The only reason I'm not coming back is the parking is hard and not to sound too prudish , but there was ALOT of cursing from the instructor . Super nice and a good workout but to me it was really distracting , I've never been in a class where the F word was screamed so much , that doesn't make me feel good. This is by far one of the best spin studios I have ever been to! It's a quick (intense) 45 min class. Not only are you spinning but instructors include upper body work outs and core work outs, so you are getting the full body work out. I love the fact that it's warm in there, I'm the type that my body just can't sweat unless I'm doing a heated work out, so this is great! The chilled eucalyptus towels make you feel pretty good after the end of a work out as well. My only complaint is the place is pretty pricey, I've bought a couple of unlimited months at a time and have gotten my boyfriend to sign up and 2 other friends! You can't go wrong! The facility is amazing. The deck is awesome and promotes relationships from the outset. Staff and clients come in with a smile and leave 2-3 lbs of sweat on the floor, still smiling. Every amenity is there, but bring your own water or water bottle as their commitment to GREEN is BYOB ... Bring your own Eco friendly bottle, and they will provide clean clear purified water. The shower is large and they provide towels, shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap. Bring a smile, a good attitude and a few extra $$$, as they are at the high end of the spectrum when it comes to cost. While they have a great philanthropic commitment to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation (which I consider a portion of each spin goes to cancer research), the average cost per spin is roughly $20. I've never done soul cycle before, but when I heard grit was very similar to the popular NYC class, I figured I'd give it a go. I really liked the class! Good music, great instructors (Matt was my fave). I'm not the most coordinated when it comes to "bike dancing" but it was still a ton of fun. LOVED the eucalyptus towels at the end. The room is heated which was a little tough for me since I wasn't used to it, but I think if I went a few more times I'd get the hang of it. Thanks for a great experience Grit! read more

Group fitness has been a part of my life for the past 10 years. Without it, I honestly am not the best version of me. Trust me, I tested it out the last few weeks and the loss of community and shared energy from being in a class full of people sharing an hour together was mind blowing. To fix this epic case of the blues, I went to Grit and have been incorporating it into my life 2x a week to keep my heart rate and spirit up. I feel renewed and appreciate the balance it offers my life. Spin isn't the only fitness I practice, but profoundly impacts my state of mind and being like yoga. I just started getting into spin and Grit was the very first spin studio I visited. If you're looking for a high-energy, family-feeling spin studio, then this is definitely it. Your first class is $16 and your shoe rentals are free if you don't already have spin shoes. After that, shoe rentals are still free but it comes out to $22/class unless you buy a package which makes it roughly $20. If you arrive about 15 minutes early, they'll show you around and help you get set up on your bike. I personally find this crucial if you're a spin noob like me because otherwise you'll be sitting in the dark attempting to figure out how to adjust your bike and get strapped in during the class itself. There's only a few negatives about Grit Cycle and those include parking which is kind of a hassle (there's limited lot parking, but a lot more street parking) and keep in mind that this place is popular so classes get full fast. Other than that, everything about this place is awesome. I love the high energy instructors and I love the music they play here. There's a good mix of dance music AND hip hop music which I think is important (Full Psycle down the street seems to focus mostly on EDM music) and everyone here is super friendly. I went here with my gf on a early Sunday morning. I had already heard about how awesome it was, so I wasn't surprised when i got there and had my own experience. I loved the layout of the building the architecture was done very well. The bike room was laid out really wide and they open these sliding doors at the end and pass out cold towels which feel amazing after a long sweat. The teacher was full of energy and very passionate about her class, I liked her a lot. It was a great way to start the day and get your blood pumping. I literally cannot wait to go to class here. I found this studio through Class Pass and will be joining as a full member once my Class Pass cycle is up. Its become my therapy. You will get the best workout of your life here. Its so much fun you forget you're sweating buckets. The instructors are professional, uplifting, and push you to your limit. Best part? I came here on a Thursday after work for the 645pm class lead by Jeff. To be honest, I was super nervous and didn't know what to expect . It was my first cycling class EVER. I reserved my class through Class Pass after hearing great things about Grit from a good friend. I arrived about 20 minutes early and checked in and got my shoes from the front desk . They have keyless lockers for you to store your belongings, which was nice. Shoes and lockers are complimentary. The layout of the Saddle Room is pretty cool, shaped like a horseshoe with all bikes facing the instructor who is front and center. This makes it easy for newbies like myself to follow along with the moves. Once class is started, lights are dimmed, music starts blasting, you get pumping !!! Definitely an upbeat, high energy, fun workout ! They also throw in some light weights for a challenging arm workout out. The nice thing about the class is that you can definitely go at your own pace of you need to. Lastly, Jeff was not only a great instructor but also an awesome dj, which made the class very enjoyable I highly recommend checking Grit out if you're looking for a fun workout! read more

For starters, I am NOT a workout junkie and I don't have an addictive personality. I know that exercising is essential to a healthy lifestyle, however for the past 15+ years I have viewed exercise as a "necessary evil" because I simply could not find a regular exercise program and/or activity that I truly enjoyed. Thanks to Grit, I have finally found "that thing" that makes me WANT to exercise. I generally attend 3-4 classes per week, and if I don't go for a few days I totally miss it! There is not one specific aspect of Grit that makes it great, it is literally a full experience. The location and facility are awesome, the instructors and staff are amazing, Grit's commitment to community and charity is remarkable, the music, weights and bikes are great and (importantly) the energy of the other "Gritties" in class is fabulous (and contagious) ... all of these factors combined make Grit a really unique place and experience. Certainly the finest, most elegant Spin Studio on OC. Yes, I used the word elegant! It's civil, yet INSANE! My favorite is Matt. By far the best instructor in the OC. its VERY HOT. VERY LOUD. His class has a nice drug addiction feel to it. He motivates you and when you are done, you look like a kitten that just had a bath. Soaked! Each instructor at GRIT have their own style and routine. SPIN instructors are like Personal Cardio Trainers, so you have to select your leader, by style and level. Marisa is delightful, she always has a good playlist and incredible weight routine. Candice is a hoot, entertaining, drop dead gorgeous and master instructor. Danielle is adorable and upbeat. Taryn is also upbeat, challenging and great music. These are my top picks. I have been going to Grit on and off for about 8 months or so- but it wasn't until Mike's class that I really got into it! I was in a car accident a couple years ago and broke my Neck and Back- so the past few years have been non-stop recovery (physical therapy, personal training, accupuncture, etc). I used to be an avid snowboarder and had not been back on snow since my accident- BUT then I started taking Mike's class 2x a week along with the rest of my therapies and I've gained the strength to get back snowboarding again! Grit has introduced to me to an entire new fun, low-impact way of working out and I owe a huge thank you to Mike for his challenging classes with rad music that motivates me enough to keep pushing through. Let's be honest, working out kinda sucks. A lot. I personally and typically despise the whole process (boring routines, sweating, heavy breathing - ick). BUT Grit Cycle makes working out SO FRIGGIN fun! A big group of us went and I had THE best time. I've taken spin classes before and they were just blahhhhh.
