I ordered the Flat Iron Steak and a House Salad. The steak.came with a chimichurri sauce, asparagus, and potatoes au-gratin. The steak was a pergect size, 8 oz. The star was the potatoes au-gratin! My husband ordered the Bison Meatloaf. Something you can't get just anywhere. Came with asparagus abashed potatoes. Generous size and he ate every bite! Excellent choice! My son ordered the Chicken Prosciutto Pasta. Perfect portion! Prosciutto was fried up crispy! He enjoyed his selection. We were too full dessert but could not pass on their Blueberry Bread Pudding. The server, Marileigh (is the name on the receipt, but she did not introduce herself to us), was impatient, rude, and made us feel unwelcome, which was particularly unpleasant after spending time enjoying the park. Our drink order was two beers, a coffee, and a Sprite. When she returned without the Sprite and my guest asked about it, Marileigh replied that her tray only held so many drinks. When she later delivered the Sprite, she asked my guest if she wanted a straw and then threw it onto the table without a word. Very unprofessional and unkind. She was impatient with our questions about the limited menu (we were there at 4:30pm). It did not seem busy when we were there, yet she gave us the impression she was too busy for us. In addition, the food was not good. We ordered three bison burgers, which were very dry, and the buns were hard and did not seem fresh. We had to cut the buns with a knife, they were so hard and dry. The greens were wilted. It seemed the burgers had perhaps been sitting in an oven for a long while. Mid-meal, we told Marileigh the burgers were not fresh, and as we were leaving, we told her we should have sent them back as soon as we realized they were not fresh. She said she was sorry. The quality of the meal did not meet the standard we expected, especially considering the setting and the reputation of Yellowstone National Park. I understand that restaurants can have an occasional difficult day, but both the poor service and the quality of the food made this visit memorable for the wrong reasons. We spent most of our time exploring the area and were mainly there to sleep, but it was a great place to come back to each night. The location is excellent, just minutes from Yellowstone's west entrance, making it very convenient for visiting the park. If you're planning to run the Yellowstone Half Marathon hosted by Vacation Races, this hotel is an especially great choice since it's within walking distance of the start line.
