched. I was dissatisfied with the store. My husband saw a good price on dog food. So I drove to pick some up after work,but when the cashier rung it up it was outrageously priced,even after confirming that it was marked incorrectly due to their own fault. Awesome prices. Just got done with opening day. Received a free shopping bag and a gift card plus I had coupons from the mail. I have a one-year-old daughter and I was trying to unload my groceries and a very nice employee unloaded them on the belt for me which was beyond helpful. I usually go to WinCo and it's much further and I have to bag my own groceries. Never will I go there again. Grocery outlet is my new place!!! Even the customers were super friendly. I stood by super nice people in line and a man saw me unloading my groceries into my car and he did it all for me and took the cart back for me!
