Back flower beds and bird haven, restored to glory.
Dave-n-Kat N.

We moved into our home on over an acre 5 years ago. GRO had done some basic landscaping for the builder and installed the sprinkler system. We've had GRO come out a couple of times to repair the sprinklers (our fault due to "mower mishaps"). They were so easy to work, incredibly professional and respectful, and did the job right. Over the last year, we experienced all sorts of life issues that kept us from being able to spend the time necessary to maintain the yard. Weeds had taken over everything, and I was embarrassed and overwhelmed. I called local companies for bids on clean-up and maintenance. GRO Outdoor Living was not the lowest cost, however they are the most professional and they listened to what I wanted rather than telling me what they would do. The clean-up portion of my yard has been completed. The crews who performed the work displayed incredible work ethic, care for my property, and something I can only describe as a "whistle while you work" approach. I didn't take any before pics because, as I said, I was embarrassed by what my yard had become. It was weedy with no distinguished edges to the lawn, and the spring growth of flowers was hard to notice. Thank you to GRO Outdoor Living for bringing beauty and life back to my yard. Your teams are amazing!

Missing (not broken, but never installed) lawn sprinklers

I hired GRO for three separate projects at my house in Oregon City. Two of the three they completed, but the third they fumbled pretty badly at the end. They were to install irrigation, lawn and planting bed irrigation to a little over an acres of the south lawn area. They hurried to install irrigation and to hydroseed mid- to late-Sept. 2022 in order to beat the rains coming in late Oct. They skipped the standard practice of irrigating the dirt to cause weed seeds to germinate, then spray to kill weeds before hydroseeding. When I questioned this, the job foreman assured me that they would return in the spring to spray the weeds. Come spring, they refused to do that for me, saying it wasn't in the contract. They also failed to install 3 or 4 sprinkler heads at one end of the lawn, so the grass in that area died. They also refused to fix what was obviously their oversight on this issue. I now wonder if they will even make good on their 1-year warranty on plant material they installed.

Moved into a new home with a horrible backyard due to severe slope and poor soil. GRO terraced the yard and added steps creating an incredible design. The work was professionally accomplished and resulted in a most incredible final product. Note the photos and the beautiful workmanship. Without reservation, I can recommend GRO for any and all needs. Well done!

Our beat up entrance before the work.

The pressure wash job of my very dirty concrete driveway was done professionally. They went above…read moreand beyond by cleaning up the moss on the curb! The only negative aspect was that they postponed at the last minute on the day we had scheduled. I understand unexpected things come up, and work may need to be reprioritized. They came early the following day. So all is well that ends well. I will hire again.

"Do not let the high rating or social media videos fool you. I paid $750 for a sloppy, rushed job…read morethat I had to supervise myself. Despite claiming years of experience, Daniel showed a complete lack of basic horticultural knowledge. I had to stay outside for 6 hours (9 AM - 3 PM) because he didn't seem to understand simple plant logic--like the proper '4 and 4' spacing (4 inches of soil and 4 inches of mulch) to prevent plant rot. Major Failures: * Logistical Oversight: The crew arrived without a wheelbarrow. After an initial disagreement, Daniel acknowledged it had been requested, but they were forced to improvise using a trash can and my personal buckets. This lack of proper equipment led to an inefficient process and unbalanced soil use. * The 'Extra Time' Dispute: I paid a premium for a 4-hour job, but it took 6 hours because I had to constantly correct the work. Daniel claimed the extra time was my fault for insisting on correct measurements, and he suggested I should be 'happy' he didn't charge me for those extra hours or a trip fee to get more soil. In reality, the soil shortage and the delays were caused by his own lack of preparation and proper tools. * Poor Execution: The results are unprofessional. As my photos show, the 4-inch edging is wavy and buckled with gaps, the plant spacing is lopsided, and the dirt circles are inconsistent. * Final Impression: Daniel left before a final walkthrough was finished. It is unacceptable to blame a customer for the time it takes to supervise a 'professional' who arrives under-equipped. I was prepared to give this business a glowing referral, but the lack of skill and preparation makes that impossible. Save your money and find a service that takes pride in their work." Thank you for your response. I'd like to clarify a few points so future customers have an accurate understanding of my experience. I selected your business based on the quality of work shown in your reviews and project examples, and I paid a premium rate expecting a similar level of professionalism. The scope of my project--planting small shrubs and grasses, applying mulch, and minor leveling--was straightforward compared to the larger installations you advertise. The job was discussed and priced as a 4-hour service, but it ultimately took approximately 6 hours with a three-person crew. My concern is not the additional time, but that even with the extended time, several agreed-upon elements were still not completed to a consistent or satisfactory standard. Throughout the process, I made an effort to be flexible. When additional items came up, I framed them as "if time allows," and I remained available because I was asked to be present for clarification. However, I found myself needing to repeatedly restate basic instructions--such as consistent plant spacing and proper soil and mulch depth--because those details were not being followed consistently. For that reason, I do not agree that the additional time was caused by my involvement. My presence was a direct result of needing to ensure the work met the agreed-upon expectations, not the cause of the delays. Prior to the job, I also communicated a change regarding the rubber mulch, as it could not be prepared for adhesive. I asked that it simply be leveled, similar to the river rock, which you agreed to. However, neither the mulch nor the rock leveling was completed, and I was ultimately told there was no time due to the job running over. There were also preventable inefficiencies. Arriving without requested equipment required improvising with my personal items, and the need for additional soil could likely have been avoided with better preparation and handling. Toward the end of the job, the work appeared rushed, and a proper final walkthrough was not completed before departure, despite my attempt to address remaining concerns. After the job, I reached out directly to express that while I appreciated the effort, I was disappointed in the overall finish and the rushed elements that were not completed as expected. The response I received focused primarily on the time spent exceeding four hours, rather than addressing the quality concerns raised. My review reflects these specific concerns: lack of preparation, inconsistent execution, and the need for ongoing supervision to meet basic expectations. I would have preferred a more professional response focused on addressing the concerns raised rather than assigning blame, as that is ultimately what future customers rely on when evaluating a business.

They are truly service-oriented from the moment you reach out to them, and it starts with Dan. He's friendly, responsive and provides detailed estimates immediately for whatever work is needed. We have a 5-zone sprinkler system with a combination of drip lines and sprinklers in the front and backyard. It's a funky arrangement that needed a serious upgrade. His crew (Marvin and Jose) are miracle workers! They are real problem solvers who managed to reroute some existing sprinkler lines, fix several hidden leaks and provide more water coverage in several zones. Marvin and Jose are a joy to watch. They really enjoy their work and it shows. Marvin will even sing while he's putting in new drip lines or tying off others, and nothing seems to faze him. Both men are polite, courteous and appreciative of drinks and snacks while they work. They say "Thank you, so much" every time. After spending the entire day at our home, we tested the system and everything worked well, but there were a few dry spots I noticed the next day. Dan came by today to collect payment and I showed him the areas where water wasn't quite reaching and he said, "No problem." Marvin and Jose will come back to make a few adjustments -- at no extra charge. Best of all, the new parts they install are guaranteed for 5 years instead of one. Who does that? All in all, this was a terrific experience and I wish I had hired this company 13 years ago when we landscaped our yard. I'm so impressed with them and you will be, too.

Josh and Kyle were methodical in the process of supporting the porch, removing the old beams and installing the new ones. Since there were 6 beams, the process was done in two stages. The team demonstrated excellent skill in installing the metal anchors in concrete and then cutting the beams to fit perfectly in place. This was a very technical renovation and we couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism and skill of the construction crew. The renovation was also a very fair value.
