This grocery outlet is the worst! I've shopped at many stores in my life, including this store. Never, before have I encountered such mistreatment of a customer. They have items that are clearly mislabeled on the shelf, and when you point it out to them, they refuse to honor the shelf price. I have never seen a store that didn't give the customer the shelf price, when it was unequivocally their error! Merced Grocery Outlet is some place where you have to take your magnifying glass with you to verify the correct price label. Then again, WHO DOES THAT! I love finding deals here! Here are some of my recents: 4 beef empanadas for $2.50, açaí for $4 ($7+ elsewhere), soy chorizo scrambles- they're surprisingly great and about 50% the standard price. One of the owners is really friendly, and I always look forward to seeing her. The managers are pretty helpful too, if you're trying to find something. This is the place to find one-of-kind items at low prices. Don't expect to find the same deal twice and do check the expiration dates. I like trying new food products, but sometimes, they're a flop, like the Maple Cheerios ($2 family size) or the Perrier ($0.50/4), but still a good enough price. One star off for the location. If you sell seasonal items and the sign does not say "all sales final" for those items you should as an establishment honor someone returning those seasonal items. Very unpleasant visit today, the girl cashier was helpful when I asked to return but the male that said "all seasonal items are final sales" was rude and made me not want to come back. read more

Anyone who has been here before should understand how this store works, they receive overstock from other stores and items from past seasons or holidays that are still within their sell by date. You can get some great deals here, they carry everything from fresh meat to gardening items and they are always reasonable in price when comparing them to any big-box store. You'll always save money by shopping here and they always make it a point to show you on the receipt, but if you shop smart while here then you can stock up for cheaper than you would have previously imagined. What a disgusting place. They have absolutely nothing set up to sanitize carts and when I asked one of the clerks where I go to sanitize carts, he looked at me like I had 10 heads. I was so disgusted. The store smelled extremely moldy and just plain dirty. They are way overpriced. The same loaf of bread I get at a different store was a full $2 more expensive at Grocery outlet. The lay out is scattered and just flat out messy! I will never go to this store again. I urge you not to go either. read more

This is a fairly good place to buy groceries it's not in the best side of town most of the surrounding area is provided with inexpensive motels and basically used car used new cars sales around that area off a lot of concrete there are a number of homeless people in the area and low-income people that go there to get groceries and ask good selection although it's kind of Warehouse it's good if you're only buying for one and somewhat affordable there are other bargain centers such as Costco and other things but they don't compare because you have to buy an enormous amount of groceries in order to get the good deal and if you're single living alone at grocery outlet is comfortable place to buy groceries read more

5/11/15 i bought 2 tony's pizza for 1.49 what a deal? But when i heated it in the oven to serve to my kids i noticed the box saying expired 4/30/15. I called the store asking for a refund. And the manager on duty at 9am today said the product is good to sell still past 90 days and it said in the book he was reading. And that if i still had the product in the box, he would refund it fully. But would i really bring baked pizza back to the store i think not. I thought the way he was handling it was more unprofessional bcz he never thought of it as a serious problem. If you know what to buy here, then you hit the jackpot! My theory is never go here if you need a specific item, just go here, browse around and find hidden gems. I got a dozen health bars, a couple of yogurts, and two boxes of chips for under $6, What a steal! Recently, I came to the realization that a lot of the stuff there is about to expire(I knew this part already), but other things are marketing gone wrong. You have to remember this is an OUTLET store, thus meaning items are expired, close to expired, or did not meet high quality standards of the company, were over/under filled, over stock, or flat out rejectes. Keeping all of this in mind I still say this store is pretty crappy. Employees ignore customers, some are rude but the checkers are nice and friendly. The store is over cluttered, and is fairly unorganized. Another bad point is the store, and parking lot are filthy. The bathroom is atrocious (but i think its been over hauled) An item can be here today and gone tomorrow never to return. Good points price are are MEGA LOW. You can find some really good speciality cheeses, and other food items for way under what you would pay elsewhere. read more

I love the bargains and the extra help to load my cart/car. There's always an associate walking around willing to help load heavy items in my cart and to help me unload it in my car. As an expecting mother, getting a little help to load heavier items has become the most important factor where I shop now. The associates at the other grocery stores in town either refuse to help (because it's not their job) or sloppily throw the item in my cart/car. I get better and more consistent service here. I even got help loading and unloading six 20-lb bags of ice for a picnic back in June! I offered to tip the young man who helped me but he declined, smiled and told me "It's just part of my job." read more

Hands down best G-Outlet I've been to. Picked up wonderful red wine, dry cider, champagne, plus very cheap blackberries and strawberries. Their selection of produce and alcohol is substantially better than Bay Area G-Outlets. Same great organic chips/crackers and cheese selection. This place is seriously worth a stop by. I use Grocery Outlet to find deals and not a specific item. I love their NOSH section and get fantastic deals on their organic non-GMO items. It's not the grocery store where you are going to find exactly what you need. That is what I use Village Fresh for, to shop for specific items that I won't find at Grocery Outlet. Raley's has been going downhill as far as service and their NOSH section is so overpriced. Grocery Outlet has an opportunity to capitalize on the decline of Raley's and really draw in a NOSH crowd and expand. read more

A little cluttered and unorganized, the lay out is different then the Modesto Stores. The clerks were very friendly for G.O. stores. From the two times I have been here looking for cheap produce or boxed snacks they have either been a week within expiration, expired or just no good. Once I was looking for some mangos which were completely mush along with watermelons having some type of mold grow on them. I also looked at some snacks like gold fish and mac and cheese which were close or well beyond the expiration date. I had always heard they are cheap because it's expired and this seems to be true. read more
