Ok store is tired and rundown looking.But they got unique stuff and great sales.Prices are fair they got great pots for the garden.

Big lots used to be somewhere to get nice things at a reasonable price. Now, overpriced! Many health and beauty, food items are fheaper at regular groceries. The furniture is just JUNK. I was looking for a recliner. The one in their display had a crooked arm, one higher than the other and was just rickety! $379 . The cashier, an older gentleman was very nice. read more

This Big Lots location never lets me down when it comes to deals and a hard to find items. This is one store that I always choose to go down each and every aisle because often times I will see unique items for home and entertainment, like the Shaq egg cooker or a tea infuser that looks like Santa Claus. Whenever I need or want limited release snacks like red white and blue berry Cap'n Crunch or chocolate chip moon pies, they always seem to have what I like. read more

Great place to get some cheap stuff. Not the best place or a go-to place by any means but for occasions when it's nifty to be thrifty then this is a place to be thrifty. This was my first time going into Big Lots ever! I needed a gift for my grandmother who is very sick and I was helped by Toren. She was so nice and very helpful! She helped me find the perfect gift for my grandma. Toren has outstanding customer service and if you ever go into Big Lots in Merced I highly recommend asking Toren for any of your needs! I read the one star reviews and wonder if we are talking about the same store. I mean they are talking about race discrimination here? The employees are incredibly nice, both the Anglos and the Hispanics. The furniture crew, they are fabulous. What garbage lies behind the store just might not be left there by any Big Lots personnel, knowing the homeless situation in this town, let alone the abundance of litter in my own front yard left by others. If you have worked any retail at all, anywhere, you know that cleaning up the alley or behind the store isn't exactly priority. The customers are the first concern, and that's what they do just fine. Maybe the linen products aren't up to Kohl's quality, but I own a small collection of their towels, they hold up quite well without having to spend a fortune. A can of pears by Del Monte is a can of pears by Del Monte, only Big Lots sells them for $1 and the product has not expired. Isn't that the point of Big Lots? Don't let the exterior fool you into coming in. A Big bunch of cheap goods at low prices. The atmosphere feels like a goodwill store. Not very inviting. If you have little cash in the wallet, then shop here. read more

I went to Big Lots looking for a day bed for my little sister. The store was trashed, and it seemed they were going through some sort of remodel. However, it made it very difficult to shop in, and was not a nice shopping environment. I found the bed I wanted to purchase, so I went to the front counter. After waiting a few minutes, and waiting for the checkout woman to finish her conversation with another employee, she told me there was already someone over in furniture, and to see her for help. We waited at the furniture counter for a few minutes while the employee assisted another shopper. They then walked over to discuss the furniture they were going to purchase. She never once said anything to us. Not an "I'll be with you guys in a just a moment" or a "sorry for the wait, but I'll be right with you". When she returned to the desk, I smiled at her to which I received a scowl in return. She proceeded to do who knows what on her phone and computer, without any acknowledgment of us still. At this point I am getting irritated, but luckily a male employee walks up to help. Just at that moment, another shopper walks up and he starts helping her right away while we are still standing, waiting, with NO acknowledgment whatsoever. I walked out with my $230 I was going to spend and found a day bed much cheaper somewhere else. Terrible customer service. Filthy store. I am done shopping there. read more

You know, I do t really shop here, but the few times I've come, there's a furniture departament salesman named José Samano who is really attentive and takes pride in his work. I always go to him when I come because he is very helpful and has great customer service! Ever one actually is helpful, and whenever they need help, they seem to always go to Jose. I recommend this place because of his customer service. Somebody needed a type of couch they had there because his son had just got out of the hospital and needed right away, and he went out of his way to help me but also made sure the man was helped right away. read more

Horrifing store. Bad managers and horrible employees. I did see one woman look somewhat happy working there and if it had not been for her. My glimmer of all hope for life would have been for nothing. Although I will not go in here again. I wish to at least thank the lady who gave me hope. I love coming here for snacks... Or things I don't need... Like furry socks or those cool looking earphones... Most of the employees here are nice... There are two older women here that are extremely social and like to talk.. I enjoy our chats when I'm at the cashier... Good place to come to get snacks before the movie. read more

Today on Nov 27, 2016 I walked into big lots with my girlfriend who's 8 1/2 months pregnant and my 5 year old son with our minds made up on which couches we would be purchasing. As soon as we got into the furniture department Michelle made a a very rude comment on how she's not going to be able to take a lunch now because we were there. We walked around the area to make sure we were 100% sure we wanted that couch. When we ask to purchase the couches Michelle and 2 other associates started making very unprofessional and rudely put comments on how they needed to go in the back and look through the container and pull the couches out and that it was going to take forever and that we should just come back later. Very unprofessional and very rude for them to say that. After that each time Michelle would pass us she would sign and look very very irradiated. We then spoke to a lovely older Hispanic lady employee who we asked for Michelle name and she informed us that it wasn't the first time she had received complaints and that we should write an official compliant to corporate. We came in there and spent $860 on couches we expect great customer service and should not have to tolerate rudeness. My pregnant girlfriend no longer wanted to buy the couches but I'm a very patient man. I hope we can resolve this issue read more

employees are so rude I wanted an item and there was a sign with $35 so I was like oh cool my mom and sister where like good deal I go to pay and it comes up as$45 told the cashier no sign said $35 well she tells someone to double check the price he comes back no sign and that's not the price arguing with me I should of token a picture to prove this dumb employee why hire someone who doesn't want to be at work or help customers out its because of us buyers stores are open !! I am. fan of big lots but my recently contact with an assistant named Lucas changed that . In the past I bought a fireplace, three box springs and mattresses, office furniture, three couches and miscellaneous items every week I also have family in Ohio working for Big Lots. You can imagine my surprise when I drove 40 miles to cancel a $400 payment to be told my account was "purged." I even called the store before leaving home to check on whether I could to that. All the help I got from Lucas was take this number and call customer care. Why couldn't he have practiced a little customer service and called for me. I just drove 40 miles and could barely walk because of an accident that left me with total hip and shoulder replacements and I am made to feel like I don't matter. Real nice big lots. Also, when the phone number he gave me did not work he refused to connect me to the store manager. Here I am now typing and on hold for 15 minutes and then told I will get a check in two to three weeks. Of course I will buy that couch somewhere else. read more
